They fixed our shower plumbing and added an acces panel for the shower. They installed a new ceiling fan. They re-faced our rotted deck and replaced several joists. Replaced both sets of stairs and set them in concrete. Amazing woodworking, professionalism, punctual, truly good people that you can actually trust. All work was done in a very timely fashion. "Painting is one of those projects that many DIYers tackle themselves because it's seemingly not very complicated and seemingly a great way to save money and headaches. That said, Howard and his crew might change your perspective on this entirely. From start to finish, from having an initial consultation talk, down to rolling up the last drop cloth, Howard and his crew were prompt, professional and paid excellent attention to detail. He shows up when he says he will, charges a fair price for his services, and most importantly takes ownership and pride in his craft. They were very considerate of our freshly installed flooring and made sure to keep a clean workspace. While some might consider taking on painting themselves, if you're reading this you're obviously debating the merits of hiring a pro. With Howard and his team, you get all the benefits you should expect, without the the horror stories you may fear. One word of caution- Some people are shmoozers. He is not. (and I mean that in the best of ways.) He's a man of few words and he does what he says he'll do. IF you want a shmoozer, look elsewhere. If you want a great painter, I strongly recommend."

"Star painting power washed and painted the whole exterior of our house 5 years ago. It has held up extremely well. We had some damage recently and called them to repair it. They were incredibly responsive & completed all the work going above and beyond in honoring our warranty on the work. Often times one is disappointed that people don't stand behind their work, but Star painting did - 5 years later - and even when the damage was not related to their work. I recommend them fully to anyone looking for quality work, and professionalism with customers. The cost of service quoted in this review is the original cost - they did not charge us for the recent repairs which was incredible!"

"Ricardo and his crew did an overall good job with my floor project. What I needed done was sanding and staining about 1200 sf of a wood floor (about 500 sf was an old floor, 700 sf was a brand new unstained floor, and a 14 step staircase). A challenge on the old floor was areas where repair were needed; some places there were holes that needed to be repaired, plus the staircase had already been shellacked by my general contractor, and I needed ricardo to strip the shellac (i think it was done by hand) and restain it. They did a fine job sanding, staining, and polyurethaning with bona mega. In hindsight, I wish I had asked for bona HD traffic but I didn't know to ask. The good things that Ricardo did: -helped me pick out a stain that I to this day really love. -recommended bona water based, and bona floor care products. -kept in good communication before the job -showed up on time -did a good job with the floor repairs -"saved" my staircase; which my GC screwed up by shellacking without asking me about staining. Ricardo's crew sanded the shellac off by hand, and did a very nice job staining it to what I wanted. -got the job done quickly, 2 and 1/2 days. -gave me some good floor care advice what did not go well, and I wasn't happy with: -an innocent mistake, but his guys left two large bags of floor sawdust from sanding on my balcony. they forgot to clean it up after they were done, and I had to haul it myself. -Ricardo never gave me my final invoice and warranty info like he promised numerous times. After the 4th attempt I just gave up trying. -never followed up with me after I expressed concerns that maybe the floor wasn't as shiny (I asked for semi-gloss) as I thought semi gloss was supposed to be. many people that have come by say the floor's really satin, not semi gloss. to this day I can't really tell. the lack of follow up after the job was done, to this day, still annoys me. I think overall the floor was done well though, but after a year and a half of experiencing it; I've convinced myself that it is probably OK. -a little sloppy on some parts of the staining job. I saw various areas where stain got onto my wall or fairly high up on the baseboards. -would have been nice if Ricardo advised me to wipe down the walls afterward; i realized many months later that the walls had a thin layer of sanding dust. Didn't realize this for a while. Overall a good job, and I think I would hire him again, but with some hesitation."

"I was very pleased to receive a detailed proposal with photos, in a timely manner,  and a fair price.  Once work began, the crews arrived on time, they were friendly, wore booties, and the area they were working on was sealed off to protect the rest of the room; I appreciated the fact that they were so conscious about not making a mess or tracing debris through the house.  The work was completed on time and I would highly recommend them to anyone needing this type of work done.

"Two years ago we used this company to clean out the inside of the gutters and powerwash the house and were very pleased with the service provided so we called them again. Unfortunatly we did not have the same experience. I reached out to Alan via email to which he responded promptly. We went back and forth a few times to clarify pricing and details of work being done always with a prompt response. We decide to have the gutters hand washed for an additional $195.00  ($175.50 with 10% senior discount) as well as cleaning out the inside of them and powerwashing the house. When Alan's worker comes to do the work he determines that hand washing the gutters would damage them and therefore we do not have them hand washed. Once the job is finished the worker contacts Alan to adjust the bill since the gutters were not hand washed. Alan first adjusts the bill by $131.50 and then by $156.50 when we question it instead of $175.50 we were charged. We call Alan several times while the worker is waiting and Alan does not answer the phone. Since we do not want to keep the worker waiting we pay him the requested amount knowing it is incorrect. Alan has not returned any of our phone calls or emails since July 28 and has cashed my check and not returned the $19.00 that was overcharged. Needless to say we will not be using Alan Drake in the future. 

A $19.00 refund was received on 8/13/15. I checked back through all incoming email, deleted email and spam  as well as incoming phone calls and messages and did not find the email Alan was referring to nor any other responses to my inquiries. As I was checking my email and phone messages several times a day waiting to hear from him I most definitely would have responded. I realize he was dealing with a personal matter at the time and did allow 2 weeks before posting my review. I am pleased that the matter has been resolved and I have adjusted 3 ratings to reflect the situation has been addressed.
