"Lance and his crew showed up right on time, explained clearly what they were going to do, and answered all of my questions. After the installation was completed, they cleaned everything up, so there was nothing I needed to do afterwards. I realize that every house is different, and radon mitigation results will vary from house to house. Also, my house had ideal conditions for a good radon mitigation outcome - a 4 inch gravel bed under a basement concrete slab with no cracks or other places radon gas could enter from below. Having said that, my radon levels before mitigation averaged 4-6 pCi/L, with occasional peaks to 10-12 pCi/L on some days. After mitigation, the levels have been below 1.0 pCi/L since installation 2 weeks ago. Needless to say, I am very pleased with the result. I would not hesitate to recommend Lance and his crew for any work you might need for your home."

"Fernando answered my call and was at my house the same day. I had a 19 year old radon mitigation system in place, but I had not had it inspected since I first purchased the house. The basement which was normally never used for other than a laundry room was to become a teen hangout/crash pad. I read that it should be inspected every few years and Fernando confirmed that. I wanted to make sure that the system was working properly before turning this space over to kids. Luckily, the fan was still working all those years later. He replaced the pipe outside of the house with PVC and extended it past the gutters and roof. He also replaced another tube like/straw that I forgot what it was called. All in all, Fernando was prompt, attentive, and knowledgeable. I did mention to him that I may have my roof replaced and he gave me some tips so that no roofing debris will fall in the pipe while they're working. I feel confident that if I need to contact him again, he will be as prompt and diligent as our first meeting. Thank you!"

"Andy and I spent just over 3 hours going through an 1800 sqft house. His review and write-up was very through and professional. He responds quickly to emails when I've reached out to him. I've had trouble getting in touch by phone - but you have to realize there is no answering service, leave a message, and wait a few hours you'll get a call back, just have to be a little patient. Email may be a better way to communicate. There were a few questions that came up, and he answered them promptly from his pictures, and even double checked a few things when he picked up the Radon test. <br /> Overall I would say that Andy is a top notch home inspector and I would use him again in a heartbeat. He is down to earth, and very honest. I found him to be very trustworthy. <br />"

"As first time home-buyers, Chuck made the inspection process a pleasant one. I'm a bit of an anxious person who asks a gazillion questions in one breath. Chuck dealt with that better than most, he took the time to inform me of what he saw every step of the way. He arrived early, worked on the outside while we waited for the agent to open the house. He checked every room thoroughly, top to bottom, I mean this guy was like looking for any possible thing that could be wrong. This made me feel very secure of my investment in him and his time. The best part is he used the device to check for any signs of water leaks!!! my biggest fear is a water issue and mold, so this certainly put me at ease. I especially loved his reaction when he saw the foam insulated attic! he was so proud - and having an A Grade home inspector that proud meant everything to us!! he also set up the radon testing all reasonably priced. The report arrived within 24 hours, clear, coherent and professional. This guy is awesome, knowledgeable and we especially appreciated his fantastic sense of humor through the process. He is well-rounded and knows more than just home inspections, he knows the market and he brings all the right connections in Orange County, NY. Thank you Chuck!"

"My house had excessive levels of radon in our lower level. The Lance Dorfi team installed a pump to pump out the radon and release it up above the roof of the house. Since then, radon levels in that part of the house have been very low, so the problem was resolved. The work was done on budget, and they did an excellent job with scheduling and customer service. I recommend them for dealing with radon."

"This is my second time hiring True View. They are great. True View are true professionals. They are on time, thorough, and really care about their clients. We had Jason help us this time. He encouraged me to follow him around during the inspection so that he could educate me about important details. Not just about issues to resolve, but also the purposes and use of some of the home's equipment. Jason knew his stuff. He knew the lifetime of HVAC system, the roof, and the water heater. His work and detailed report helped us get a lot of issues resolved or fixed prior to buying our home. Our realtor was there for the inspection, and she was impressed with Jason's work as well. If I need another inspection, I'm definitely hiring True View again, and I recommend them to everyone!"

"After a home inspection I was told that I needed to <br /> remediate a ?black substance? aka mold from the roof of my attic crawl space. <br /> The black stain covered most of the plywood and some rafters. I was told it was <br /> probably due to poor ventilation. <br /> I had less than two months to remediate before closing. This <br /> was a first for me so knowing where to begin and who to call was the most <br /> difficult decision to make. Not many people talk about mold in their home so <br /> finding a contractor was going to be a challenge. <br /> I went right to Angieslist and started looking and I came <br /> across Enzyme Life Sciences. I read the many reviews and saw pictures from one <br /> customer who had the same issue I had. There were before and after pictures of <br /> the job performed. I thought if my roof sheathing could look like that I would be happy. <br /> So I called and talked to Mike Partlow who understood my problem and he talked <br /> me through three part process of cleaning the mold and removing the stain. Mike <br /> is out in Albany but has trained contractors throughout the NYS region so being <br /> in Buffalo was not an issue. I talked with a few other contractors and some <br /> were either booked for the next few months or were on vacation ? (during <br /> December). Ultimately, I decided to go with Enzymes Life Sciences and I?m so <br /> glad I did. Within a week, Mike sent out a gentleman named Scott who cleansed <br /> the mold from the attic. The attic looked clean as promised. Mike also gives a <br /> 5 year warranty that is transferrable to the new owners which was very <br /> advantageous when adding it to the amended home contract with the buyers. <br /> Mike also stuck with me after the job checking in with me to make <br /> sure the sale was going through with the cleansing completed. That's one other thing <br /> to look for when shopping for a contractor; Mike is there for you and stands behind his work. <br /> Finally, the house closed on schedule within a few days of the final inspection. <br /> I can?t say enough about Enzyme Life Sciences, if you need to get rid of any <br /> mold in your home Mike is your guy. <br />"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Yorktown Heights, NY

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
