"We found out about Hermanos Flores Gardening on Angie's List and his website. We chose Alex because of his outstanding reviews. Alex designed our front yard landscaping. Our front yard was over 40 years old. He and his crew cleaned up, removed old shrubs, removed a large tree stump, and removed overgrown ivy from a tree and the front of our house. He trimmed five overgrown bushes that had grown over seven feet tall. He hauled away all debris. He installed a drip system for our plants. Alex was very prompt, very fair in his bid, and did an outstanding job. We are very pleased with his landscaping work. On a scale if 1 to 10 with 10 being outstanding, I would rate Hermanos Flores Gardening a 10++."

"Holt Landscaping did our entire backyard several months ago, and we're still 100% satisfied. They installed lawn, concrete, plants, flower beds, rock, and wood chips. From planning the layout to completing the project, it was abundantly clear how much Gary cares about his customers and wants to deliver a product that they will actually love. We had considered several other companies in the area, and ultimately it was confidence that Gary would look after our project as if it was for someone in his own family. He did, and we couldn't be more grateful."

"This is the third time we've used Natural Stone Design for granite work (in two houses).  They are excellent.  Prompt, clean, precise, talented. <br /> This time, we used gorgeous, complex Cozmos granite slabs -- which as the name suggests look like a picture of a galaxy, with swirls, colors, starlike flecks.  It also is very flaky and surprisingly fragile in the fabrication process. NSD did a great job of clean cuts/accents and matching seams.  At the onset, they secured our chosen slabs (and reserved backups from the same lot) from a granite yard with which they have a great relationship.  Then they gave us a tour of their facility to walk us through the entire process, and discussed all our options.  First, they laid out the tape/stencils on the four slabs, set them out in the sun for us to view, then had us come review/approve.  We decided we wanted a particular swirl prominently displayed on one wall, and they happily moved all the patterns around for us to accommodate our choice. NSD did an incredible job of matching the swirls and colors from counter/splash to counter/splash; the transitions are excellent, even when the patterns did not come from sections of the slabs that were cut near one another.   <br /> At installation, they did a fine job of onsite cuts, as well (outlets, small adjustments, etc.), and an excellent job of creating clean seams.  And we had wanted one huge wall slab to be installed in one piece, even though that meant oddly cutting it around cabinets, etc.; they created what we wanted and simply sent out lots of guys to start the day and put that heavy piece in safely and carefully.   <br /> Pat was our coordinator, and he was thorough and accommodating.    <br /> Pricing is highly competetive.  And they worked really well with our bathroom reno contractor (we insisted he use NSD).  <br /> We're big fans of NSD, will be using them for small bathrooms and our fireplace in a few months. <br />"

"We have two big, young, active dogs who destroyed the backyard our first winter at the residence following the first rain. There was no drainage, and the backyard was transformed into a big mud hole. <br /> Our goal was to eliminate the dirt and mud, but also have an aesthetic backyard we could enjoy. <br /> Tim convinced us in our first consult that we could in fact have a nice backyard with dogs.  His team put in proper drainage with a beautiful stamped concrete patio. They landscaped the surrounding patio with various trees, shrubs and plants with mounded gold rock as the ground cover.  The team also constructed a nice shadow box fence and gate separating our garden area. In the garden, they built  two garden boxes and planted various fruit trees and covered the ground with  bark.  The entire backyard is on a timed drip irrigation system.  The entire project was done in one week while we were on vacation, so we returned to a transformed wonderful backyard.  <br /> However, it was not without its challenges thanks to our canines' youthful exuberance.  I found myself sweeping rocks off the patio twice a day.  Tim recommended we add bigger rock to the small rock.   He personally came out and spread the rock himself free of charge. This helped immensely.   Then about a month later, Tim came over on a Saturday and built a grape arbor in our garden area, again free of charge. <br /> Tim and his team were professional, reliable and they back their work. He truly cares about satisfying his customers.  We would not hesitate referring him or his team for any landscaping needs. <br /> Matt and Regina"

"They were professional. Used bead blasting technique with tiny glass beads with protective covers on exposed plastic components. After cleaning was complete, they used a vaccum to remove the glass beads from the pondsand surrounding areas. Final scraping with a metal tool in hard to reach areas completed the job. <br /> Minor negative: Later, I found that they left some of the used glass beads on a square foot of lawn, most of which I cleaned up. The residual glass beads are inhibiting the grass growth in that area. I still need to reclean that lawn area. <br />"

"Let me just start off by saying that I've tried a different carpet cleaner company a few months back for some unfortunate dog messes which were caused by outdoor plants, and taking that into consideration, I am very well aware that the previous cleaners had their hands full and a tough job ahead. But, after their long vist, pet treatment performed and all the common extras, I was less than pleased at the result. The house smelt like mildew and rotten moldy socks that evening and the following days were unbelievably the most unpleasant days spent in my own home. The carpets were wet for days after and I had even pulled out my pet grooming monster dual force dryer and peeled carpet up on stairs while forcing water out. I set up fans and propped carpet up. It was pretty discouraging and I was hesitant to try another cleaner but I knew it couldn't be avoided. With a toddler and a house full of pets, the carpets are going to be needing regular cleaning down throughout the year. I researched, visited websites and choose Goose's. <br /> Mike showed up, was very easy going and yet very focused on what needed to be done and explained how and why his process was going to be the best course of action for general  carpet cleaning as well as the specialty urine treatment. He was very confident in the products that he uses, as well as in his technique. I was very happy to see the process go smoothly and he kept me posted with any relevant and informative techniques/processes/comments and even suggested where and what to purchase for our very thick, very long carpets to keep them fresh and renewed. He worked with me and my indoor cats, blocking off areas and blocking the front door gap where his tubing and hoses had to be run through. He was very efficient but not rushed or trying to wrap it up before the job was done thoroughly.  He has obviously honed in on his steps for providing this service and due to his confidence in his business and service, he was not hesitant to start where it was best for him and did not wait for instructions on where to begin, did not waver on  how to go about his task and he did not make me feel unsure of his competence. <br /> We will be using his throughout the year following this visit and we will be recommending his services. <br /> It was a very comfortable, stress free, worry free, thoroughly completed, and overall great experience. <br /> The job done was great, the house smells good, the urine smell is obsolete and maybe even completely  removed before the second treatment gets applied in 2 days and I'm very happy with everything. <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Yuba City, CA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
