The electrician was creative in solving some installation problems.  He also saved me some money by advising me that some other electrical work I was considering might not be necessary."

"Paul and his partner were great to work with, they arrived at exactly the time agreed upon and worked tirelssly, no breaks moving quickly from one project to the next for 5 straight hours. Although DIY home repairs is not their primary work (carpentry) they took it all on and completed more than I expected to get done in this period of time.
They were completely professional, did quality work and were easy to work with. Paul was very open about not doing work he was not licensed for - plumbing and electrical, but provided advice on how work could be done.

"Overall, the project went well.  The finished product is very nice and the crew was easy to work with.  My only complaint about GCM is the time it took.  A straightforward bathroom remodel with no layout changes (save the addition of a second sink) shouldn't take 5 weeks to complete, but this one did for whatever reason.  I'll break down the service by area:
1) Demo went very smoothly and only took a day and a half.2) Rough-in plumbing, even with only a second sink addition (which required little work) took 3 full days.  This set the entire project back and there was no good reason for it other than the plumber disappearing on the first day.3) Rough-in electrical - although being the bulk of the cost of the work - only took a half a day.4) Cement board and drywall took 7 days.5) Tiling took 6 days (although the subcontractor that did this work was exceptional in his craftmanship)6) Finish plumbing took 2 days7) Painting took 3 days.
GCM's argument was that someone was at our house working every day for the entire duration of the project, but my overall feeling was that there was just a lack of a plan and a lack of coordination between parties.  The plumber incorrectly placed the second sink because he never measured the vanity and didn't know the width.  The drywallers were unsure when they'd be back next.  The tiler was a day later than I was told he'd be there because he had to be at an inspection.  More importantly, many times, someone would come by for a 1-2 hour task and then you wouldn't see anyone again that day (for instance, 3 guys showed up one morning to take out the tub, and the crew was cleared out by 11).
The biggest disappointment on the project was that we were told of a project manager who would be involved in the execution (Scott), but while he did do some tasks, there was no plan.  I asked 3 times when the tilers would be there and was told every time, "oh, I need to look at the job board and see."  To me, I shouldn't have to ask that many times if a project manager is assigned to the work.  Scott is a very nice person, but he never communicated a single date to me and when I asked, referred me to Ben (the same person who did the bid and overasw the work).
I was very happy with how straightforward the bid and budget is contructed.  There were very few surprises.  I didn't get the impression that anyone cut any corners or did bad work.  The finished product looks good and Ben did stop by to make sure little details were fixed before the job was done.  GCM clearly is honest and knows what they're doing, I just wish it was more organized and followed the timeline they suggested at the outset of the project (2 to 3 weeks).
While I would work with GCM again, I wouldn't engage them in this large of a project again.  I would ask them to come do things like installing a new window or door, but not to run a project with several moving parts involved - not without more evidence of how they manage the projects to ensure timing and mitigate trickle down to the rest of the project.
