"Randy Gardner responded immediately to my request for a visit and estimate. He looked inside and outside, and told me I did not need to go to the expense of the drain tile and waterproofing. He said the house (build in 1917) had settled, and that the sidewalk along the side of the house was sinking toward the house, resulting in the water in the basement. He recommended removing the existing sidewalk, and laying new concrete with the proper slope away from the house. Although it was not a cheap fix, it was half of what I feared it would cost. "The plumber from Randy Lane did a good job of the plumbing work and also a very good job of explaining what he was doing. Our house is fairly old and a lot of sections of copper pipe were corroded. As we can not afford to do all of them at once, we had to replace just the pipes and sections that are most corroded and/or leaky. The plumber helped me prioritize which sections should be re-piped now, and which ones could reasonably be watched and replaced in the future. He explained this clearly and without pressure, then when I decided on the best approach he got to work on it.
