"Great price! Great service! Did a cleaning and inspection on the fireplace and the chimney in the house we recently bought. Gave suggestions on repairs and wasn't pushy whatsoever. Very honest and friendly."

"A Century Chimney camera inspection of the chimney in our 90-plus year old house revealed badly deteriorated flue tiles. The damage -- which made our fireplace too hazardous to use -- was beyond ordinary repair and required the installation of a stainless steel liner. Century installed the liner, insulating it with Thermix; parged the smoke chamber; installed a new damper and crown; and performed all the necessary grinding and tuckpointing of the masonry. The chimney is tall (about 27 feet) and the liner job was challenging. Owner Gary Spolar was onsite for the daylong job. He and his team really know their stuff. In addition to being experts, they were also punctual, responsive, friendly, and thoroughly professional. Plus they left the site clean, inside the house and out. The work was done in September 2018. We've used the fireplace multiple times since then and it works perfectly."

"Highly recommended! I called with multiple questions- needed tuckpointing on two chimneys, chimney caps to keep out the raccoons, and an inspection/cleaning of an old wood-burning stove. Scott came out for an inspection and gave me great advice- namely that I would need major repairs and updates to safely use the stove- so he advised me against spending the money to clean it unless I intended to commit to the rest of the project. Scott took his time and explained quite a bit to me. I was in a bit of a hurry to get the chimney work done because I had my new roof on hold waiting for the chimney repairs. Brian came out within a day or two to give me an estimate, then was able to sneak me into his schedule for the next week. Each time they said they would be there, they were. And everything was thoroughly cleaned up before they left! I have two awkwardly placed chimneys and had received multiple repair estimates. Some refused the job, others gave me estimates which were much higher than Good Knight's Sweep. One contractor wanted me to rent a manlift for $1000. Scott and Brian set up scaffolding- off of my upper deck for one of the chimneys, around the power lines for the other- and somehow made it look easy. Brian did the tuckpointing and replaced the crowns on two chimneys- the work was pristine, and they even went back up at the end of the day to clean up a small drip that I never would have noticed. Scott dropped a mothball in the chimneys to keep the raccoons out, then replaced the caps. I have had multiple consultations on how to get the raccoons out long enough to cap the chimneys, all were ridiculously expensive and involved trapping/killing the raccoons- so this solution was amazing. Fees for the caps were also lower than other quotes I received. Finally, I just want to say that these are such nice guys! Scott removed an old antenna that was on my roof and hauled it away. Brian cleaned up some unsightly discoloration on the side of my home that the HVAC guys had left. They could have easily said "sure, I'll do it for $50" or whatever- but both things were done really just as a favor. I'm not someone that normally writes reviews, but honestly just can't say enough good things about these guys. If you need any type of chimney or fireplace work, just call them and look no further."

"<p>I contacted Jilek Roofing by e-mail in February 2014 because my house was ready for a new roof plus it was leaking into the garage. They contacted me the next day and came out to have a look. They called me right away and explained what was causing the leak and I asked for an estimate. Shortly thereafter they dropped off a very nice professional folder which contained the estimate plus their credentials, certifications, and product information.</p> <p>I accepted their offer and they also agreed to repair a rotted gutter board and replace a piece of missing soffit on the back of the house at no charge. They said they would start as soon it warmed up to about 40°. They started the job the first week of April and were done in two days which I was happy with because I thought it would take longer when having a tear-off done.</p> <p>The new roof looked absolutely beautiful but I noticed one thing that didn't look quite right. Some of the shingles along the front edge were not lying flat and had "humped" look. I mentioned it to them and they said once it warms ups and we get some warm sunny days they will flatten out, so I figured I'd wait and see. More later.</p> <p> As time went by and I had a chance to view the house every day returning from getting the mail. I noticed that a short piece of gutter and the splash guard in the corner where the house meets the garage were bent and banged up. The gutter piece was also not sitting level and was almost at the same angle as the slope of the roof. Apparently they needed to remove the gutter during the roofing process and it was reinstalled forcefully and sloppily. I shined a flashlight inside the gutter when it was dark outside and I could see gaps in the seams by the light shining through the gaps. Now it leaks like crazy whenever it rains.</p> <p>I contacted them in August 2014 and asked them to fix the shingles and the gutter. They came out immediately and fixed the shingles by trimming my gutter screens which apparently were causing the shingles to not lay flat. They replaced the splash guard but did absolutely nothing to fix the gutter and it still looks really bad.<br /> <br /></p> <br />"

"Overall it went well.  He showed up when he said he would, he always responded to any messages left in a timely manner and they worked as often as they could.  It has been a very rainy season so it took longer than expected because of weather issues.  <br />"

"Our beautiful fireplace is now finished and we are fully enjoying it. We want to give a shout out to the Northfield Fireplace Shoppe and all the people who did excellent work. John Rada, in sales and ordering, provided us with a lot of helpful information as we made our decisions. Bonnie, at the office, helped us with questions & scheduling. Then John Bailey and Rob replaced our shabby old brick work with clean eye-catching white brick with their excellent mason work. Tim and Craig added our gas line and logs in a safe and totally neat way. And Joe did a wonderful job of installing the fireplace doors. Everyone we worked with was very pleasant and we totally recommend them."
