"Mike is fantastic. We had a leak in an outer wall that damaged our flooring and the wall. He repaired the leak, replaced the flooring, and installed new wainscoting that I had been wanting on the damaged wall. The quality of his work is top notch and he was so kind and easy to work with. 100% recommend."

"I worked with Prime Time Custom Homes for a kitchen remodel and had an excellent experience. Everyone that worked on my home was professional, personable, experienced, communicative, and prompt. My home was built in the 70s, and I wanted to go with a modernized 70s-style vibe - we installed a butter yellow pantry wall, milk glass pendants (Amazon), a stained glass window feature (Etsy, Cali Glasshaus), and pops of walnut wood tones. They worked with me throughout the project to bring the concept to life. I used to refer to my kitchen as "my little cave", but now it is an an open, well-lit, functional and beautiful space! Finishing work like shiplap/wall paint will be completed soon; uploaded pics of the nearly completed project. Very pleased with the experience I've had! Highly recommend!"

"When it comes to being a great person and a great contractor, I cannot say enough positive things about Mr. Ford and his crew... When it comes to workmanship and excellence? They displayed it day in and day out until the project was done! They completely remodeled my bathroom, raised the sagging floors throughout the house, and re-plumbed the entire house. I have to admit I was concerned in the beginning because I had never had a remodel done before but Mr. Ford assured me that I would be more than satisfied with the final results... and I was! I love my bathroom! Fords Siding and Remodeling is the best! I will be a customer for life! If you are looking for someone who takes extreme pride in his work, goes above and beyond the call of duty, and cares about his customers, Mr. Matt Ford is your man!"

"Steven and his crew did incredibly professional, high-quality work. His laid back demeanor and solid communication skills made it easier to stomach the unexpected water damage repair to my home. The total came in slightly below the quote that he gave me, as well. I can’t recommend these guys highly enough and I plan to use them for a massive remodel that we hope to do in the near future."

"My only complaint is about the first service: The driveway was left with numerous nails, screws, small pieces of wood and particle board, as a result of furniture breaking and splintering when it was thrown into the truck. Ideally, the furniture could have been loaded so that debris wasn't scattered over the driveway. I spent about 45 minutes searching for and picking up nails and screws to prevent getting a flat tire. This is the reason for my lower ratings. Cost was $136 with Angie's List coupon, which I thought reasonable. My second service for yard waste removal went smoothly. I was very pleased. Cost was $219, which was a little less than I expected due to the large amount of debris."

"<p>It went great and looks fantastic.  Jim Branley does first class work and great worksmanship.  This job involved him for almost 4 days and with an assistant for 3 of those days.  Jim is very cost conscious for the customer and told me some of the prep work I could do ahead of time (removing old fixtures and wiring, some wall paneling and installing mounts in the greenhouse for the receptacles) and afterwards (fill trench).  Because of it being a greenhouse, with a humid environment, the electrical code and requirements are more stringent (and costly) than a normal residence.   He answers all your questions and checks in by text before arriving each day. </p> <p>We will definitely have him back for our future electrical needs. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /></p> <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Elon, NC

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
