"This was definitely a 5 star operation from the initial discussions to the finishing touches! For a major renovation and upgrade to our master bathroom we reviewed potential contractors and their customer comments. VKB stood out. Our VKB designer Sean clearly has artistic talent and lots of design experience. He patiently worked with us, showing us 3D design options as we considered alternative configurations and materials. When we were satisfied with the design, Sean transitioned us smoothly to the build phase, introducing Jason as our project manager and Walter as our crew chief. Sean personally familiarized Jason with the project, inviting us to share our thoughts and any concerns. During the renovation, Walter and his crew would carefully isolate the MBR work from the rest of the house, sealing off the room and path to the front door with plastic barriers and floor coverings every morning and remove them every evening. Everyone was polite and sensitive to our living space. Jason was responsive to our wishes to refine several design aspects as the work proceeded, and Walter and his crew smoothly made the alterations. After the main construction was completed Jason remained very attentive to our ‘punch list’ of remaining details and our questions until all had been resolved. Walter ensured very high-quality work down to the finest detail. All the work from design to completion was well within the timeframe we had hoped. In the end, we have a beautiful MBR well beyond our original expectations!"

"Wonderful! I couldn't be happier with the service we received from all the staff we worked with. By far the best contractor I have encountered in our area. Always pleasant on the phone and in person. All staff very helpful and knowledgeable. We will definitely be keeping there number for future home improvements! They showed me that there are still good and trustworthy contractors out there to work with! Thank you!"

"A+ experience. Outstanding experience overall. Jared was very easy to communicate with and responsive to messages. In setting up the project, we emailed back and forth several times. When I finally got all the materials ready, I contacted him on a Mon and he was out that Weds to do the work. He worked nonstop the whole day, and made several unplanned repairs that were needed. He made suggestions on how to resolve unforeseen issues. The quality of his work was excellent, and the room looks great. He also made efforts to keep our house clean, such as using tarps, changing his shoes, etc. He worked past the original planned end time to get the job done, and he also graciously took away all the trash and debris at no additional cost, which we really appreciated. We plan to use him again to do similar work on a second bathroom, and he gave helpful recommendations for the next project. So great experience all around, from ease of communications, to quick scheduling, to quality of work, to providing above and beyond effort. I would highly recommend."

"We had a lot of repair work before the painting could begin. They were very thorough. We also had a lot of trim work (crown molding, pillars) and the work was exceptional. The total above included all new door knobs and light and electrical plates which they installed. They also spent a good amount of time cleaning up. The owner of the company came by often to see that the work was being done well and was on schedule. We are very happy with the work! We will be using them for other projects in our home. <br />"

"Neal King was great to work with from beginning to end. He was professional and prompt, and was the only contractor who gave us an estimate who took the time to really inspect the roof carefully. He took pictures of the area during the inspection so that he could let us see exactly what he had discovered. After we accepted the contract, he scheduled and completed the job promptly. I particularly like that he kept in touch with us by email throughout the process, including sending photos of the extent of the rotted material they found and pictures of the finished work (which of course we otherwise couldn't have easily inspected). Time will tell whether the original leak probelm is totally corrected, but we already can tell that water is no longer running down the side of the chimney when it rains, as it did before."

"The work was done with great care and attention to detail. They had to use their skill to make a few appliances fit in |limited space and look good when finished. The owner/contractor was there every step of the way to see that |everything was done perfectly and did much of the work himself. I love my new kitchen! I highly recommend them and will use their services for more home improvements."

"We considered 5 different contractors for an extensive project finishing our basement.  Wantz was one of the top two contractors we considered.  Pricing was fair and his vision matched our vision.  The biggest decision point for us was that we would have to wait 45-60 days to start and that would have impacted our plans to be finished by the 2013 Holiday season.  Otherwise, there was a good chance that we would have chosen Wantz.  Instead, we went with Brothers Services and have been very happy with the results. <br />"

"PJ McTavish was outstanding from start to finish. They were responsive, the owner himself, contacted me within minutes of when I left a message. He understood the roofing issues, took time to listen to my explanation, looked up the house on Google maps as we were talking, and fit me into his schedule the very same day. He did not oversell or undersell what needed to be done in order to correct the problem. When the repair crew arrived, they too were very knowledgeable, and professional and explained their approach and rationale for the fix. They did not know it at the time, but I am a real estate investor with over 30 years of home renovation experience and it was evident to me that the McTavish employees doing the repair, were doing it right, and taking all of the right precautions, using the correct materials and exercising the right workmanship to ensure a successful repair. Their knowledge and expertise was second to none and I cannot give a higher recommendation for roof repair, particularly if you have a house with an old slate roof. They did not take any shortcuts and did the job right, at a very fair and reasonable price. They are at the top of my list for all my future roofing and roof repair related needs. Truly an excellent company at every level, including superb customer service. five out of five stars!!!!"

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Great Mills, MD

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
