"There aren't enough superlatives to properly rate this company. My wife and I are Realtors. So we deal with a lot of plumbers, electricians, etc. Axiom is far and away the best in all areas - friendliness, competence, experience, pricing, honesty, promptness - you name it. Our main drain line was clogged. After 3 different plumbers failed to fix the problem, Rob Evans of Axiom PDX found the clog and fixed in less than an hour. Rob saved us thousands of dollars in bogus repairs that had been proposed by the other plumber. Unless I am forced, I will never use or recommend a plumbing services company other than Axiom PDX. You won't be sorry (and you really might be sorry if you run into one of those big company scammers who almost got us)."

"They were prompt, honest, and professional. I had a number of cracks in the line out to the main sewer line. They inserted the lining which is guaranteed far longer than I'll ever own this home. It prevented their breaking up and removing (and later replacing) of 5 large blocks of the sidewalk, due to the angle, which we had only replaced a few years ago and would have, I'm sure, resulted in a large extra charge with the new pressed and tinted color probably not matching."

"I called Henco’s after I had another company come out and give me and estimate and to look at our water heater. The first company immediately gave me the doom and gloom “this water heater’s going to blow up at anytime, you need to replace it today”! (They just so happened to have a new one in their truck) I said I’d get back to them and then promptly called the second plumber on my list. The owner was very kind and gave me his opinion without trying to get business. I asked if he could come out and give an estimate on repair/replacement, he had someone here within a couple hours. Owen was very nice and honest, he said our water heater was NOT going to blow up, but it was leaking (we already knew, that’s why we called). He didn’t push any sales on us but we asked for a quote on replacement. His quote was MUCH less than the previous guy and Owen explained the differences in the water heaters available. We placed our order, a few days later they came and installed it. The two guys who came were very nice and professional, did an awesome job and answered all my questions. I HIGHLY recommend this company."

Small jobs welcome

"They arrived on time, did a quick evaluation to find the problem (leaking sprayer hose). Gave me choices (I picked "replace"). Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 affecting supply chains, they did not have the replacement. Since this was Friday afternoon, they used to the weekend to try and find the replacement - they were back on Monday AM to finish the installation. I would definitely use them again."

"Wow! The owner called right away and set up an appointment for the next day. His team came and fixed my plumbing problem quickly. They did a great job. They kept us informed and up to date. They left my home clean. I have running water again. I highly recommend them. Grateful, Toni"

"Is it weird to say a septic service company are angels from the Lord, because that is how we feel today. I’m about to have our fourth baby and we discovered a clog that resulted in leakage (I’ll spare the details)onto our lawn where our kids play. I called A Affordable Septic, they were so kind and helpful on the phone, and called their technician who got to our house within HALF AN HOUR. He figured out the problem, not only fixed it but also cleaned up the leaked sewage (which we were not expecting!) and bleached the area, and pumped our whole system. Three hours from discovering this unfortunate event the problem was SOLVED and our whole system is working better than ever. He also took his own initiative to fix the broken pipe and cap we hadn’t gotten around to and order us a new clean cap. What could have been a disaster or at least major headache right before a new baby was barely a blip on our radar. And he did it all kindly with three excited young children wanting to “help” dig out the drain. Price was affordable and we are so appreciative!"

FAQs for sewer main install, replace or repair projects in Portland, OR

When installing a sewer line, you should consider extra costs like tree removal, driveway repairs, or patio resurfacing. Hiring a professional plumber is essential, and you may need additional specialists if landscaping or heavy excavation is involved. Addressing these potential extras up front helps ensure accurate budgeting and prevents sudden cost overruns.

To calculate the length of sewer piping you need, measure the distance from your house to the main sewer line, adding the depth of the city main to this distance. Be sure to account for any obstacles like tree roots or utility lines that may require additional piping.

City sewer lines are installed at a lower elevation to prevent unwanted backflow and water damage. This lower positioning ensures enhanced performance and long-term safety, meeting all technical and safety standards.

With trenchless methods, a plumber inserts a smaller pipe within the existing plumbing, avoiding full excavation. It can be more cost-effective and less disruptive than traditional methods, but it's not suitable for all homes.

Yes, you must secure permission from your local water authority before connecting to a public sewer line. This approval ensures your connection meets all regulatory requirements.

Sewer lines are buried between 18 inches and 8 feet deep, with most systems placed between 18 and 30 inches. In colder regions, pipes are set deeper to remain below the frost line.
