"I was looking for a few steps above a big box store and Bloomington Carpet One delivered! Much better quality and service. Was very impressed with our vinyl plank flooring installer Gary who is a pro at floor installation - been doing it most of his life! Chose Carpet One’s waterproof vinyl plank flooring as the bedrooms are halfway underground and we recently had water seepage - looks just like light white oak. No one can tell it’s vinyl. It was installed in three kid’s bedrooms and their small hallway -approximately 600 square feet."

"I can’t say enough good things about Randy and Carpet Stretch and Rescuecue. We had some bad wrinkling in our carpets throughout the house. Randy did an EXCELLENT job in smoothing out all the wrinkles! He also patched a piece of carpet that my dog had chewed on. Randy is a great guy and very easy to work with. I highly recommend this company!"

"I needed to replace carpet in my basement due to a basement flood. I had a water restoration company dry the old carpet, but then found it was too damaged to retain. <br /> I picked up Bob's information at Menards when shopping for carpet. The gentleman at Menards assisting me told me that he would recommend Bob over the other providers based on the positive feedback he received from customers. I contacted Bob by phone and scheduled an appointment during which he could stop by and provide an estimate on the job. Bob arrived promptly, was very courteous and thorough. His estimate was very reasonable, and included pick up and delivery of carpet from retailer of my choice. Before making a decision, I arranged for two other bids for the work, and Bob's was the best. <br /> I ultimately chose carpet from two different places (Menards for the exercise room and ProSource for the remaining rooms). I contacted Bob once I made my decisions, and he scheduled dates for the work (one date to remove old carpet/pad, one for installation of carpet in exercise room, and one for installation of carpet in remaining rooms). Bob arrived promptly on all dates and immediately got to work. He picked up the carpet and pad from the appropriate locations. He installed carpet in the exercise room first, and then remaining rooms (with some help). He continually kept me updated on progress. After the installation was completed, he cleaned up and even rehung the doors that had been removed by the water restoration company when they originally dried the old carpet. This was above and beyond my expectation. <br /> I could not be happier with my decision to work with Bob. The carpet looks great and I know I got an outstanding deal. He is professional, friendly, and overall a pleasure to work with. I would recommend Bob in a heartbeat for anyone who needs carpet installation. <br />"

"There are no visible seams! I have had only their carpet installed in my home for the past 40 years,Every person was professional and most importantly the installers were respectful of my home and woodwork.Last year I bought the exact same carpet as Schneider company from a very high end store as they were running big rebate sale.Big mistake! There were seams that were not hidden and was told they would settle down with vacuuming. This did not happen intact an unseen seam had actually appeared.Yes I saved a thousand dollars in rebates but I will never again buy carpet from anyone except The Schneider Company Carpet One again! They simply are the best!"

"We brought the rugs to their establishment.  They were very helpful transferring the rugs from my car into the store and vice versa when I picked them up.  I did not get a call however when they were done, I needed to call them.  The rugs were cleaned very well but I did not think to ask for any kind of fabric protector and they did not ask if I would like that so unfortunately they soiled again quicker than I would have liked <br />"

"G&M did an excellent job. I called knowing I had some pretty odorous carpet that needed replacement. I had a few ideas in mind, but wasn't exactly sure how to go about it. They showed up, gave samples, provided multiple quotes for different areas, qualities, etc. and even offered additional suggestions for me to do to help keep the pet odors (from prior owners) from recurring. They were comparable to "big box / free install" prices but definitely had that small operation level of personal service that can't be matched. I will definitely be calling them back to carpet the basement once the remodel work is completed."

"I am sad to say it did not go well even though we are happy with the end results, finally. We have used Abbott regularly for paint supplies and for carpet. In those instances we have been very satisfied and would highly recommend their service and products. Unfortunately buying the roller shades was not a smooth experience. The measurements were written down incorrectly so one shade was one inch too wide for the window. That needed a re-order. The brackets for the shades we were shown in the store display were very different from what we got. Then we learned that those we were shown were a newer premium style and not available in the shade style we ordered. If so, why were we not told that when ordering? We then needed to order new brackets in a different color since the ones we got were bright white which looked awful against the dark old woodwork. We were expecting a tan color but only part of the bracket was tan while most was white. Instead we ordered black which doesn't look too bad since it is more hidden in the shadow of the window casement. But it was another annoying delay in finishing this little project. Finally, once we got everything in place, we like the product very much. It looks great in our old house and works well. If anyone is going to shop at Abbott for window treatments, I would recommend being very particular and double check every aspect of the order to make sure you know what you are getting is what you want. I am amazed that this simple project with nine windows would take weeks longer than expected with multiple corrections needed to finally get it done. So it pays to be extra diligent, I guess."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Princeton, MN

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
