"They came as a three worker unit which for a single job or a simple repair would be too many people costing more than it should. I had a 24'x6' old porch ceiling with soffit vinyl needing replacement and a crawl area beneath the house with perhaps 3 feet of clearance. The utilities and sewer drain came up from the ground and were protected by a 6'x6' heated enclosure that needed insulation. During the winter the animals would dig into this and pull down the existing fiberglass batting and make their nest beneath the house. Neither job was by itself terribly hard but for one person which is what one expects when looking for a handyman they were pains (especially the crawl space box which required hours kneeling.) "Locke it In" completed both jobs well and met their cost estimate. The ceiling vinyl looks great. The crawl space box is covered in silvered R-13 Sheathing that I hope the wild life cannot use for bedding come the winter."

"Required repair to a front dormer , which was one immediately and cost an additional $350.00 that day. Horizontal third floor gutters were cleared of debris, but apparently not the vertical draining pipes. The dormer repair failed within months. I requested n estimate for replacement of the roof, which was provided soon thereafter. I have been in discussion of the cost of the portion of the roof needing repair first, planning to have the second half done early next year. Marshall Home Pros told me that they needed to have a 50% deposit a month ahead, in order to get a permit from the city. Meanwhile, have gotten an estimate from another company, clearly written, asking for somewhat less than the total cited by Marshall. I was told that no permit is needed (angles and height of roof are not going to be changed), and without needing to hold $$ for as long. Deposit proportion is less (not really the issue except that I didn't want $$ held for 30 days or more before work date would even be assured), and readiness to do the work within a shorter period, and within a day with a large crew, to minimize disruption to residents here and nearby. Materials and specs are the same for both estimates. My degree of trust in both is not. I signed with the other company."

"We hired QCR to replace a shoddy pool deck that came with the house we bought. We did not want to make a big investment, as we intend to get rid of the pool and deck in six or seven years after our son outgrows it. Matt was willing to be creative to work within our budget. For example, unlike some other contractors, he was willing to save the base structure by reinforcing and leveling it, and he topped it with wooden posts and lattice rather than the more expensive vinyl rails. He also offered us a discount on one color (which we liked) of Trex decking because he had a surplus. The workmanship was excellent. This deck is sturdy, functional, and attractive. All of the workers involved were efficient and respectful. In sum, price and quality were excellent.
We also found Matt to be fair and honest. There were a couple of minor issues with materials (rails on the stairs and lattice on the bottom of the deck) that he did not remember us discussing during our initial (verbal) estimate and discussion of the work to be done. Without argument he performed that work. There would have been no issue if we had put the agreement in writing to begin with. However, this was our first experience with a contractor and we just went with the flow; we didn't think to insist on putting everything in writing. 
Our project was delayed by the massive amount of rain we had at the end of May and early June. We had no problem with that, as our pool was not ready to use anyway. However, on two separate occasions, Matt told us that they would be finishing up the next day, but when the day came nobody showed up and we never received a call or email to tell us why or to give us a new date of completion (the weather was perfect on those days). Again, we were not disturbed by the delay, just perplexed by these minor lapses in communication in the context of an otherwise excellent experience. All other communication with Matt was prompt and professional. Toward the end of the project, he communicated with us regularly to make sure that the final product was meeting our expectations. This was much appreciated and we would not hesitate to use QCR again."
