"The price was part of my check up I got. I just like that they seemed to want to talk me into having my air conditioning cleaned and it only been out there like 6 months. My interaction with them was fine. I told them no and so be it. The work turned out fine. They were fine."

"We had them Replaced furnace and air conditioning unit. It was installed about a year ago but they came out for a regular service about a month ago. the service was free, part of the contract. I have no complaints, it was all good. They were responsive. they were punctual. I have no problems, it was a good deal when I bought it, it's a good deal now. I don't have any issues with how the service went. i bought it through them and I have no regrets and everything was the same as I felt when I bought it. It was a good deal, I made the right choice. Anytime you buy a major system and it doesn't go right you have a problem. I'm a happy camper.1 worker took less than an hour to complete."

"I contacted Bluestar Air Mechanical for a second opinion after an appointment with Air One. I have a Carrier HVAC system, and the Air One technician recommended a complete system replacement, claiming the blower was bad, the furnace control board needed replacing, and that there were other issues. Since replacing the HVAC is a big investment, I wanted to get a second opinion. It was only after comparing the service from Bluestar that I realized Air One may have been pushing for a new system sale or lacked the expertise to properly diagnose and repair the actual problems. Isaac, the technician from Bluestar, spent about an hour thoroughly diagnosing and fixing the issues. He found burnt wiring in the furnace and discovered that the wrong capacitor had been incorrectly installed in the AC. Isaac replaced the burnt wiring in the furnace and the capacitor in the AC. After these repairs, my Carrier system was back up and running—without the need for a costly replacement. Bluestar, and Isaac in particular, demonstrated professionalism, expertise, and honesty. They focused on resolving the actual issues instead of pushing for an unnecessary system replacement. I highly recommend Bluestar for their reliable service and Isaac’s thorough and knowledgeable work."

Customers say: Quality work

"To make a long complaint short, Stevie w/Triple Ice @ Cavendisd Dr. is my HVAC technician & should be yours too. Extremely good price for my jacked up A/C. Before I could walk around the block Stevie was finished. Tell your friends to tell their friends. Mr. McCain is a friendly professional with decades of experience, I wish him well. My experience was wonderful. Others price quotes, cost 5 times the amount I paid. The truth is I don't give out 5 stars, but this time, Triple ICE deserved it. I usually don't do reviews, but I like giving credit when it's due. Looking for a HVAC technician? I hope U call him, I will call him back again, until given reason not to. I don't play when it comes to in my home service, they bets to deliver satisfactory others wise I will move on down the road. Kudos to Mr. McCain. My first time with him & my first impression, really impressed me. I pat my self on the back for the service choice I made, got me on a natural high. I'm asking myself, what am I going to do with the money I saved with Stevie?"

"This is the company you need. It can't be beaten for prompt and professional service at a price lower then most other HVAC businesses On Saturday our outside A/C unit fan motor stopped, leaving us with no A/C. After making several unsuccessful attempts to get emergency service, I reached Dwayne from HVAC Connect. Wh said he would come by within 30 minutes; he arrived in 20. He got the A/C going on a temporary basis until he could obtain a new motor. He said he would be back on Monday with the new part. He kept his promise and installed it early on Monday. He noticed the old fan was out of balance and said he would get a new one. On Tuesday evening he installed the new fan and would not accept any additional payment. Dwayne can't be beaten for prompt, professional and cost-effective service."

FAQs for air conditioning projects in District Heights, MD

A standard blower door test takes between 30 minutes and one hour to complete. The process involves setting up specialized equipment in your doorway, running the fan to create pressure differences, and taking measurements throughout your home. Additional services like thermal imaging or detailed leak detection will extend this timeframe. The technician will also spend time explaining the results and making recommendations based on their findings.

Preparation involves turning off all combustion appliances, such as gas furnaces and water heaters, for safety. Secure all exterior doors and windows, but leave interior doors open to allow airflow throughout the house. Close fireplace dampers and cover any ashes to prevent them from being drawn into living spaces. Clear access to potential inspection areas like attics and crawlspaces, and inform everyone in the household about the test to prevent accidental door openings during the process.

Older homes often benefit most from blower door testing because they have more air leakage points than newer construction. The test can pinpoint specific areas where relatively inexpensive improvements will yield significant energy savings.

Many homeowners of vintage properties report noticeable reductions in drafts and more consistent indoor temperatures after addressing issues identified during testing. The potential utility savings often recover the testing cost within a reasonable timeframe.

New construction must meet increasingly stringent energy codes that specify maximum allowable air leakage rates. Meeting these standards requires careful attention to air sealing details during construction.

Success depends largely on properly installing air barriers, thoroughly sealing around penetrations, and quality control throughout the building process. While achieving code compliance is challenging, builders who implement systematic air sealing protocols succeed in meeting required standards.

It's best to schedule a follow-up test after completing all recommended air sealing and insulation work. This allows you to verify the effectiveness of your improvements as a complete package. Allow sufficient time for all sealing materials to cure properly—often a few weeks after completion. The verification test provides documentation of your home's improved performance and confirms you've addressed the issues identified in the initial assessment.
