"The awnings look great and I look forward to a cooler house this summer.  Mr. Montgomery was extremely knowledgeable about the product and provided many choices from which to choose.  He follow-up promptly as well.  His son was great at the installation as well.

"I am extremely happy with AJ's service, start to finish. We initially reached out for an estimate at the beginning of 2015. A representative came to our house to explain all the different products as well as pricing and timing. I had reached out to 2 other companies before hand but was not comfortable their high pressure selling. AJ was very patient with us regarding our timing and budget. I received an estimate on the spot and was able to take my time to review and get back to them. We scheduled the work for May and was able to have 7 Windows removed and replaced in only a few hours. We are very impressed with the quick respond time, professionalism and quality of work including cleanup. We plan on using AJ to replace the remaining Windows as well as a sliding glass door in early 2016.

"This is a follow up on a review made previously.  H&N was quite upset with our B rating.  In their response to our review they indicated that they would contact us and make things right.  (that was my interpretation of their response).  In my initial review I said that the installation of the windows was unsatisfactory because the trim partially (1/3) covered two electrical outlets and ruined the esthetics of the job.  I did not mention that the extensive trim was not finished and we were left with a bare wood surface.  H&N did indeed call us and my wife mentioned the lack of a protective polyurethane  coat.  A man did come out and coated the window trim, unfortunately that coat dried leaving a very rough coat with excess polyurethane in the  4 decorative grooves of the trim.  While we alerted H&N of this, the problem was not really acknowledged or remedied.  I did a lot of research on how polyurethane needs to be correctly applied and it is a long and tedious process of applying 4 coats of polyurethane wiping excess finish off and then sanding the finish for each coat.  I am not a stupid person (as they indicated in a phone call to my wife) I would have paid an additional sum to have the windows finished correctly, but H&N never requested additional payment.  Also the overlapping of the trim with the electrical  outlets was again ignored.  Again, I would have paid extra to move the electrical outlets, but they never requested additional payment.  I have bought materials and will finish the windows myself, but I will have to hire someone to move the electrical outlets.

I received a second survey in my e-mail that was not from Angies' list, and I filled it out stating exactly what I said in my Angies review.  I don't know who sent me this survey.  In response to this review, my wife received a phone call from H&N in which the caller said that only a crazy or stupid person would have filled out the such a survey.  My wife was unaware I had received and responded to a second survey so she was very confused.  Unfortunately, I was hospitalized at the time and could not respond as I was very sick.
I am not writing this review to get H&N to do additional work, in fact they are not welcome in our home and we will pay someone else to complete the job.

"We met with Tommy, the owner, on  around mid May 2012.  We found him to be very helpful and easy to talk to.  He returned an estimate to us within a few days.  He returned on May 23, 2012 with the contract, which we signed.  We then gave him a check for half of the amount.  He gave us a ballpark estimate for when he thought he could begin.  That date ended up turning into several weeks longer due to rain that delayed his completion of the previous job.  He said that he liked to finish a job completely before going on to the next one.  We totally respected that.Around mid June (I didn't record the date)  Tommy called to say he would be at our home a certain date.  He came that day along with two other men that he wanted to introduce to us.  One gentlemen he said would be supervising our job, and the other was a young man  helping him over the summer.  The three of them looked over the deck and gazebo and discussed various topics in detail about the best approach to take.  Talking with and listening to them gave us a tremendous feeling of relief in that we felt we were in good hands.  After that the one supervisor stayed by himself and the other two left.  The man worked the rest of the day in the scorching heat.  He never complained or slacked off.  He began assembling the railings that day and even got a few sections up.He spent the next couple of weeks returning periodically to work.  He needed to get a particular type of bracket to handle certain angles so that held him up slightly.  We became concerned when certain railings did not look level, nor were all the railings in the gazebo attached to the posts at the same height.  When we spoke to the supervisor about this he showed me how they were level from one section to the rest, although with the naked eye, they were obviously not at the same height.  Over the rest of the job we had several conversations about this and I have to say that he never once acted frustrated with me or my husband.  He indicated that he would do whatever it took to make us happy.  I also called Tommy on two occasions to express my concern.  Both times he listened patiently and never once made me feel like I was being unreasonable.I have no doubt that this was a frustrating job for this contractor, as it would have been for anyone because they were not building their product from the beginning and had to work around an existing deck and gazebo that had imperfections. My only reason for not recommending this contractor is simply the frustration of feeling like we had to check behind the supervisor with each new railing that went up.  He made everything as good as he could when he finished, but in doing so, had to leave screw holes were brackets had to be altered.  I'm sure he does excellant carpentry in many ways, but this job was extremely frustrating.  I do not feel the need for the company to be contacted as Tommy was aware of our feelings and made every effort to make us happy."

"Sandy (owner of the company) was very on top of our project. We had an opening cut out of a load bearing wall. It was very large opening and the wall was stabilized for continued support of our home. Very well done. The project did require more time and our home was protected as much as possible from construction dust . My only suggestion is for Sandy to have an electrician that she has trust in and a working relationship. Respectfully Deb W"

"The crew were unmatched in their performance and professionalism  He did have a few different crews come in that worked for him.  All were professional in work, dress and with their interactions with my family.  They were prepared every day and performed their job with the proper tools and we were impressed in how they worked hard not to interrupt our family life.  The job was completed on time and all documents were presented for each phase of the project in a timely manner.
Christian is not only a carpenter, but he is also an interior designer, home inspector, certified in lead removal, solar certified and an artist.  Instead of going to a Design Building Firm as we originally planned, we had Christian design our projects for us.  From the cabinet finishes, to the counter tops and the LED under cabinet lighting.  We are very happy with all the appliances that he picked out.  He was personally involved in the work from beginning to end.  We asked him  many questions and he always took the time to give us an answer. Everything was coordinated properly, all the different aspects of the job went smoothly and his team sent the material and each team worked one behind the other.  We never had material sitting here wondering where the workers are and we never had the crew here waiting on material to be delivered.
Christian and his team truly know what they are doing when it comes to home renovations.  His honesty and family owned company was the deciding factor for using them from the start.  Our first meeting with Christian was informative and relaxing.  He listened to our ideas and answered all our question.  He was honest perhaps too honest in going over our ideas.  He gave us excellent suggestions to save us money where things were not needed.  He also gave us many suggestions for the resale of our home in the future. We did have a budget in mind, which from the start he told us was unrealistic.  This sent us to look for other contractors, but came back ultimately, since we felt he was the perfect fit for us.  He pointed out ,in detail, what was wrong with our  budget.
Christian does have a passion for the work he does and you can see this in his work and his team's work and  language.  We had a problem with our floors.  A previous contractor had done some work and when we returned home we were shocked.  It looked terrible.  Christian fixed this problem and put all new beautiful floors in throughout the house.  Jess and Kaleb are the people to speak to in his office.  They are both pleasant and professional.  Hector is the crew leader and he gives attention to every detail and has design experience.  Matt(Christian's brother) was also a great help in making this project run smoothly and be completed when promised
Christian's price was not the lowest and it was not the highest quote we received.  With quality of work we received we feel that a higher price could not have out performed the work we received.  Our neighbor's still can not believe our home.  Sometimes you get more than you pay for.   This is a whole new house, right down to the new deck  with a retractable awning .   5th Gen Group did this for us.  I will be recommending 5th Gen Group to all my friends and neighbors.

"Great! He arrived on time, with the right amount of crew, tools and positive attitude! He was very experienced with Ikea cabinets and knew when we had purchased the wrong items. He also knew when to send me back to Ikea for different parts. Ikea made alot of mistakes and he knew that was common. He wrote down the numbers of the items i needed which was extremely helpful. He and his crew were fantastic and i would hire him again in the future. His prices were very reasonable and i appreciated that. I had two glass doors that were on back order so he said i could hold back $200 from his pay until they czme in. I called him on Sunday and told him i just picked them up. He told me they would be there on Monday morning to finish the job. Of course he arrived on time and he finished the job quickly. Of the 4 companies i hired to do various things in my kitchen his was the only one i didnt have issues with. I asked him to install the lights inside and underneath the cabinets and install the microwave. The lights were difficult but he worked hard until they were done. They make the whole kitchen shine! He was extremely reasonable with the microwave installation price. I asked him for several cards and already passed them out to people that wanted a new kitchen i told them he is the best installer i ever hired. He made this overwhelming project so much easier."

FAQs for awning service projects in Aldie, VA

Retractable awnings are not designed to be used in the rain. They are intended to provide shade on dry, sunny days, rather than protecting people and furnishings from precipitation, and certainly not against heavy storms. The retractable awning may be fine with a light drizzle, but you should retract it if you expect inclement weather or severe storms.

Depending on your local climate conditions, some retractable awnings can be used year-round, including during both winter and summer. However, you should carefully check the instructions for your specific product and find out what steps you should take to winterize the awning fabric. Sometimes, you can purchase a special cover to place over the material during winter.

Retractable awnings offer significant benefits by instantly enhancing outdoor comfort and protecting your furniture and living spaces from harmful UV exposure and inclement weather. They provide efficient shade that lowers cooling expenses and add a modern, stylish touch to your home’s exterior. Their installation extends the usable area of patios and decks while reducing maintenance needs by safeguarding surfaces against sun damage and rain.
