"Great job! Finished product was beautiful, looked just like the examples on their Facebook page. Site work was expertly done including removal of old deck debris, dealing with old concrete footers, concrete slab, etc. No problem for these experienced pros. Price was very much in line with other quotes we got, but First Impressions was professional, responsive and very easy to work with. Weather delayed the project significantly, but to me that means First Impressions is more interested in doing the job right than pouring when it's too cold, too wet, etc. We've already contracted with them for a driveway repair, so complete confidence in the work and would definitely recommend to others. Be patient, they're in high demand, but worth the wait."

"We recently had Rolland Cement do our stamped concrete pool deck and some driveway/sidewalk tear out and replacement. Rolland did our stamped concrete patio a couple years ago and it was awesome so we wanted to match it at the pool. Greg and his crew did not disappoint and the job came out exactly how we hoped. We would highly recommend Rolland Cement for any of your concrete needs."

"Good alternative to replacing concrete. CLI Concrete Leveling out of Ypsilanti was the first to respond with an estimate for driveway repair at my home. I live in Kalamazoo. They are now going to do some work at my office and also do a neighborâ s driveway."

"Within 10 minutes of my request for Quotes on the Home Advisor website I received a call from Mitch, the owner of Hard Rock Construction. I explained what I needed, and we set up an appointment for the next day. The following morning, Mitch arrived at my house exactly when he said he would, and we spent 30-45 minutes going over what I needed and how Mitch proposed to meet my requirements. He gave me a verbal quote before he left, and I had an e-mail with a formal quote later that evening. Mitch said he could start tearing out the old asphalt driveway the following week on Wednesday, and begin pouring the concrete on Thursday. It rained on that Wednesday, so tear out began on Thursday and pouring the concrete began on Friday. The following Monday, the concrete pouring was finished. I am very happy with the entire process, and the new driveway looks OUTSTANDING. Mitch and his crew were complete professionals, and it shows in the results. I would give them 6 stars if the web site allowed it."

"Outstanding Help With Basement Water Leak Erik came to our home to evaluate a water leak that was coming through the concrete wall in our basement, and he was absolutely fantastic. He took the time to clearly explain the root cause of the problem and walked us through the proper repair options in a way that was easy to understand. What I appreciated most was his honesty and professionalism. He didn’t try to oversell anything — instead, he focused on educating us so we could make the right decision. His knowledge of basement foundations and water intrusion issues is impressive, and his recommendations gave us real confidence moving forward with the repair. If you’re dealing with any kind of basement water problem, I highly recommend Erik. It’s rare to find someone who is both highly skilled and genuinely helpful."

FAQs for concrete work projects in Hartland, MI

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.

Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.

Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.

An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
