"We used Pyramid to install quartz countertops in our kitchen, as well as a sink, faucet and garbage disposal (also used their subcontractor to install backsplash). This review is about the countertops and sink/faucet/disposal job-- we loved working with Bogi and the project came out beautifully. We didn't see the quartz we wanted in the Pyramid warehouse (although they had a great selection of granite and other stones), so Bogi suggested we look at MSI near Dulles. Bogi ordered the slabs we selected from MSI, coordinated the plumber to come when the counter top installers were ready for him, and even had them come back to clean up after the backsplash was installed by their subcontractor another day (he left some spilled grout on the countertop that we didn't notice until after he left.) The workers were clean, courteous and efficient."

"Fantastic!! We had a wooden deck for over 12+years and decided to replace it with Trex Decking. Installed a Trex Rain Escape system, cocktail railling, post bottoms were anchored to concrete, lattice on all sides with a custom door, and lighting on post caps!! Ryan was able to customize our deck to our satisfaction in a timely manner. We look forward to using our deck for the next 25 years without all the maintenance of our old deck!! We highly recommend Resurrection Builders, Inc. for making the best decks in town!!"

"Very professional staff...from the technicians who performed the install to the office staff. Both were very courteous and customer service focused. We had 3 quotes from company's (not including the one we got from Home Depot).
US granite was competitively priced and fast to install.
Great overall experience!"

"We needed to have the entire Living floor of our townhouse remodeled. We already had purchased new cabinets for our kitchen. We just needed somebody to remove all of the old stuff in the kitchen and install the new stuff including flooring, cabinets, appliances and lighting. At the same time, we also needed some cabinets installed in the adjacent family room/breakfast nook and office space, fix/replace the flooring thoughout the entire floor and install counters. We found a few potential contractors through Angi but decided on Z and O because the were able to give us one price for all of the work, materials included. The price was competitive, and the timeline was very quick. The entire job took 4 weeks from beginning to end, for a total of 15-17 work days. The crew for the work arrived at a reasonable hour every morning (8a) and worked until 6-7p, Mon-Fri and the occasional Saturday. They sealed off the rest of the house but we still had access through a series of "airlocks". There was no collateral damage to the house. Our Project Manager, Oral Aydogdu, was a pleasure to work with. Very charming and personable, very attentive and very knowledgeable and very responsive to any concern or issue we raised. He was out at our job almost everyday, overseeing our project and coordinated all of the different aspects of the different materials fabrication (including countertops) and installation. When we decided to get our deck replaced in the middle of the kitchen reno, he was able to provide that service as well at a very reasonable price. Once we had agreed on a price, they had a crew out here within a couple of days, the materials were dropped in our driveway, the demo was done in a day, and the new deck was installed in three more days. And did I forget to mention the more than reasonable price? I highly recommend that you consider Z and O Construction if you have a renovation or any other kind of project. Our experience was excellent, and we wouldn't hesitate to consider them again for any other project that we might consider contracting out."

"My husband and I were looking to replace our kitchen countertops with stone, but did not have a lot of time for "shopping around".  We visited three Angie's List members in one afternoon, and DMV Kitchen and Bath was the most responsive and helpful.  We found a beautiful granite, quarried locally, and DMV quickly provided an easy-to-understand proposal.  Once our GC reset the kitchen cabinets, the granite installers came out and measured on Friday and installed on Saturday and Sunday.  There was a bit of confusion on whether we needed to seal the granite or not, and once that was straightened out the installers returned on Tuesday (without complaining!) to seal the counters as the fabricators recommended.  All in all we were quite happy with the experience and would recommend DMV Kitchen and Bath to other Angie's List members.

"WaterStone did a complete remodel of our smallish master bathroom (9' by 9'). They were responsible for all aspects of the project including design, permitting, materials and construction. We had an initial budgetary estimate of 30 to 35K for what we wanted. Other companies either told us the design we wanted (which required relocating plumbing and electrical) was either infeasible or way above our budgetary estimate. Jeff came in, listened to what we wanted and gave us design options that met our needs. After a couple of iterations, we settled on a design and Jeff provided an estimate from $32K to 38K depending on our material selections. He gave us a range of material allowances that were actually reasonable. Ultimately, the contract was executed for just under 38K - no overruns!. Jeff and Deanna helped us make the material selections while keeping us within budget (we went over some allowances and under others). We did not have to make any compromises on our vision for the bathroom. The project was finished in 8 weeks vice the proposed 5 to 6 weeks due mainly to a more difficult than expected demolition and the lead time for the shower glass. Jeff (owner), Deanna (designer), Jake (project manager) and Javier (on site project lead) were personable and easy to deal with. As usual with a project of this magnitude, there were a couple of hiccups along the way. The measure of a contractor is not the issues they have but how quickly and effectively they resolve the issues and WaterStone was topnotch in that regard. Problems were addressed and fixed right away. Two stories that demonstrate why we liked working with WaterStone so much: 1) we wanted quartz countertops but bathroom vanities usually require much less than a full slab. When their normal stone supplier would only quote a full slab which was way over our budget, WaterStone called several other suppliers and found one with a remnant that would meet our needs and would not break the budget; and 2) the glass supplier raised some issues about our proposed design for the shower glass and we started down the path of an alternate, much more expensive design. When Jeff heard, he came over immediately and talked us off the ledge about our concerns with the original design, ultimately saving us from a costly design change. WaterStone designed and built a bathroom that matched our vision for the price we were quoted. We've been using the bathroom for about 6 months now with no problems or issues. The workmanship from the crafts (plumbing, electrical, tile, glass) is superb. They respected our house and minimized any disruption (we slept in our master bedroom throughout the renovation). WaterStone is a gem."

"We couldn’t be more pleased as to the job Bledar and Balteza Services did for us. From start to finish, they were excellent. The outside of our home and all the rooms they painted inside are top notch. They were always prompt, clean and precise in all of their work. I would highly recommend them to anyone.!"

FAQs for countertop and backsplash service projects in Occoquan, VA

Butcher block countertops come in three main styles, each offering a unique look and function. Flat grain, also known as face grain, showcases the natural wood patterns, giving your kitchen a modern and elegant appearance. Edge grain is made from long, narrow wood strips, making it sturdy and providing a consistent grain pattern. End grain features a checkerboard pattern that is highly durable and perfect for heavy food preparation. Each style caters to different aesthetic preferences and usage needs, enhancing your kitchen's look and functionality.

With proper care, wood countertops can last anywhere from 20 to 100 years. To keep yours looking like new, clean up spills immediately and reseal the surface regularly—ideally once a month in the first year, then twice a year after that. Regular maintenance helps preserve the wood's beauty and durability for decades.

Wood countertops aren't hard to maintain if you keep up with regular care. Simply clean them with mild soap and water after use and reseal them monthly during the first year (then twice a year afterward). Using a food-grade oil or sealant protects the wood from damage. With a bit of routine maintenance, your countertop will stay beautiful and durable.

Wood countertops are sanitary with proper care and maintenance. By sealing them with a food-grade sealant and cleaning them regularly with mild soap and water, you create a barrier that prevents bacteria from getting into the wood. Always dry the surface thoroughly after cleaning to keep it hygienic and safe for food prep.

It's best to oil raw wood countertops once a month during the first year. After that, you can oil them twice yearly to keep them in good shape. If your countertop is professionally stained or sealed, you might not need to oil it as often. Regular oiling helps prevent drying and cracking, preserving the wood's natural beauty and durability.
