"These folks are so personable. I called them because my pellet stove died. They came the same day on time and assessed my stove. It clearly needed to be replaced. The very next day they came and replaced it with a beautiful new pellet stove. They are prompt, professional, and efficient. I would highly recommend Omar and his crew for any stove or chimney job. Thank you again for your great service!!!"

"Paul came to my home to clean chimney for the end of the season. He was on time and very knowledgeable. I eventually want to replace my woodburning fireplace insert with a pellet insert. Paul cleaned the chimney and was very neat and clean, no mess. I asked what he would charge for a pellet stove insert, which I had not yet purchased. He quoted me between $400-$500.00. Another contractor from Home Advisor quoted me a breathtaking $2,500! The latter informed me that my stainless steel liner, which was installed by them 2 1/2 years ago, needed to be replaced with a new 3-foot liner for pellet stove. In addition, they insisted on a 30% deposit. Fortunately, after regaining my senses, I stopped the job and called Paul. He confirmed installation of a new stainless steel liner was not required and the installation of the pellet insert can be completed with applicable adapters. Moreover, he showed me the horrendous job the other contractor did connecting the liner to my woodburner, as in, it was not even connected properly plus they beat the daylights out of my firebox! I took photos of the mess! As soon as I purchase the pellet insert, I will call to do the job."

Small jobs welcome

"We hired JT to repair a chimney that was leaking and absorbing water through cracks in the crown along with some installation issues. There was also some wood damage to the adjacent trim. JT provided a very detailed quote and offered several options to address the issue. After we decided to work with him, he started very quickly as some bad weather was in the forecast. The job was done quickly, clean-up was excellent and we are very happy with the work done. TJ emailed us with updates as the job progressed. We would highly recommend JT for chimney repairs."

"Edmar and his helper Marcio were fantastic. They were conscientious of our property. They rebuilt a patio and changed our deck to extend the patio for us. They also built steps leading to the patio and a wall to encase the patio with a fence on top so our pup does not escape. The final project is absolutely breathtaking! In the past 3 years of living here we have not used this patio area so much. I could not be happier with the job they completed. Cannot wait to have them back to rebuild the outdoor fireplace and steps leading to the front door. We have recommended him to our neighbors"

"Job took approximately 3 weeks for a full overhaul of our front and back yards. Performed all of the necessary demolition (removed old bushes/plants, decayed fences, loose stone retaining wall) over the first couple days. When unforeseen overages occurred, such as repaired rotten wood on the house so the deck couple be attached or shifting and already installed section of the fence based on neighbor request, he was more then willing to swallow the costs and keep everyone happy. There was a delay of a few weeks to get the gates installed on the fences and deck but that was due to issues with the fabricator and not this contractor. While the job was more then I was hoping to spend, I'm extremely happy with the end result."

FAQs for fireplace and wood stove service projects in South Lancaster, MA

Start with a professional inspection. If damage is limited to a few bricks or the crown, a targeted repair helps keep costs and disruption to a minimum. Severe leaning, widespread mortar failure, or major fire damage usually signals it’s time for a complete teardown and rebuild. Your contractor will outline both price tags, but remember that rebuilding a failing stack is often cheaper than repeated patch jobs and the water leaks or fire hazards they allow.

Cracks provide water with an easy path into the masonry, weakening the bricks and mortar and increasing the risk of collapse or fire. Gaps can also let hot gases and sparks escape into attic spaces. Call a chimney pro as soon as you see cracking so they can seal small joints or recommend a larger rebuild before minor damage turns into a costly emergency.

Smoke rolling back into the room often indicates a blocked flue, a broken damper, or a drafting issue. Have a sweep inspect the damper, flue liner, and any obstructions right away. Most fixes involve clearing debris, repairing the liner, or adjusting the damper so the fireplace pulls air correctly. Don’t light another fire until a professional pinpoints the cause and confirms your system is venting safely.

Most policies cover chimney repairs caused by a sudden, covered event, such as lightning, a fallen tree, or a house fire. They won’t cover damage that stems from neglected maintenance or everyday wear. Review your policy or contact your agent before scheduling work to determine what documentation your insurer requires and what costs you will be responsible for.

Component life spans vary. Clay tile or cast-in-place liners last close to 50 years, while stainless-steel liners last 15 to 20 years. Mortar requires attention every 25 to 30 years, while crowns last 50 to 75 years. Use these numbers as a maintenance roadmap: schedule regular inspections, budget for future upgrades, and replace parts before age-related cracks develop into more significant problems.
