"If you need superior, professional and punctual technical installation, Top Quality Heating & Cooling is the small business you can rely on. Long story short, older GE furnace started leaking water from unseen rusted coils (thought is was the condenser unit). The tech adviser, Jeremy, evaluated the extent of the problem, gave me choices (cost comparison and warranty information) and placed an order as quickly as possible knowing 90+ temperatures were norm in August! Their administrator, Bethany, kept me informed regarding obtaining the parts from out of State (COVID19 slowed down shipment from local parts warehouses). Three days later a whole new TRANE system has been installed by the best installation team ever: Ferando & Ricardo. Thank you, Team Top Quality!"

"Phil's team did a great job. They were punctual. They kept their work area clean, and left the place looking like it did before they came. The guys were professional, and Phil followed up with me at my home after the install to do a final inspection of the work. Phil got me significantly increased air flow for a marginal additional cost. This was probably the best part of the service. He understands how to maximize the system. I will definitely use Energy Sharks in the future, and I have already recommended them to others."

"I was having a problem with MS Office not responding and other files being very, very slow to open. Jim started looking for the cause right away. He did numerous checks for viruses, malware, and various other things that can go wrong. He vigorously pursued a resolution pretty steadily for two days before determining it was a malfunctioning external backup system that was causing the problem. With that finding, he promptly got my computer running smoothly and very fast again. He made two trips to my house; on the first one, he had to cross a sheet of ice in my driveway. Jim is a very capable and experienced computer analyst that will get after your problem because he fully understands the importance of, and the need to have a working computer in the house.

"The AmeriServ Tech arrived when scheduled and serviced the door.  My wife was present while the work was being performed.  Prior to doing the work he told her the cost would be $525 to replace the current WD TorqueMaster system with their convention spring system.  The tech commented the WD TorqueMaster was inferior quality (though the unit lasted 13+ years of service - we purchased the house new in 2001).  He said it would take 10 days to get the WD TorqueMaster "parts" and it would cost the same to replace.  So she said to go ahead and replace the tension spring unit with a conventional spring system.
When I got home I saw what was done and questioned why the cost was so high given the small amount of parts replaced and going to a "traditional" tension spring system.  I called AmeriServ to discuss the pricing and provided other quotes for repair/replacing a single garage door tension spring system (other quotes were between $250 to $350) and asked for a price reduction.  The GM said if I provided the written quotes he would consider my request.  I sent the quotes by e-mail and confirmed he read the e-mail (read receipt).  I received no response and was billed the full amount of $525.
The job was completed on-time and was performed as expected, but we were mislead and overcharged for the job.  We do not recommend this contractor for mis-leading us to believe we were receiving a "better quality system" for the same amount of money.

"The crew of three men arrived as promised. They were polite and professional throughout the entire process. They kept me informed of what they were doing and asked my preference several times along the way.  They covered our furniture and floors and were very conscientious about protecting our belongings. The company owner stopped by to check on the job both days of work.
The actual work was jack hammering 8 inches of basement floor for 36 feet at the foot of the wet wall. They carried out all the debris and carried in clean gravel to lay in the trench along with a pvc pipe with holes in it for drainage.  Then they covered the pipe with more clean gravel.  They installed a drain in the system in the event of major water (we don't have this problem but it's great to have should a water pipe break or something in the future) and installed a pump to move the water out of the basement.  They installed a drain into which we can directly drain our dehumidifier and installed another drain access along the wall if we would ever want to move the dehumidifier or install another one.
They also installed a drain against the wet wall that would drain into the drain and pump system. Then they cemented over the trench so all that is visible is a fraction of an inch of drain against the wall and you wouldn't even know it was there unless you stood very close to the wall and looked down.
The place was a mess throughout the process -- it's just a dirty, messy job. But the crew cleaned up after themselves and, aside from the inevitable light coat of dust on most surfaces, they left our place as they found it originally. I couldn't ask for more of them.
The only item left is for the electrician to install a GFCI box for the pump and dehumidifier.  AAA does not do electrical work but they contacted one for me and we are making those arrangements now.
Overall, this was a great job and I couldn't be more pleased. I'm very glad we went with Jeff and Donna and their crew for this project.

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Mineral Bluff, GA

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
