"Getting a walk in tub is expensive no matter who you use. My experience thus far is with installation only and I must say my install went great. It has been over a month and no issues with my tub so I cannot comment on repair process with American Standard."

"All workers were respectful and polite. They finished work in less time than I thought and cleaned up any mess which I appreciated. Tub and wall look beautiful. They explained how to use it. Customer service was great starting with sales rep and throughout installation. They removed the big whirlpool tub and installed a walk-in tub."

"We were contacted pretty quickly to set up a time to come out and measure our counters. My wife is a teacher so she was unable to be home to speak together with them during normal business hours. We only had a .pdf of the offered types of granite and little knowledge of the edge conditions offered so we set up a time on a Saturday to go to the warehouse (about an hours drive away). I emailed for directions to the warehouse (it's not in the same town as listed on Angie's list) but no one got back to me so I called that morning and someone told me the address. We were shown all of the slab options. We picked out the slab at the warehouse and were told that they would call to set up a time to measure. They called and we set up a time for me to be there. All went well with the measuring. I was then contacted to set up a delivery time. They said Wednesday the  20th. I cleared out the cabinets and unhooked the sink the day before and took time off from work the morning of the 20th. At approx. 8:30AM on the 20th I received a call saying there was a mixup and they had two work orders one said they were going to cut the stone on the 20th and deliver it on the 21st and the other said they were supposed to install on the 20th. I had to wait one more day and take more time off of work. The delivery people arrived on the 21st and installed the cabinets. They did a good job. We did have some cracked plaster where they had to cut away some of the old wainscotting to fit the backsplash in, its an old house so nothing is straight. I had to contact the company  and requested information on how to care for the counter tops. They got me that information in a timely manner. Besides the delivery mixup I wish they could have measured and located the sink strainer more accurately directly above the previous one. They do however say they are not responsible for any plumbing (I did learn how to cut and install ABS plumbing fixtures so that was a plus).

"Excellent, Ken is a stand up electrician. He walked us through everything and gave his opinion on the job and the best way to handle it all. His work is clean and professional. Ken was easy to work with and he was extremely personable with out little 3yo handyman. We would hire and recommend Ken to anyone who wants an honest and well done electrical job."

FAQs for walk in tub installation and replacement projects in Adirondack, NY

Because Medicare classifies walk-in tubs as non-durable medical equipment, it generally won’t pick up the tab. Medicaid can help if a doctor certifies that the tub is medically necessary, but rules change by state. Call your plan early, ask which forms you need, and keep any prescriptions or letters on file to improve your odds of reimbursement.

A walk-in bathtub’s fill and drain times hinge on your home’s water pressure and the tub’s hardware. Most models with a fast-fill faucet need about six to eight minutes to fill and two to three minutes to drain; larger basins or standard drains can tack on an extra 10 minutes. Stay seated until the water is completely gone so you don’t swing the door open on a full tub’s worth of water.

A walk-in bathtub holds 50 gallons of water, and its design supports capacities that range from 40 to 80 gallons, depending on the product. In contrast, a standard bathtub holds 25 to 45 gallons. This capacity is determined by the fixed design of the tub and its construction materials. Homeowners should review the detailed product specifications to confirm the exact volume available for use during bath time.

Walk-in tubs are tax-deductible when the purchase qualifies as a necessary medical expense and meets the IRS criteria. Caregivers who install a walk-in tub also qualify for the Dependent Care Tax Credit under specific conditions. Homeowners must verify these requirements with the IRS and consult a tax professional, as state and program guidelines enforce strict documentation standards for such deductions.
