"Needed a pool filled in. Seemed like an easy enough project, but soon was in over my head and needed professional help. Josh was super easy to work with. offered lots of honest, cost saving advice. The project went under budget and was done early. All I could ever want. Honest, reliable professional help. I can't recommend them enough !!!"

"It is a pleasure to deal with a company that shows up, exceeds expectations, and leaves with no issues-this sums up my experience with Foothills Concrete. I called multiple concrete contractors to have a driveway extension installed. Some didn't return calls, some showed up but didn't follow through, some were unprofessional. Rowdy III showed up on time, answered my questions patiently, and provided a timely estimate. Rowdy provided advice that made our project turn out much better than expected. When the time came to do the work, his crew came and worked carefully to minimize messes, were friendly, helpful, funny, and did a beautiful job reshaping the yard to accommodate the driveway-making it look awesome. Everyone on the crew was personable, and my wife and I enjoyed talking to them while watching the progress. After the driveway was complete, they cleaned up any messes, leaving the area better than when they arrived. I am sometimes difficult to please, and rarely am I completely happy. I can think of no negatives and am blown away by the finished product! This is one of the best experiences I have had with a company and I wholeheartedly recommend them for any project!"

"We are so pleased with our project of a new driveway. The guys did an awesome job creating a new driveway to connect to the original driveway; cut down numerous trees; hauled in many truck loads of gravel for the 1 mile driveway. Yisrael and Jade kept us informed the entire time on the project and even sent us pictures. We could not have asked for anything more and the quality of work was exceptional! This was a huge project. We will use them again in the near future for more work."

"EXCEPTIONAL EVERYTHING Last year, I experienced one of those nightmares that we all hope will never happen--that unexpected act of nature which resulted not only in the downing and loss of a huge beautiful tree but the loss of an important building that was unfortunately located in the path of this fallen giant A bad experience that you knew from the onset was going to occupy hours, days and even months that would effectually crap all over my comfortable status quo. I recently completed a project with Garrett Construction/Roofing Company and the experience exceeded my expectations from start to finish. If you are looking for a team that balances structural integrity with a genuine eye for design, this is it. I'm thrilled with the final result and from all who were involved from top management down. For anyone needing a team that is dependable, financially honest, and truly skilled at their craft, I can't recommend Garrett highly enough. "

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Alcoa, TN

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
