"We badly needed insulation in our attic. We got three quotes. Weather Shield was not only the most reasonable, but the only company in which the owner both gave us the quote and installed the insulation with colleague. We could not have asked for more professionalism or better service. Would highly recommend Gus."

"Kevin did an outstanding job of evaluating my basement project, making suggestions, and overseeing the 2 different crews that did the job. Both of the crews did a great job protecting the areas from getting any damage. We had closed cell foam sprayed on all the exterior walls and the sills, including underneath the 3 bay windows, The second crew sprayed a layer of cellulose that makes for a quiet wall all the way to the edge of each stud. They cleaned up after the job before they left."

"Robert was very helpful and patient during our consultation and was willing to take the time to understand our somewhat-complicated split-level house to make sure he was recommending the right work to be done. We ended up going with closed-cell foam under the floor in the crawl-space of a bump-out room, on the rim joists in the basement, and in the lower 2 feet where a foundation wall had been left un-insulated above the frost line. As an extra bonus, ARC Insulation was also willing/able to coordinate with the general contractor for a bathroom remodel we were doing around the same time, and foamed the exterior wall of the bathroom while the wall was open for the remodel. Also, I would say a sign of a good company is how they handle unexpected set-backs. In our case, when the foam truck arrived at the agreed-to time, unfortunately the foam machine had stopped working, and the workers were unable to start the job (truck needed to be brought in for repairs). Craig was extremely helpful to keep our project (and the bathroom remodel) on track and was able to get another truck to come out the following morning. The following morning, the workers arrived on time, did a reasonable job at protecting areas not being sprayed (all I noticed was some red spots on the carpet from when they snapped a chalk line and some overspray on the wall that would need re-painting anyways), and cleaned up after themselves when done. Shortly after they finished, there was a chemical-like smell for a few hours, which I was able to get rid of by running fans in the windows for a while. After 24 hours, there was no detectable smell. Finally, ARC Insulation was quite understanding / helpful when the general contractor for my bathroom remodel complained that the foam stuck out past the furring strips on the wall, preventing them from installing cement board for the shower. That same afternoon, two workers came to trim down the excess foam, and the shower-work was able to proceed the following day."

"It went really well. Robert Carroll really knows his stuff. Hire this guy. I say that without reservation of any kind. Don't look any further, believe me, I did. This is the smartest guy. He is honest, dependable, offers fair pricing, and his team can do all the work. I got several estimates from A+ rated insulation companies, but Robert was more knowledgeable than the other companies. He was the only one to point out that my soffits were not vented. Apparently, my house was built on the day no one was inspecting. The builder never cut open the soffits. That meant there was zero airflow going through my attic. The attic fan could run all day, but without air to move, it would not do any good. Only Robert noticed this and offered a solution to fix the problem! I asked some of the other A+ companies if they would vent the soffits and they all said they don't do that work, but they would be happy to add more insulation, which would not fix the problem if the attic was not vented."

"Carlos the owner gave a competitive quote and did a good job to spray foam my basement. He paid attention to details and found the crack where mice come in and sealed it."

"Very professional and courteous team. Five team members where here for six hours installing, new fan roof vents, removing old duct work including a bird nest, installed new vents between the beams, discovered builder originally did not properly insulate one area above master bath and corrected that area too. Had insulation blown in very deep to R49 and once done with house attic had garage attic also fixed and insulation installed. We have seen a big improvement, bedrooms are so warm now we keep thermostat on 63 or 65 from midnight to 0800 and 65 to 67 during the day. Garage is not freezing anymore and recently with temperatures at 30 to 10 degrees outside the garage is still between 47 to 43 which keeps any garden, household or automotive products from freezing out there which helps with storage of these products. A professional team from evaluation, quotes, installation, office scheduling, payments and follow-up. Highly Recommended. Thank you, Robert USN Retired"

"I am very happy with the work done by Green Attic Insulation. David and Charlie were very friendly, professional, responsive, and flexible in working with my changing needs. I originally was looking into insulation but then discovered there was mold in my attic. As the job grew, David, Charlie, and their team worked with me to address the additional parts of the job. I really appreciate their knowledge and the thorough job they did. They took many pictures of their progress and kept me informed each step of the way. Thank you very much!"

FAQs for spray foam insulation projects in Arlington Heights, IL

Local and federal rebates are available for insulation installation, which can significantly reduce your overall costs. Many utility companies offer incentives or rebates to homeowners who improve their home's energy efficiency. Contact your local energy provider or government agencies to learn about available programs in your area, and consult with a professional insulation installer to maximize your savings.

It's not necessary to remove old insulation before adding new insulation, as long as the existing insulation is in good condition—dry, free of mold, and not damaged. Adding new insulation on top of old insulation can improve your home's energy efficiency by increasing the overall R-value. However, if the old insulation is wet, moldy, or damaged, it's best to remove it before installing new insulation to prevent potential health risks and ensure optimal performance.

Insulating a house takes between five and twelve hours for batts or boards, and two to five hours for spray foam or blown-in insulation. The exact time depends on the size of your home, the type of insulation, and the accessibility of the areas being insulated. Keep in mind that projects may take longer if old insulation needs removal, if there's a larger square footage, or if spaces are difficult to reach.
