"AlphaFoundations reached out several times to remind me of my appointment. They provided detailed information to keep me aware of what to expect. The crew (Zack and Ray) were helpful and polite. They did a great job installing new support beams in my crawl space/basement. Highly recommend."

"Though I did not use Better Builder's for these jobs, simultaneously we found we needed more immediate and crucial work completed on the house requiring more specialized experts, Lloyd from BB was more than helpful in providing options for what could be done in the remodel and the names of contacts and subcontractors such as electricians, plumbers etc <br />"

"Tracy quoted me a price and told me 5 days and he and Troy "Val" worked through some storms and finished on time. The difference in the original quote-which was a minimal increase -was agreed upon extra work we had him do since he was here. He and Val ended up doing some work on a neighbor's roof when he had finished my job, so it was convenient having him nearby the next two days as we put the finishing touches on our bathroom remodel and has questions or saw little things for him to fix--which he did."

"The package was to include caulking and minor repairs, all exterior painting, washing and prepping of all surfaces, and labor. Paint was to be paid for by the homeowner. We ALSO had to purchase the caulking, the blue tape and papers for covering the windows. They were to start on either March 31 or April 1, but when I called Mike to let him know they could start on Apr. 1, he said they had another job to do that day, and they would start on April 2. They did start on April 2nd, but never showed up until almost 10 in the morning, and the same thing happened on the two following days. Mike did very little of the actual work, he left many, many times, especially on the first 2 days. He seemed to spend a lot of time on his cell phone, when the others were working. His "helpers', Julian and Marty, did 90% or more of the actual work, and they worked well. On the third day, when they thought they were done and were packing up to leave, we had to point out to them areas that needed to be touched up or finished. They also had to use our ladders which were in our garage, as they didn't seem to have any of their own. <br />     I also hired Mike to pressure wash our pool deck and fence, and we'd agreed on a price ($200) but the work was done by Marty and Julian, again. Mike told me at least 3 times during the course of the 3 days that he hadn't been paid by Angie's List yet, that Angie's List took 30% of his pay, and asked more than once about the price of the pressure washing. I told him that I paid up front for the entire job when I contracted him on Angie's List. We were considering having some additional staining or painting work done to the fence by Mike, but changed our minds by the third day. I feel that he may be having some financial stress, but that is not my concern with a contractor. I expect the contractor to keep his personal problems to himself. <br />"

"The technician who came to do the work completed it in a little under three hours.  Although I had been told the work would cost so much because it required two people, the cost was the same as the original quote.  But we were very happy for a couple reasons.  One was that three different companies had come out to repair the unit under our home  warantee (American Homeshield) and no one had bothered to tell us about the need for the second air filter.  Only when we paid out of pocket on our own did we discover this problem. Second, it made such a huge difference in the cooling of the house we were just really satisfied.   <br /> <br /> But there were aggravations, mainly with the lack of communications between employees.  The person who came out to do the work did not know he was supposed to bring a filter, nor did he know he was supposed to perform the original performance check.  He did not have th forms with him that detailed what was included in the check, but said he did it anyway.  The invoice was not itemized, so I had no way of knowing what I paid for. He said he would be back the next day with the filter and the form.  After a reminder phone call he finally returned with a filter that did not fit.  After one full week of repeated phone calls and emails from me we finally had the filter and an itemized invoice. I had been told the filter was an unusual size and they had to special order it, but when it eventually came I was told the filter was actually a standard size after all. The detailed invoice was emailed to me as well.  They are really very nice people and I was happy with what I received in spite of what I think was an inflated price.  As with many companies, patience and perseverences was needed to get the job done completely as promised."

"I had two years of experience with them. I interviewed about 15 contractors because it was going to cost more than the value of the house. We really did a lot. I was very happy with them. They were amazing. They were all so professional and they were always on time. They didn't smoke or curse around my kids. They were top-notch in every way. I found it to be a competitive price. My friends who call me and wanted to do construction work, I always recommend them. I always tell them that's where to go."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Attapulgus, GA

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
