"Had my basement ceiling tiles inspected. I received the test results verbally the next day and the report was emailed to me within 2 business days. Very fast and efficient. The bonus was that I didn't have asbestos in my tiles."

"Finding that we had asbestos in the orange peel of the entire first floor of our newly purchased home was quite a disappointing shock. After researching several companies on Angie's List, and educating myself on the pitfalls and red flags of asbestos abatement, I interviewed four companies. From the moment I met Brian I could tell that he was reliable, professional and really knowledgeable about that crazy, and often crooked, industry. Abatement is always a painful, and in our case, expensive process for the homeowner. However, Brian managed to alleviate a lot of the stress that comes with this expense. He was not the cheapest bid we received, nor was he the most expensive. But he assured us that the job would be done correctly, legally, and in a timely fashion. Despite two days of heavy winter storms, he and his employees showed up at the day and time promised and completed the abatement a day early. Brian was on site, and provided us with photos of the work in progress. The site was left in very clean condition. No one ever wants to have to call Brian, but if you find yourself in need of abatement, rest assured you will be in great hands. <br>"

"This was the 3rd time I’ve used Axium (specifically Tim Krapfl) for home inspection. Tim is very thorough, knowledgeable, and professional! I highly recommend. Tim did the home inspection, but the services also included sewer scope and radon testing."

"The company was very professional. Asbestos Professional showed up on schedule and under budget. During my kitchen and bathroom remodel, the schedule had to be changed several times due to our schedule. Asbestos was able to accommodate the changing schedule. The clean-up was perfection. We passed air quality tests in fly colors. Personnel communicated every step of the way. I would definitely use them again."

"Perspective Property Inspections and their owners Tamera and Russ were great to work with. They were very thorough and took the time to explain the problems they found and helped us prioritize what concessions to ask for from the home seller while buying. I have seen a lot of home inspection reports and theirs was the best. It was both very detailed and also easy to read with lots of photos and everything clearly prioritized. They did a home inspection, radon test and mold test for us. They are hard working, honest, diligent and really know their stuff. I strongly recommend them if you are buying a home."

FAQs for asbestos testing projects in Aurora, CO

Asbestos appears as long, thin, or curled mineral fibers that are not visible to the naked eye under normal conditions. Homes constructed before 1989 are more likely to contain this material, so a professional inspection is essential. Because asbestos identification requires specialized techniques, having a certified inspector assess your property is the safest way to confirm its presence and protect your family’s health.

Free asbestos testing services do not exist. You can purchase testing kits online for $30 per unit, and these kits include lab fees, return shipping, consultation, sampling media, and the final results. The results from a kit are less detailed and accurate than those provided by a certified asbestos testing professional. Since collecting a sample exposes you to harmful fibers, hiring a professional is essential to ensure safety and accurate testing.

Receiving asbestos test results takes one to seven days, but different labs offer varying turnaround times. When expedited processing is arranged, the laboratory completes analysis within 24 hours; standard processing requires up to two weeks. Hiring a certified professional ensures that all samples are collected correctly and results are provided without delay, safeguarding your home throughout the process.

Home insurance doesn't often cover asbestos testing and removal. Many policies have a clause called a "pollution exclusion," which means they do not cover indoor pollutants like asbestos. However, your insurance company might cover something like asbestos siding removal costs if it is released due to things beyond your control, such as storm damage.

If a DIY project or accident in your home releases harmful fibers, you must pay for the test and removal.

Yes, you can legally inspect and remove asbestos in your house as long as it's a single-family home and not a multi-family unit. However, the EPA strongly recommends hiring an asbestos abatement pro since testing can be dangerous.

Pros have all the right tools and safety equipment, and you risk breathing in the fibers by taking samples yourself. They also know how to collect samples and safely dispose of materials properly.

Asbestos encapsulation is a process that seals asbestos-containing materials with a protective barrier to prevent the release of harmful fibers. It serves as an alternative to complete removal when full abatement is not necessary. Encapsulation costs between $2 and $6 per square foot, offering a cost-effective option that contains asbestos safely when applied by a certified professional.
