"It was frustrating. I bought the service because of an Angie's List promotion. When I received the package I opened it and saw what it was and set it aside. I was very busy and planned to get to it in a few days. I had to go out of town for a few days, then I had a ridiculous string of bad luck with multiple car breakdowns. I have a neuromuscular disease so everything I do is very difficult and exhausting. With so much happening, I forgot about the test kit. Then after a couple weeks I get a call from Mold Lab asking about the kit saying it was past the due back date and they were going to charge me $25 a day late fee on the pump. I was stunned! I opened the box and there was nothing inside saying it was due by a certain time. I re-read the Angie's List ad and there was nothing there either. The lady was very rude and kept interrupting me saying the same things over and over like maybe I would finally understand if she kept repeating it. I understood the first time. She wouldn't listen to understand I didn't know about the deadline but now that I was made aware of it I would do the testing that day and ship it that day. What else could I do? That wasn't good enough she had to repeat her lecture a few more times. After sending it in I was told I would receive a text when it was complete and I would receive an email with results within a few days. After a month I called and the same lady answered. She claimed to have sent an email, but didn't know the date and told me to check my junk mail folder. I checked everywhere but had no record of it. I explained I hadn't received the text either, she had no response for that. So she sent an email while we were on the phone and I received it immediately. I printed out the results but without the proper training or experience in laboratory sciences it was basically useless."

"Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories, Inc. sent a package with 2 vials and instructions for collecting the samples.  I collected the samples as instructed, completed a questionnaire, and returned the sample vials as instructed.  A week or two later they sent the analysis.  Everything went as expected.  There were no problems. <br />"

"Very thorough home inspection. My realtor recommended them, and they didn't disappoint! Excellent work on radon mitigation. My building contractor came to the house, and he saw the work. He also said they did a fabulous job."

"Excellent Resource, Rick immediately and efficiently identified the source of the damage, which was surprising and reassuring at the same time. He was on time, thorough, and efficient in his analysis. The issues was critical since the source was a construction problem and needed to be corrected via the original contractor. I was very pleased with Rick's findings as much of the mold issues he identified were hidden. Very pleased with his work and my investment."

After serving for almost 9 years in the military, we wanted to start a company with a simple mission: Helping People. That company, PuroClean, happens to be in the property restoration business, dealing with the devastating effects of water, fire, mold or biohazard damage. We restore homes, we restore businesses, but mostly we restore peace of mind. We do this by striving to provide an exceptional service experience, responding quickly, ethically and, most importantly, with compassion for what you are experiencing.

"We contacted Precision Restoration Services (PRS) after we discovered a large amount of mold growing inside our incorrectly built (unvented) cathedral ceiling. Aaron's estimate was in-line with, and actually a bit lower than other contractors we had contacted. Once we realized that all our furniture was going to have to be moved out of the house, we decided to have PRS do the flooring and kitchen work that we had been wanting to do anyway. Aaron and his employees maintained excellent communications with us. They saved us a lot of money by stopping work to wait for the insurance adjuster to come inspect the insides of our ceiling after the drywall was removed. They kept us informed every step of the way. Every single employee of PRS was exceptionally professional and a joy to work with. Most of the subcontractors that PRS had to bring in were also excellent. We have worked with several different contractors and tradesman over the years, and the experience with PRS was the best we've ever had. <br /> Every step of the way PRS used plastic to shield areas from construction dust. There was never trash or construction debris spread around the house or yard. Of course there was waste, but they kept it contained and hauled it off each week. At the end of the project they cleaned everything that had been affected by the construction. They didn't just sweep, they dusted furniture, windowsills and fixtures and cleaned floors. When the project was complete, the house looked like a home. <br /> All of the construction was of excellent quality. The employees of PRS are all craftsman who clearly take pride in their work. All of the construction and painting was done with exceptional attention to detail. At the completion of the work, Aaron walked through the house with us and prepared a punch-list of work to be completed. We noted a few things, but he pointed out some things that we didn't notice. <br /> I would not hesitate to use PRS again, and highly recommend them for any restoration or general construction projects. <br /> <br />"

FAQs for asbestos testing projects in Asheville, NC

Asbestos appears as long, thin, or curled mineral fibers that are not visible to the naked eye under normal conditions. Homes constructed before 1989 are more likely to contain this material, so a professional inspection is essential. Because asbestos identification requires specialized techniques, having a certified inspector assess your property is the safest way to confirm its presence and protect your family’s health.

Free asbestos testing services do not exist. You can purchase testing kits online for $30 per unit, and these kits include lab fees, return shipping, consultation, sampling media, and the final results. The results from a kit are less detailed and accurate than those provided by a certified asbestos testing professional. Since collecting a sample exposes you to harmful fibers, hiring a professional is essential to ensure safety and accurate testing.

Receiving asbestos test results takes one to seven days, but different labs offer varying turnaround times. When expedited processing is arranged, the laboratory completes analysis within 24 hours; standard processing requires up to two weeks. Hiring a certified professional ensures that all samples are collected correctly and results are provided without delay, safeguarding your home throughout the process.

Home insurance doesn't often cover asbestos testing and removal. Many policies have a clause called a "pollution exclusion," which means they do not cover indoor pollutants like asbestos. However, your insurance company might cover something like asbestos siding removal costs if it is released due to things beyond your control, such as storm damage.

If a DIY project or accident in your home releases harmful fibers, you must pay for the test and removal.

Yes, you can legally inspect and remove asbestos in your house as long as it's a single-family home and not a multi-family unit. However, the EPA strongly recommends hiring an asbestos abatement pro since testing can be dangerous.

Pros have all the right tools and safety equipment, and you risk breathing in the fibers by taking samples yourself. They also know how to collect samples and safely dispose of materials properly.

Asbestos encapsulation is a process that seals asbestos-containing materials with a protective barrier to prevent the release of harmful fibers. It serves as an alternative to complete removal when full abatement is not necessary. Encapsulation costs between $2 and $6 per square foot, offering a cost-effective option that contains asbestos safely when applied by a certified professional.
