"Easy to work with, fast and reliable. When we need emergency asbestos testing they make room in their schedule to fit us in. Explain/answers my questions on things I may not understand when it comes to asbestos. Great crew I will continue working with them in the future."

"Highly recommended. We needed our attic tested for Asbestos before putting new roof and insulation in. Todd returned my call immediately, patiently answered all of my questions and tested the attic next day. This was great, because the roof was going up 3 days later! Luckily there was no asbestos and we could proceed with the work. I’m very grateful for Todd and Umbrella Environmental."

"Great company to work with! The service was great from the beginning of the process to completion. It was easy to work with their scheduling of the project and their electronic payment system. I had lots of concerns about having the asbestos tiles removed from my basement and I had lots of questions. Harrison took the time to explain how the project would be handled, he was very patient with me in answering all my concerns so that I felt confidence in hiring EnviroGo. The crew doing the work showed up at the time they said they would and the technicians and supervisor were very personable and professional in explaining how they would prep the area to do the containment. I was happy with the respect they showed to my property and the finished work. I received the Air monitoring test results about 24 hours after the work was completed and all was good. I would hire EnviroGo again if I had another project that needed this type of work."

"DJK Environmental did a great job removing asbestos floor tiles and mastic in my basement. All the work was done as promised and everyone I talked to at the company was professional and courteous. The price was reasonable and they even came out on a Sunday to complete the work. I had a tight deadline and they were booked out a few weeks - but they found time to meet my deadline. Highly recommend!"

"First of all, Martine was awesome. She is very friendly and communicates all the information very clearly. I enjoyed asking her questions and learning about this process and what it entails. She did 3 or 4 tests in a finished basement corner for me where I knew some water came in through a window. One test in particular came back so extremely high it scared us. Much higher than normal, in the hundreds of thousands - they recommend remediation immediately at just a couple thousand. So naturally we moved right ahead with mold remediation from a company that does this, only to find that there was barely anything at all back there. The dry wall and insulation had barely any mold on it. <br /> I do not blame the mold tests entirely since it is quite possible that when the air was sampled it came from exactly within a tight concentration of mold in the insulation, although small. What I would warn others about is to be very cautious about mold tests as they can vary throughout the day, and it seems that mold remediation is the new big industry (my opinion). I would have been fine without the nearly $2,500 remediation costs we ended up doing because of this abnormally high test. <br /> For those that can actually visibly see mold in their home, I would recommend this service. For those like me who were unsure about what lies behind the wall.....wear a mask and carefully remove a piece of wall for yourself, and if you see mold, call Martine. I'm sure the mold testers would disagree on removing the wall yourself, but it might save you a few thousand and lots of construction pains. <br />"

"<p>Our 1950s era house had multiple layers of asbestos-laden flooring in the bathroom. We had Dirty Ducts come in and remove all the flooring before we started a bathroom remodel.</p> <p>They showed up on time and were done slightly faster than they estimated.  </p> <p>Since we were working with asbestos I was somewhat nervous, but they were extremely safety conscious and did a great job of sealing off the rest of the house.</p> <p>We are planning a bigger job in the future of removing kitchen flooring and will definitely be using Dirty Ducts again for our floor removal needs.</p> <p>Based on my overall experience with the company I would also generally recommend them for any other work.</p> <br />"

"<p>Sure, it looked as if we had a giant octopus in our house (they used a drying machine that directed air through nozzles into holes in the walls and ceiling) but it was very effective. Once everything was dry, they tested it again with their special cameras/sensors, and then patched the drywall/ceiling and repainted. You honestly can't even tell anything ever happened.</p> <p>They laid paper and plastic down during the job, and wore booties--very important to me, as we have small kids and a dog. They were extremely nice, friendly and professional--also very important, as my husband works from home and youngest is only in preschool, so around much of the day. </p> <p>We ended up needing an electrician and plumber, and they made a recommendation and managed that so we didn't have to. The people they selected were equally professional and helpful.</p> <p>They were very busy, given the unusually cold winter and many busted pipes, but the communication was always clear and consistent, which is important.</p> <p>Our insurance company was very familiar with Certi-Dry and accepted their estimate without needing an onsite inspection, because of their history and reputation. That made us feel quite comfortable. </p> <p>I hope I never have to use them again, but would absolutely recommend them without hesitation to anyone else.</p> <br />"

FAQs for asbestos testing projects in Madison, WI

Asbestos appears as long, thin, or curled mineral fibers that are not visible to the naked eye under normal conditions. Homes constructed before 1989 are more likely to contain this material, so a professional inspection is essential. Because asbestos identification requires specialized techniques, having a certified inspector assess your property is the safest way to confirm its presence and protect your family’s health.

Free asbestos testing services do not exist. You can purchase testing kits online for $30 per unit, and these kits include lab fees, return shipping, consultation, sampling media, and the final results. The results from a kit are less detailed and accurate than those provided by a certified asbestos testing professional. Since collecting a sample exposes you to harmful fibers, hiring a professional is essential to ensure safety and accurate testing.

Receiving asbestos test results takes one to seven days, but different labs offer varying turnaround times. When expedited processing is arranged, the laboratory completes analysis within 24 hours; standard processing requires up to two weeks. Hiring a certified professional ensures that all samples are collected correctly and results are provided without delay, safeguarding your home throughout the process.

Home insurance doesn't often cover asbestos testing and removal. Many policies have a clause called a "pollution exclusion," which means they do not cover indoor pollutants like asbestos. However, your insurance company might cover something like asbestos siding removal costs if it is released due to things beyond your control, such as storm damage.

If a DIY project or accident in your home releases harmful fibers, you must pay for the test and removal.

Yes, you can legally inspect and remove asbestos in your house as long as it's a single-family home and not a multi-family unit. However, the EPA strongly recommends hiring an asbestos abatement pro since testing can be dangerous.

Pros have all the right tools and safety equipment, and you risk breathing in the fibers by taking samples yourself. They also know how to collect samples and safely dispose of materials properly.

Asbestos encapsulation is a process that seals asbestos-containing materials with a protective barrier to prevent the release of harmful fibers. It serves as an alternative to complete removal when full abatement is not necessary. Encapsulation costs between $2 and $6 per square foot, offering a cost-effective option that contains asbestos safely when applied by a certified professional.
