"This guy is simply awesome. He does not come with a big ego or a need to tell me how good he is. He also did not complain (thinking he might get a tip). He was, in addition, $600 less than another quote and the work was done fast and perfectly. We now have a "go to" plumber. I strongly suggest that if you need anything done in the plumbing, drain or pipe repair area - this guy is GREAT. His name is Alfanso."

"It cost me $450+tax to clear the drain, which took less than half hour. I admit it was my ignorance that I did not ask specifically how much would be involved. I assumed they would charge more or less what the other pros told me. Mistake! They could have told me though. The technician was good and courteous, and he fixed my problem."

"I used to have sporadic flooding at the front and rear of my townhouse. P&A cleared and upgraded my garage trench drain, installed a sump pump in the garage, and another sump pump at the backyard entrance. Everything looked great but the real test came when we recently had heavy rains. After a full day and a half of storms my neighbor's basement flooded but mine was bone dry. The best part is I could just relax and not worry about bailing water out of my house anymore."

"They were very professional he confirmed our appointment and our agreement. He kept me posted on arrival times traffic was horrid coming from Brooklyn to queens. I personally brought our delivered hot water tank down to the basement since home depot just left it by the door Niko called me to the basement to show me a dent after they took it out of the box but he assured me it did not effect the tank I told him it was probably getting it to the basement but I appreciate his thoroughness They drained the old installed the new wrapped up the packaging for recycling made sure I knew the settings and how to change and took the old one with them. Their work space was tight and they did not complain they were done in an hour and a half. I was so pleased I gave them a gratuity over and beyond the fee. Totally recommend them"

"Tony is great! I found him on Angi to snake the bathtub drain which has had a serious clog. He gave me the best price and came over 2 hours later. He showed up on time and went right to work. He brought the right equipment and finished the job in less than 10 minutes. He found a leak in the spout and shower head. He offered to replace them for a great price. He even ran to Home Depot to get the right pieces for the job. He took the time to look at other plumbing questions I had and he explained what I needed to know. I would definitely hire him again."

"Excellent ...perfection ...professional ...courteous ...polite ...patient efficient .... if u need a plumber these are the guys to call ...... I had a leak under my large kitchen farmhouse double sink with plumbing set up for a dishwasher a garbage disposal a spray hose and a water filter with a reserve tank ..... the leak was intermittent ...... some times a lot of water sometimes a small puddle sometimes nothing ..... I tried several times to locate the source .... I live in a co-op apt so I had friends who were handy fixing there own plumbing issues take a look at the pipes ....I had the super /maintenance-guy check it out nobody could find what was leaking ...it was time to call a plumber.... Quite frankly I was dreading this whole experience.... when would they be able to come ...how long would this take to locate the problem....would they really be able to fix it since no one could find it ..... would they have the parts .... well Leonard called, said he could come the same day at 3pm.... he came 15 minutes early ..... I showed him the sink he immediately went to work ..... Thank God Leonard was patient .... It took 60 minutes to figure out that all of my devices under the sink when used, caused different levels of pressure on the drain pipe. The spray hose caused little pressure so small puddle leak, dishwasher lots of water lots of pressure so a big leak......this caused the drain pipe joints to become loose, the seal to be broken, and the water to leak out sometimes, that was why it seemed intermittent. But the real problem was the drain pipe was severely clogged because the pipes were not at the right slant to make the water run properly down the drain using gravity .....so the water just sat there and since I use a garbage disposal u can only imagine how badly clogged it was ....Leonard said we needed to fix the slant on the pipes then fix the joints and reseal pipes. But first and most importantly it needed to be snaked. So he went to his truck come back in 5 minutes used 25 foot snake 3 times he said it was not clear I could see this myself as the water was not going down the pipes .... At this point, I figured we would have to call the co-op board to get their plumber to snake the pipes in the building to fix this issue ......all I could think was this was getting worse .....Leonard said he just needed a longer snake he called his brother who came in 5 minutes with a 50 foot snake he used the 50 foot snake twice that finally cleared it .....no more filthy water ....he adjusted the slant of pipes ...put in new pipes with new seal ...... Leonard and his brother cleaned up all the debris got equipment packed and was gone in 10 minutes ....problem solved all of this only took 2 hours ....! Sink and all devices work perfectly now.... Absolutely Incredible!!!!!!"

"The first appointment for this repair had to be rescheduled but, I was kept informed and, I understand that emergency repairs must take precedence, if it was my main drain stack that required repair I would want it done immediately too! I thought this drain repair might be easy so I thought about doing it myself. I am so happy I didn't, Frank from Sessa Plumbing did some real handcrafted quality work as only a pro can."

FAQs for drain clog or blockage clearing projects in Brooklyn, NY

Snaking a simple clog near a tub, toilet, or sink often takes about five minutes. Deeper blockages along the main line can stretch the job to a few hours because the pro must feed extra cable and may need a camera to confirm the pipe is clear. Either way, specialized tools help pros work quickly and keep your drains running for the long haul.

Aggressive snaking can scratch pipes, push debris deeper, or even crack older lines. That risk is low with an experienced plumber who matches the cable size to the pipe and eases the snake through bends instead of forcing it. If you’re unsure of your technique—or your pipes are already fragile—calling a licensed pro is the safest, and often cheapest, move.

Start with simple barriers: mesh screens on every tub, shower, and sink keep hair, food bits, and jewelry out of the pipes. Skip harsh chemicals; a monthly flush with hot (not boiling) water clears light buildup without damaging plastic lines. Finally, practice smart disposal—no grease, wipes, or kitty litter down the drain—and schedule routine cleanings if you have older plumbing.

Roto‑Rooter typically charges a flat $160 to $450 for standard snaking, which may include a quick sewer inspection and basic clean‑out. Exact pricing depends on the clog’s location and complexity. Repairs or part replacements fall outside that flat fee, so ask for a line‑item estimate if your tech spots broken pipe sections or recommends additional work.

Most liquid cleaners rely on caustic chemicals that eat through hair and grime—but they also erode metal and even some plastics over time. Repeated use strips protective pipe coatings and can leave you with leaks or premature failures. If hot water or a plunger doesn’t help, call a plumber for mechanical removal instead of pouring more chemicals down the line.
