"These are honest, hardworking and respectful folks.  They came when they said they would come and never tried to up-sell or modify previous agreements.  Their work was thoughtful and thorough; they seemed to work the job as if it were a project at their own home. They even made it a priority to sweep our driveway clean of dirt/sand each night so that we did not track it on to the work area or into our home; a small detail that was greatly appreciated!  If you're considering using these folks, give them a chance and let them bid.

"The pavestone work these guys did for us was outstanding!   The pattern on the S shaped walkway required hundreds of cuts and they all look great.  A very professional install that I continually receive compliments on how great it looks.

"ArborTrue is a wonderful company. Last year Brad Phillips inspected my old river birch. Heat stressed. I did exactly what he told me to do. Responded beautifully! This year he had to come back out. City dug a trench on the other side of the fence for a huge natural gas pipeline. It sealed its fate as it was near the end of its city life. Brad sent Fabian, Joel and Anthony out in about a week as a new fence install was about to happen! Fascinating to watch. Very professional and so careful in this dangerous job. Cleaned job site well. Avoided hurting equipment like AC’s etc. I would highly recommend this company. Exceeded my expectations and would not hesitate to recommend to my friends."

"They exceeded our highest expectations. They arrived on time and started on time. All of the workers were knowledgeable, professional, polite and courteous. They went above and beyond what the job called for. After painting the newly installed porch the gave all of the ledges and door edge a fresh coat of paint so everything looked new and matched. Their attention to detail throughout the entire project was excellent. When finished, they left the workplace clean and better than when they found it. I highly recommend this company."

"Crew was courteous, professional, knowledgeable and skilled.  Owner, Perry Price, personally gave estimate the same day I called to request it and fulfilled his promise to meet my deadline for the work.  He personally followed up numerous times to ensure the work was done to our satisfaction and kept in constant communication with us to let us know of the progress.  In spite of inclement weather challenges, they completed on time and did a fantastic job!  Mr. Price also called back days after the work was completed to follow up once again to be sure we were satisfied.  I would highly recommend New Renovations!"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Bay City, TX

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
