"This was the smartest home improvement decision that we've made! After putting up with exorbitant electric bills, particularly in summer months, we finally did something about it. Our upstairs air handling unit (attic location) had always struggled to control temperature, and at times seemed to run continuously to keep up. Those days are over. The excellent professionals at Lone Star transformed our attic into an unvented, conditioned attic using open-cell spray foam. We're expecting much lower electric bills in future months and years. The immediate differences noticed have been noteworthy. Prior to foaming, the delta between the attic and upstairs hallway was 30-35 degrees. It was unbearable in the attic. Afterwards, the delta is amazingly only a couple degrees! This makes so much sense, we truly now have one conditioned environment, any small system leakage stays within the envelope, rather than cooling the great outdoors! It is quite comfortable in the attic now, and the two air handling units there work much less hard. The upstairs unit now easily maintains upstairs temperature with normal cycling, as mentioned, this was not the case before. We have also noticed a significant improvement in the humidity throughout the house, a major bonus! The system efficiency has been greatly improved. So happy we made this decision.
