"Jeswork was really great. The construction engineer took photos of my crawlspace and explained in detail their recommendations and the cost and financing. The work team was excellent and explained what they did each day and showed pictures. They found termites and got in contact with a pest contractor before the encapsulation when my termite contractor failed to come and treat the termites. "

"I had Lux come out to do foundation work on our home, as well as exterior waterproofing. It was a large job, and as a first-time homeowner, I didn’t know what to expect. Miguel and his team were efficient and did a great job. They communicated very well, which I really appreciated, and the job was completed in about a week. They ran into a small snag during the work, but were able to locate the issue and fix it quickly. They were very flexible and understanding, even after the job when I had a few follow-up questions. I would definitely use them again!"

"Had a great experience with Chris Kuper at Basement Detective! My basement flooded from non-stop storms and I needed a sump pump installed along with complete renovation of my basement. They were very competitive in pricing and outstanding in results. Chris even helped coordinate with the contractor doing my basement renovation after the sump was installed to make sure none of the drainage was disturbed by the new work being done. I have since weathered at least 3 large storms and can hear the sump working as needed. Very happy with the results!"

"I contracted ARS Rescue Rooter about 2.5 years ago to replace my existing HVAC system with a new unit My contract clearly states that the new system would be covered for all parts and labor for 10 years a a week later it was evident the unit did not have sufficient capacity to cool my TH. countless calls over the following 5 weeks, under threat of a law suite, ARS agreed to replace the unit with a more powerful. 2 weeks later they finally sent in two techs who removed and installed a different unit that seemed to work okay. later, I detected a gas leak emanating from my attic where the HVAC is installed. After several calls they finally sent a tech who insisted to charge me for covered work under my warrantee. Eventually, ARS waved charges. now the thermostat is dead, once again ARS said they'd charge me, I asked to have a manger/owner call me and confirm the work is covered before sending a tech. once again ARS said they'll charge me This is a dishonest company with horrible service "

"AJ and his crew were wonderful to work with on this project. It took longer than expected due to some weather and unexpected issues at our property but they handled it very well and always kept us informed. Tiffany is also wonderful to work with on the business side. She is prompt and accurate. Thank you for everything!"

"They installed a Viqua B4 system in 2016 and the technician was very nice and respectful but forgot to run chlorine through the appliances' water lines so I still had coliform bacteria in my system. So they came back out again to do that (and once again sent a very nice technician) but now I learned from the manufacturer (after having a positive test for coliform bacteria) they should've run chlorine through the outside faucet attached to the house as well which could be contaminating the inside water. Also the manufacturer said it should've sat for 4 hours w/the chlorine but they only had it in there for 30 minutes. Also they sold me a 2012 model although it was 2016 which did not include an automated display of bulb life left and alarm to let me know when to change the bulb. Snider said (through the very polite receptionist since he would not call me back to answer my technical questions) if the light is on then the system is working. So according to Mr. Snider I should not have bacteria but I do. Last year I called to have another company replace the bulb because Snider charges triple the price of other plumbers. The bulb has a retail price of $100 but Snider charges $300 plus a $65 dispatch fee because I am 20 minutes away. All you have to do to replace the bulb is lift it out of the sleeve and put in a new one which is not worth $265 for 5 minutes of work (you can see a video on youtube how it is done). Even the manufacturer said that price was ridiculous. Also when I cleaned the inside of the kitchen faucet before taking the water sample recently I noticed a pink film on my cotton swab which could be a biofilm. When you have a biofilm it protects the bacteria from being killed by the chlorine, and in this case a UV light will not help. They did not check for any biofilm when they came out to install the filter. If the biofilm is the problem then I may have wasted my money on a UV light that is not really necessary and not addressing the problem. The house may have sat for a while before I purchased it since it was a rental and this is kind of environment that would cause a biofilm to form."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Bentonville, VA

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
