"I was satisfied with my consultation/inspection of my old chimney. I did not purchase a wood stove or chimney liner this year, only because I just purchased this old cabin and I am still trying to decide whether I will be able to renovate it, or if it will need to be completely torn down and rebuilt. The store does push it's own brand of wood stove; however, from all the research I have done, it appears to be a quality line. Additionally, I contacted a friend after my inspection to go over the prices quoted by Dan's for the chimney liner and wood stove. I wanted another professional's opinion...my friend was the owner of a wood stove store for many years. This friend advised that prices quoted by Dan's for the liner, wood stove and labor were very reasonable, given the quality of products. Again, I did not actually have a wood stove installed - I only paid for an inspection. But, I was satisfied with my inspection and the products offered by the store. My plan is to use Dan's when I make the decision on where and when to have a wood stove installed."

"I am  ashamed that it took me so long to write this report.  We found Jose on Angie's list, very highly recommended.  Because it was early  February and we had to have the roof replaced before we moved in, we were not sure how the job would go.  Jose came <strong><em>immediately.  </em></strong>Even before he got onto  the roof, he could see what needed to be done.  He was aware of our move-in deadline, so he drew up the contract immediately with the price.  And when he did get on the roof, he observed that we would need circulating fans in addition, to keep the roof aerated and the house mold free.  He immediately informed us that there would be a change in price and gave us another quote.  We were very impressed that he did NOT do  the "oops-add on" price, but was very up front with  us.  We agreed to the new price and contract.  He then assured us that he would finish the job in three days, guaranteed.  However, one of the days brought inclement weather, so he called immediately and told us that they could not work on that particular day, but would finish the job, no questions, as promised.  So he sent his workers on a  Sunday, no extra charge for a weekend, and they were true to his word, finished in three days! <br /> Jose also noticed that we needed a downspout and gutter on the side of the house.  He recommended someone, who also came immediately, fixed the problem in just a few hours and charged a very reasonable price. <br /> Never have I experienced such honesty, integrity and responsibility in a businessman, in addition to the highest performance level of work.    I would recommend Jose, GNS roofing to anyone who is looking for those qualities in a roofer and a person. <br /> As a closing remark, Jose, as he was leaving, noticed that the two houses on either side of us would need a roof very soon.  Sure enough, both houses, a few months later, had new roofs put on!  He knows his business!!!   Go with him!"

"<p>The firm's president, Randy Alverson, arrived promptly, assessed our damp basement situation, and explained in great detail the various steps of the waterproofing process.  He answered all of my questions and was so professional and reassuring that I broke my usual rule of getting at least 3 proposals for any home project, and decided to hire Chamberlin-Washington immediately.  Of course, I had done my homework and read the firm's excellent reviews on numerous websites including Angle's List, which added to my confidence in my choice.  </p> <p>The Chamberlin-Washington crew was terrific and worked so hard under very chilly and damp conditions. They first removed all of the plants/shrubs from our front borders, carefully wrapping the roots in order to preserve them.   An 8 + -foot trench then had to be dug along the front of our house, to the bottom of the foundation, in order to begin the waterproofing process.  They worked very carefully, addressing one half of the foundation at a time (including under our front porch, which was undisturbed). The crew realized that our home's exterior foundation was very rough and uneven, which meant that it wouldn't be a receptive surface for the waterproofing membrane.  Mr. Alverson came back to our house to explain the additional steps that were needed to smooth the foundation out before the waterproof membrane could be applied: grind down the rough foundation, install stainless steel wall ties, install wood forms and pour a 4" thick concrete layer to even up and consolidate the foundation.  He made sure that we understood what was going to happen, and explained that though this was an unusual step to have to take, they had done it before for with some older homes such as ours (built circa 1925).  This extra step of preparation added an additional 50% to the original fee, but it had to be done. Once the waterproofing layer was finally in place, they tested it by spraying water onto the foundation for an hour, with one person carefully monitoring the process inside our basement to make sure that no water was leaking through.</p> <p>Ultimately, Chamberlin-Washington was able to thoroughly waterproof the front foundation of our home, and we have had no further water problems whatsoever.  We were extremely impressed with Mr. Alverson and his crew -- very professional, punctual and thorough.  I highly recommend this firm to anyone whose home needs similar waterproofing work.  I should also add that Chamberlin-Washington honored the 10% discount for Angie's List members -- a nice touch.</p> <br />"
