"Overall, I was very satisfied. They were busy, so it took some time to schedule the work, but the issues were not urgent. I called Garafano Electric for an estimate in late December. They came out to provide an estimate within about 10 days. The work was scheduled on a date convenient for me, several weeks later. I needed them to come out for a follow-up visit on the faulty lighting circuit and they scheduled that very quickly. They were able to identify an intermittent problem with one of the circuits and came up with an effective solution. They also recommended a good wireless switch and came up with a clean way to install it without cutting into walls or the ceiling. They did the routine work - replacing outlets and switches - very efficiently. The pricing seemed very fair. I purchased the parts myself and provided them. They offered good options in a couple of situations where unexpected conditions were discovered. I would definitely recommend them and use them again."

"Impressed with Luis & team. First installed new outlets for a TV, moved an outlet, installed outdoor lights, then upgraded my electric panel. Each time great work, very reliable, and I know it’s fairly priced."

"Excellent company. I submitted a request through Angie’s list. Brian called me within 24 hours. I sent them some pictures and a description of the work to add a new dedicated circuit/outlet. and they were able to give me a quote in advance. I added two small side projects: two additional outlets. The two electricians, Guy and Aaron were on time, polite and cleaned up. Did a great job in under 2.5 hours. Will definitely use again, if needed"

"I lost power in the back half of my home, and after being given the run around by my previous electrician, I decided to search Angie's list for an alternate electrician. After a few minutes of browsing, I stumbled upon Raymond and specifically chose him because of his ridiculously high Angie's list rating. After speaking to Raymond, we made an appointment and, to my surprise, he showed up early. This was a great sign since I'm used to servicing professionals either: 1) showing up late, or 2) giving me a 4-hour window and still arriving late. So far, so good. On Raymond's first visit he did a great job assessing the problem and gave me an estimate to fix the electrical short, but he also recommended other electrical repairs that would bring my old 1955 home up to code. After reviewing his proposal, I was a bit depressed since I knew I couldn’t afford all of the repairs that I knew I needed to tackle in the near future, so I decided to give him a call to let him know. Raymond was very understanding and offered to come out to my home for a second time to hunt for the electrical short in my home. On his second visit, he arrived early (again!) and quickly found a shorted electrical outlet that was causing the power loss in the back half of my house. He quickly replaced my shorted outlet and patiently educated me on a few DIY repairs that he recommended me tackling to help safeguard the safety of my family. I was very relieved and happy to have found such an honest and proficient electrician. I highly recommend Raymond and I will definitely be reaching out to him going forward for future repairs/upgrades. Thanks again Raymond for all your help!"

"Finally an honest Solar company!! I went through several companies trying to get quotes for one of my properties, either they were ridiculously expensive or they didn't return my calls. A friend of mine referred me to Mega Sun and I have to say I am very pleased. Within a couple days from the initial phone call I already had an estimate and once i decided to go with them the installation was completed in one week. Its been a little over a month since they completed the install and everything is working smoothly. <br /> <br /> I was amazed at just how great the customer service was. I just want to say thank you to the whole team who helped out, I really appreciate all your hard work. Now I know you guys are the ones to call for all future jobs."

"they're a great company and the men that came out to work, came on time and worked hard the time they were there, and they did a great job. My only suggestion would be when you have your electrical rewired they have to put holes in your walls to allow them to put new wiring in and I mean a lot of holes everywhere! Anywhere you have a outlet, light switch, up and down your walls. If they used a round 3" or 4"drill and kept the plugs their customer would be able to repair the walls so much easier than them cutting random hole sizes and shapes in the walls. just a suggestion to make your clients love you all the more."

"First let me say I was very pleased with the tech they sent, Jeff. He came down all the way from Dana Point, and still managed to be on time! He was right on task and quick to diagnose the problem and then made the fastest trip to Home Depot in the history of contractor trips to HD. Quickly made the exchange and double checked to make sure that it was actually repaired! I think the whole thing took 1-1&1/2 hours! My tenants were very pleased! My husband could never have done it so quickly, which automatically made it worth every penny! My only regret is that I didn't make better use of the time I had left on the two hour deal... My fault for not thinking ahead. I was thrown off at first by his looking no older than about 17-18 years old.. Shame on me! He was he was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. More so than most other workers I've ever had work on our rentals! He even picked up a spare breaker, at my husbands request, which, was the only charge, beyond the initiial "big deal" cost. A not so whopping $10. Thanks Jeff! & Michael Dove Electrical!"

"<p>They arrived on time and ready to work.  Be prepared for the up-sell.  I was already interested in upgrading to LED lights however the original upsell of $85 per light was way too high.  When I told the project manager, Tom, that was too much money, he called the office and got the "authorization" to offer at $65 which I accepted.  (Note:  conversation not in English, which I personally think is rude).  4 LED recessed lights for $455 was competitive when compared to other service providers on Angie's List.  There were a total of 3 electricians who went right to work to install the lights and they were very efficient in completing the job. </p> <p>The install of the additional GFCI outlets was more problematic.  I had one existing outlet at the center of my bathroom vanity wall.  I told Tom that I wanted that outlet eliminated so that I can patch and paint over it and 2 new outlets to be added, 1 at each corner of the vanity.  Tom did not verify with me the exact location where I wanted outlets placed.  Because of this, additional holes in my drywall wall were made.  I want to note that Tom seemed upset that I did not take his advice to keep outlets where his original holes were made.  This attitude seemed to be reflected in his subsequent work as he did not use the nice rectangular cut-out used for outlets, but instead hammered opened large drywall holes from first location.  These extra holes ended up costing me an additional $50 in drywall repairs.</p> <p>Since there was no vanity light installed at this time, (in middle of remodel), Tom asked me if I wanted the lines for the vanity light "capped-off", (sorry, not sure if correct electrical term).  I said yes and told him I wanted to patch and paint over the vanity light lines.  I asked him how I could do that with the large metal plate he had just placed and he got a hammer and slammed metal plate into the drywall and said "there you go".  After the work was completed, I found out from my plaster guy that it is a violation of code to patch over "capped-off" electrical lines.  I was amazed that a licensed electrician did not know or think to tell me that. My perception was that they were more interested in the up-sell and getting out as quick as possible.</p> <p>I stopped payment on my check and requested a different electrician from Gils' Electric to come out to look at the work.  His team followed the lines and told me the lines to this outlet run with the kitchen outlets and additional work including kitchen drywall demo would need to be done at an additional charge.in order to resolve.  I chose to leave outlet as is at this time as I cannot afford the additional expense.  I did ask that they deduct from the invoice the $25 fee I incurred when I stopped check payment pending resolution.  He called office, (once again, conversation not in English), which refused.  He said if he did allow, it would come out of his paycheck, (really? come on!).  ( I paid invoice minus $25).</p> <p>What I have learned:  There are a lot of electricians out there.  If you don't like their attitude, even after buying a Great Deal, send them on their way and look for somebody else.  And make sure you write a review so you can help fellow consumers like myself!<br /> <br /></p> <br />"

FAQs for electrical switches, outlets & fixtures install or repair projects in Big Bear City, CA

To select and hire an electrician for your light switch installation, start by evaluating candidates as you would for any skilled position. Ask detailed questions, request a written quote, and verify their licensing credentials. This careful screening prevents unexpected fees and ensures every aspect of the installation, including any drywall repairs, complies with code.

A light switch can malfunction due to compromised wiring or overheating conditions. Faulty connections and excess heat diminish the switch’s performance. If you hear crackling, popping, or hissing sounds when toggling the switch, this indicates active electrical faults that pose a safety hazard and demand immediate professional inspection. Prompt attention prevents further damage and ensures reliable operation.

Installing a light switch takes 30 minutes or less, on average. The installation time depends on the switch type, with dimmer switches requiring additional time compared to standard on-off switches. While the hardware replacement might be completed in 15 minutes, it's essential to adhere to safety protocols, like turning off the circuit breaker and verifying there's no power, for a safe and code-compliant installation.
