"Doug the owner and his son Keith came to my house and discussed potential plans of a new Deck 10ft by 20ft with Gable Roof Deck Cover. I had received and reviewed three other bids for a new deck and cover. The other companies wanted to build a deck cover, not a Gable Roof for more money. I chose Decks by Schmillen as they had the most comprehensive plans, and a detailed process of payments with inspections. Initial payment and the 2nd and 3rd payments after inspections by PPRBD and the last payment (3rd) payment due after final inspection and homeowner inspection. Minor changes were made as the project was built and completed. Keith (the foreman) and his crew arrived promptly each day, and at the end of each day cleaned up the work site. Any weather concerns or delays related to the weather were always communicated by the owner or Keith. As I watched the building process, all questions asked by myself to Keith or crew members were always answered in a professionally manner. Keith and his crew worked very well as a coordinated team. The job was completed in a timely manner and at the end of the job the work site was completely clean and all trash removed. "We love our new deck built by New Creation Decks (NCD) and expect years of carefree use. If the design is straightforward, just about anyone can build a deck. Heck, even I built a deck once. Where New Creation Decks shines is when a customer's project is complex or has design challenges. Ours was such a project. We have two 4' tall retaining walls with the lower wall just a few feet from the rear of our house. One of the companies we called actually declined to submit a quote because they felt our project was too challenging. New Creation Decks was able to overcome the limitations presented by the closeness of the retaining walls and provide us with a large, welcoming deck. New Creation Decks has an architect on staff named Peter Kavanagh. He met with us, discussed our requirements and budget constraints and returned a few days later with CAD drawings of his proposed design from multiple perspectives. Peter's design mirrored the angles of our house and included extending our outdoor living space by adding an ironstone patio adjacent to the deck. Rather than conventional railings, the deck features cables and tempered glass that increase the feeling of openness. The design also features a stone wall face added to the lower retaining wall that incorporated the same stacked stone used in our family room fireplace. New Creation's carpenters executed Peter's vision. It was fun to watch the progress as the CAD drawings came to life. There were delays and issues with the subcontractors responsible for the railings and patio, but NCD promptly and effectively dealt with these issues. After the project was completed, there were a few minor issues, but these were also satisfactorily addressed. Most impressive was when, over a year after our deck was completed, we suffered wind damage to one of the tempered glass railings and NCD still stood behind their work and completed repairs at no charge. It was always a pleasure working with everyone we met from NCD. We appreciated that workers always showed up when expected and kept a clean work site."

"I was very frustrated trying to find a provider to stain a large fence.  I finally had to email Angie's and tell them I was getting no response or poor response from the companies that came up on Angie's List to stain fences.   ( Most pertained to deck building and staining.)    A representative at Angie's List told me to try under category "painting".  Thanks that I did.   I called 4 painters and 2 gave me a bid. <br /> I called John Mills and he immediately agreed to go out and look at the fence and give me a bid.   His bid was far less than the other bid. <br /> John was very responsive.  He gave me a very good bid in less than 3 days.   My tenant sent photos of the results of his cleaning and power washing.  The mold and black was gone!     He later came back to stain the fence.  The results were much better than I expected.  When I saw photos of the finished fence, I thought it looked new. <br />"
