"The project went very well - Benedict explained what he would need to do clearly before we started, was prompt on the day we scheduled the fan installation, and worked efficiently. Our radon level is now 0.3 in our basement following fan installation. Highly recommend Radon Shield!"

"Where to start? Jeff came early and was already checking out the outside of the house by the time we got there at the scheduled time. He was available on a Saturday and he made it work with ours and his schedule which was nice.
Once we got into the house he encouraged my wife and I to follow him around and listen to his sound and super experienced information and advice about every little facet of the house. He took a lot of photos and notes which we should be receiving a report from soon.
He notified us of things that might need more immediate repair and things that could be done over the course of the next few years. Jeff was a very nice, knowledgeable and friendly guy who just wants to get the job done right and is definitely on your side (the buyer).
I would highly recommend Jeff to anyone I know looking for a home inspection. Not only did his price include the home inspection but he also checked for termites and is in the process of doing the radon inspection in the basement.
Highly recommended and he'll even refer you to a good company for oil tank sweeping (who also doesn't charge an arm and a leg) if you need that as well.
Thanks Jeff!

"Fantastic to work with. I received an elevated radon level after a recent test which required mediation. RAdata were very responsive and timely. They even called several days prior to my appointment to offer a new time after a cancellation. They arrived on time, quickly diagnosed the problem, and performed the required work. The technician took the time to fully explain the system and offer suggestions after a new issue was found. I would highly recommend their services."

"Luciano's home inspection was extremely detailed. He is clearly well-researched and experienced in his area of expertise. Within hours of when the inspection was finished, Luciano emailed me a detailed report, complete with pictures of items that needed repair. This was extremely helpful to me, a single woman who has absolutely no knowledge of electric/HVAC. Now, I know what different pieces and parts are called....which is great knowledge to carry with me into homeownership.

"First he was late, approximately 15 minutes late, which was disappointing since I understand now that many inspectors arrive a little early so that they can finish looking at the perimeter of the house. He had my realtor, my husband and me waiting after we rushed from work. He was also late when picking up the radon test when my realtor was waiting for him.
Overall, Mr. Polo knows his stuff. He spoke very knowledgeably about things. He also went under the deck to do a good oil tank sweep even though he said he usually doesn't do that. So I give him credit for thoroughness in that regard. In the end, if you just want a guy who will walk through the house, point out stuff you need to pay attention to while you take notes, then he's your guy. But if you are a first-time homebuyer and need someone who will do more hand-holding, show you how to turn off the water main, and stuff like that for example, or give you a really detailed report with pictures and arrows, then Mr. Polo is not the one for you. I learned this the hard way, but due to time constraints I couldn't get the inspector I originally wanted. Mr. Polo though accommodated my schedule, but in the end his services fell short.  His report is almost incomprehensible. There are unfinished sentences and no pictures, but he does get it to you quickly.  So if time is a factor that's another reason to hire him. But like I said, if you're a new homebuyer and need the report as a reference for future fixes and are not good at jotting notes during the inspection, then I would recommend going elsewhere if possible.

"My review is a little mixed. he spent his time explaining a lot, gave great recommendations and estimates on what it would cost to renovate and such. very personable, and in his defense, he asked me if i had any questions. not afraid to get dirty and get onto the roof which was risky with the loose floorboard. also as a member of BP, i have high expectations.
things i did not like:
access to the roof was sealed, and that was it. no drone to take a look up top, no ladder to get up there. so i am paying more to get a roofer to inspect and estimate. he did attempt going through the loos floor boards, which was brave.
there was a lot of mouse poop but we didn't investigate further, just stated that there was no indication of termites. not sure what the difference would be if i opted out of the termite inspection.
the girl on the phone assumed i was lying when i said there was no basement based off zillow or google stating there was a basement, and so i'm pretty sure they priced me as if the home had a basement.
he checked the power outlets in the vacant unit, but not the other outlets in the unit with the tenant, assuming everything works?
things i did like:
he took his time explaining everything and giving the life expectancy of the appliances. even gave repair estimates
knowledgeable about the area and old buildings
found that there may be something on the ground unit as it was hollow, doubt others would have spotted that.
advised on the tank sweep, cutting the tree that was growing over the driveway, electrical box which should be re-done.
overall, the report was adequate, wished we did something about the roof, but his contract states if there is an obstruction or sealed, he won't go in there which sucks for me. swell guy, i'll try others to see how he better compares.

"A two-man team worked very efficiently to remove each vent cover and vacuum inside the vent openings throughout the townhouse. One man removed the vent covers while the other man vacuumed inside the vent openings. No problems with how they worked but I think there are other companies who perform a more thorough cleaning of ductwork using other methods. This company did a superficial cleaning and worked very quickly. In and out within an hour.

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Boonton, NJ

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
