"This company did an excellent job of removing the old stone brick wall in our family room and installing a beautiful veneer stone on the first job and on the second job we hired 7th State for the remodeling my dining room. They were efficient, fast, and professional. They are pricey, but you get what you pay for and the customer service is impeccable!!! Eddie Cox has been our rep for all our projects and now we are working on our third project with him and 7th State. Awesome Company!!!"

"The service went great. Two installers came out and completed the work in less than a day. They were very thorough and neat in their work. They had to move everything out of the garage and made sure to move everything back the way we liked. We have had no trouble at all with the system. We have been able to put it to good use and I feel like the quality of product is very durable. It brightens the garage space and makes everything so much nicer. We have not had to call in for any replacement parts. It was very easy to schedule the service, as well. I have recommended the company to others."

"Anthony was very courteous and helpful. Answered any questions that I had. Replaced my keypad and didn’t leave until I was satisfied with my repair. I would use them again and I’ve already referred them to my sister if she ever needs service to her garage."

"This is the second time we've used this company to fix things around our home that are too large and complicated for us to do ourselves but too small for huge contractors to take on. <br /> <br /> We've loved the finished work in both cases. We very much appreciate the fact that the House-to-Home Solutions workmen are able to make MacGyver-ish fixes for a home that was built in the 1930s. And we are always very happy that they never quit on a project until they've figured out something that's functional, and long-lasting, and good looking. <br /> <br /> Of course, working out those fixes takes time. And it's not cheap. But if you're willing to invest the time and money, you'll end up with a fix that's done well. <br /> <br /> Our last contract involved replacing an ancient, decaying garage window, and installing new railings for a porch and two outdoor sets of stairs. <br /> <br /> For the window, the House-to-Home crew put in framing that Daniel, the company's owner, didn't like. He had them rip it out and start over. And then, only when they had the new frame's measurements, did they order the new window. So it took some time. But the window is now perfect. <br /> <br /> The railings were even more complicated because the slope of the steps was too steep for the factory configuration of the railing parts. The House-to-Home folks had to cut into the brick in a couple of places to make it all work. Also, on two different occasions, parts were damaged when they arrived. But Daniel won't install something that's not right, so he sent the parts back. Those setbacks meant a series of delays. BUT when House-to-Home finished the work, it was perfectly done. We didn't have to call them back to tweak anything right away. And we have no complaints at all one year later?so the work is durable. <br /> <br /> We know that we'll have to have other fixes done to our home. Things break, especially in an older building. But we're confident that we can call Daniel and he'll solve everything beautifully. He always does. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />"

"The task was daunting. Restrictions are tight and permits difficult to achieve in our neighborhood. Even our meeting at Neighbours required a high level of level diplomacy from the contractor we chose. Matt Webb will have of Sycamore builders was up to the job. He is talented, insightful, resourceful and maybe most importantly here, patient. Matt navigated the minefield of DC permitting and building with aplomb. Over the course of our project, we were required to replace the sewer and gas lines to the house which required even more interaction with the bureaucrats of the city. God bless him, we always came out on top. His crew is top notch so we always knew we were in great hands. The caliber of workmanship in our home is simply beautiful and garners constant compliments. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Matt helped us avoid countless mistakes that would have brought us great regret later. The original plan from the architect had our master suite configured in and unwieldy and space wasting manner. The closets would have been tiny and the master bath would have had no natural light. Matt came to the rental where we were living and toured our current closets and bathrooms, to see what we needed. Then he deftly devised a superior plan for the new master suite. You should see it! It is truly a beautiful and tranquil refuge from the world. Just as we hoped! Kind of practical approach to conversations and planning drove all of our interaction with Matt who's clear goal was to give us the house we wanted. He never skimped or balked. He didn't nickel and dime us; he was never petty. He never rolled his eyes at my infernal indecision--ok, well he did so good naturedly, when warranted. :) He provided a wonderful advisor to me on all matters finish related and she was a godsend. From the stunning woodwork and built ins which always make new visitors swoon to the space efficient mud room whose bead board cubbies have changed my life, as a mom. . . we always ended up in the right place. Yes, we absolutely love our new house. It works perfectly for family and it makes us all very proud. Matt perfectly balanced its function and its beauty. I know we will enjoy living here for years to come <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />This experience was trying. It was longer and harder then we had hoped it would be. We were so fortunate to go through it with Matt Webb at the helm. He really became like a part of our family. We simply cannot recommend Matt and his team highly enough."

FAQs for garage building service projects in Brandywine, MD

A well‑constructed, properly permitted detached garage adds between $12,000 and $36,000 to a home’s resale value. Buyers appreciate the secure parking, extra storage, and flexible workspace, so appraisers often bump the property’s value accordingly. The exact return depends on the garage’s size, finishes, and how well it matches the main house, but most homeowners see a strong ROI when the build meets local codes and passes inspection.

Yes—once it meets local building codes and you secure the proper permits, a detached garage can be converted into living space. Finishing the interior, adding climate control, and ensuring safe egress effectively increase your usable square footage, though it may not always count toward the official listing. Skipping permits can trigger fines and even force you to undo the work, so always clear plans with your city first.

Most homeowners policies cover a detached garage under the “other structures” provision, but coverage limits vary. Review your declarations page and ask your agent how much protection you have for separate structures. If the limit is lower than the garage’s replacement cost, you can raise it for a modest premium. Confirming the details now prevents headaches if you ever need to file a claim.
