"I recently had 1st Security install a system in my new house and so far have been very pleased with all aspects of the system, from the initial estimate to the installation to the functioning of the system itself. Jeremy did our initial estimate and provided us with a thorough explanation of the system. I already had done a significant amount of research comparing Alarm.com to ADT and some of the self-install options, but Jeremy was able to provide even more information and help me to understand better the pros and cons of each approach. Larry did our installation and also was very friendly and knowledgeable, explaining each step of the installation process and providing me with a tutorial at the end. My wife and I have had no issues with the system so far. It is very intuitive, and we have been able to customize it to fit our unique needs. I highly recommend considering 1st Security for anyone looking at installing, switching, or upgrading their security system."

"The installation was efficient and satisfactory; however, I would have appreciated it if the sales rep, when meeting with me at my home and going over the options, would have pointed out that the color of the window frame would not match the color of surrounding wood."

"They installed some mirrors in my home and it was amazing. They were fast, efficient and polite. They explained the process step-by-step and showed me the material they were using before hand. They scheduled their appointment promptly after calling and arrived 15 minutes before arriving. The quote was free."

"Niko and Walt did an excellent and professional job of tearing out and installing a new backsplash in our kitchen and tile floor in our laundry room. The work was done promptly, clean and at a reasonable price. Will definitely use them again in the future if needed."

"This is a good organization that is conscientious about their work.  I pre-ordered a new chimney cap and they scheduled the install.  Because of bad weather, they had to reschedule and they came when they said they would.
Upon inspecting the cap, they found it to be acceptable and not in need of replacement.  They did find another problem however, and were able to provide me with good pricing on a stainless steel part, which needed to be fabricated.  Once the fabricated part was ready for installation, they scheduled a time to do the work and arrived when they said they would.  During installation, they determined that the fabricated part had not been properly measured and would need to be modified.  They explained the problem and modified the part at no additional cost to me.
After the modification, they scheduled the install and performed the work as planned.  I was told that they would have to return to perform some additional sealing of the part with a special sealant, which they did not have with them at the time.  The company's planner said that they would manage this and that I did not need to be present when this work was done.  Although I never heard back from them as to whether they performed the final sealing or not, the part appears to be working fine and I have not experienced any leaking into the house from the chimney area.
My only criticism would be that they should have followed-up with a call or email indicating that the additional sealing work had been completed.

"Hunt General Contracting is very responsive, professional, and communicative. They took care to minimize dust and dings while installing new walls and floors. The old plaster walls and popcorn ceiling looks brand new with their excellent skimming job. The floors were installed without complications. I will be using these guys again in the future for general contracting work.

FAQs for storm door installation projects in Bridgeton, NJ

For mobile homes, look for a lightweight storm door designed specifically for manufactured housing. A slimmer frame eases installation and reduces added stress on the doorway, while removable glass or screen panels allow you to switch between airflow and complete protection in minutes. The result is solid weather defense without unnecessary weight and a door that remains easy to operate season after season.

A well-installed and well-maintained storm door can add modest value by improving curb appeal, increasing security, and reducing energy loss. If the door is faded, dented, or hanging loosely, those benefits disappear—and may even harm first impressions. Professional installation ensures the door seal is correctly aligned and keeps the hardware in place, allowing the upgrade to deliver both visual and practical benefits that buyers notice.

Most storm doors last 25 years, and high-end models, when properly cared for, can reach 50 years. Lifespan depends on the frame material, glass quality, and the amount of punishment the door receives from wind, rain, or sun. Regular cleaning, fresh weatherstripping, and prompt repairs keep hinges tight and glass secure, helping the door reach its maximum lifespan.

Allow three to five hours to set a standard pre-hung storm door if the opening is in good condition. If you need to widen the frame or repair wood rot, expect the job to take a whole day to complete. A seasoned installer can complete the job faster and ensure the door sits square, seals tightly, and operates smoothly, saving time that often outweighs the DIY time commitment.

Most single exterior doorways can accommodate a storm door, provided the frame dimensions match those of the new unit. Patio and sliding glass doors are the main exceptions because their tracks won’t support the extra door. If you’re unsure about clearances or hinge placement, consider bringing in a door installer to measure the opening and recommend any necessary adjustments for a secure fit.
