"We used The Construction Company to renovate the main living space in our home. They removed a load-bearing wall between our office and family room, replaced the flooring, added a new window and constructed built-in storage tailored to the space. They did all of the painting, trim and electrical work (adding recessed lighting and even mounting our TV/components). John was able to provide suggestions we hadn't thought of to use the space more efficiently, such as reducing an opening to the room, adding a barn door that would maximize the available space for furniture, and constructing a built-in desk area in an otherwise awkward space that was created by our powder room. We couldn't be happier with the result! Not only did the end product exceed our expectations, but John was extremely professional. Our initial estimate was submitted quickly, the contract was detailed, and they began work on our project in a timely manner. Once work commenced, there were no breaks in the project until it was complete. The only time the cost exceeded the estimate was when we wanted to add to the scope. They were reliable and respectful of our house, taking steps to contain the mess to the extent possible. John always remained flexible and collaborative as the project progressed. "This was my third time working with this contractor and each project was a pleasurable experience! As was the case with the other two, they started this project on time and finished on time! All the work was done according to strict Mount Lebanon code. They made suggestions based upon their experience i.e we wanted a six foot high shadow box fence but while Mount Lebanon code allows for a six foot high privacy fence of just about any style, they do not allow, by code, a six foot high shadowbox fence. Steve Hilpert proceeded to build us a 4 foot high shadowbox fence (the maximum height allowed by code) with a custom built 2 foot high trellis section which Mount Lebanon subsequently approved. The fence looks beautiful!
I was nervous about cutting a big hole in the wall of our addition to install the sliding glass door. Now the door looks like it has been there all along! It came out PERFECTLY!
The deck is also beautiful and solid as a rock! We had an issue with the location of our two central air conditioning units off the back of the house. The other contractors (which I found here on Angie's List as well) said they would just build over these units. Not knowing anything about central air conditioning this seemed reasonable to me. Steve was the ONLY contractor who told me that you absolutely CAN NOT block the air flow above the units! Not only that, he was honest enough to tell me that moving the units should be done by a qualified HVAC contractor. Now that is a contractor you can trust!
All work was completed on time and within budget. The same crew arrived early each day and were polite and professional. The job site was spotless at the end of each day!

"I originally found Mark on Angie's List, with all the great reviews, I had to check him out.  I am a first time home  buyer and Mark helped me with weighing my options with FHA or Conventional.  We ended up going conventional with 5% down, which saved us a lot of money.

"The entire project went way better than expected. From the initial designs, which changed multiple times, to the final measurements and installation. The designer, Terra, was very responsive, and pointed out what would and would not work which made the process much easier for us. The owner of the company personally did our final measurements and made some minor tweaks to the design that we would have missed. The 3D designs they gave us we're amazingly realistic, and made us comfortable with the layout. Every appointment we had with them from design, to measure, to install, and the process of granite selection, measurements and installation we're exactly on time and professional. Terra even came to our house personally on install day to make sure there was no confusion on the layout. We had a minor issue with adjustment of a couple of doors, and Terra had someone here 2 days later to make the minor adjustment. Couldn't be happier with the way it went. I met them at the Home Show in the spring and knew they were the right fit for us. The cabinets we selected are super high quality, and much more reasonably priced than I expected. There were NO surprises. I would definitely hire them again or refer them to a friend or family member."

"Home Crafters completed a big project at my house in March 2012. We had a 10 foot section of a load bearing wall removed between the living room and dining room. The price quoted was very fair and competitive with the other bids I had received ($2800 for everything). They also agreed to center the opening along the wall, rather than starting at the one wall and opening up a 10 foot section that would be skewed toward one side (something that other contractors said was the only possible solution). Once the team had started, they realized that the return vents were not in the usual place, and they would need to expand the construction project to re-run the vent work. This was an additional cost to us, but Home Crafters agreed to complete that project at cost.  
I could not be happier with their work. The team was very professional and accommodating, the wall looks perfect, and I don?t have anything negative to say about Jim or his team. Even though we ran into delays, everything was completed very professionally and with great attention to detail. They even moved two outlets from the now open section of the wall to the remaining segments. I would highly recommend this group for any home construction projects. We plan to remodel our master bathroom in another year or two, and Home Crafters will definitely be our first call."

"I can't praise the workers highly enough. Everything was professionally done. The entire area was cleaned at the end of each day. They made every effort to minimize disruption to my use of the spaces. One day there was a wind storm and a piece of fascia on my neighbor's house came loose and was flapping against the house. The neighbors were out of town. Bob Marburger, the manager on the project was able to pull the fascia down. He did it without any consideration of how he might get paid for his time. In fact, when my neighbor asked him how much he was charging for the fix; Bob told him to forget it. That is an excellent example of the type of person Rick Horn hires. On more than one occasion, they took my garbage to the curb or did other things that helped me out but were unrelated to their project. I have already hired them for another project. Their prices are fair--not the lowest or the highest; but the quality you will get for that fair price is excellent. Rick Horn Construction gets my highest recommendation with no reservation."
