"Fast response to inquiry. Flat rate fee and was able to schedule the work within 7-10 days. The installer was on time, finished on time and was very professional. Site was left clean and tidy. Retesting after 5 days had reduced the radon to below 2. The install worked great and as they warranted it would."

"We discovered that we had a radon reading of 11.4 ppm with an acceptable level of only 4.0 ppm. I joined Angie's List to find a qualified company in my area to learn what could be done. I chose A and R Environmental with a A rating based on several positive reviews. I called Aand R and spoke to a very knowledgeable young lady about where radon comes from, it's cancer effect on health issues and how to get rid of it. She explained in detail the mitigation process, the system itself and the cost of installation. That was on a Tuesday. An appointment was made for the following Thursday at 1:00 pm. The crew showed up on time and we decided on a location in the house to put the equipment. It took only three and a half hours start to finish. The system was installed, the house was cleaned of any debris and I was given a thorough explanation of the system and what to monitor. I can't say enough for Angie's List and the great people at A and R Environmental for their professionalism."

"The two techs were very professional and courteous. They installed a high performance radon fan and 3" pvc pipe with two different points of extraction in my basement. They had to work partially in a crawl space which made the install more difficult. They cleaned up all debris and left the work areas immaculate."

"Chris was amazing. I highly recommend Chris and A Quality Home Inspection Inc. He came to inspect the home we wished to purchase on very short notice. He arrived early to get the lay of the land. He inspected the exterior of the house, and the interior basement to attic taking pictures of everything along the way. He emailed us a very detailed inspection report which covered everything. I also felt his charge was extremely reasonable for such high level service. For a nominal fee, he also went back to pick up the radon canisters and mailed them to the lab for me. Chris looks out for the buyer, and nobody else. He was in our corner."

"Very well. Punctual and thorough. Tom invited me to follow him and ask questions as he worked. Very friendly and thoughtful in answering questions. Encouraged reaching out with any follow up questions. Agreed to have radon test in addition to home inspection."

"He was very professional from the get go and responded to email and phone calls promptly. On the day of the inspection he was there before the time he had specified and had already started with his outside inspection. He seemed very thorough in his job. Since the home was relatively new construction (2007) there were not many issues sighted. It gave us the peace of mind to go through with the purchase and now about a year after that everything is going strong in the house. <br /> I would definitely recommend him to anyone. <br />"

"I have been to a few inspections myself so I know how most inspectors work. However, Tracey really opened my eyes. She's very thorough, organized and detailed. And she explains everything to us very clearly and patiently. Her report is also very professional and organized and has lots of pictures so we have a visual of each section that have been inspected on. We are very impressed with Tracey. I would recommend Tracey for anyone who has the inspection needs. - Jill Weng"

"David was excellent. He was responsive and helpful. He was extremely thorough during the inspection and the information he provided allowed us to negotiate with the seller. We had our report later the same day. The radon test results (an extra cost) took a few additional days to get from the lab. When I got to the house for the inspection (early) I found that David was already there and inspecting the exterior. I cannot recommend David highly enough!"

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Brockton, MA

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
