"Great! They were unable to get all the way to the street from the catch basin. It was suggested I add a sewer clean out assure all the roots were gone and make it easier for future cleaning. This was suggested in the past, by another company , but the cost was out of sight. This company was very fair in price for both the cleaning (which included the inspection with the camera) and for the clean out installation."

"Roger was very helpful in helping us further the designs that we already had in mind. After signing the contract they started work 3 weeks later. It took 6 days for work to be completed. His crew was very hard working, always cleaned everything up and was always courteous. Roger came by everyday to see how things were progressing and to answer any questions that we had. Plans had to be changed due to something beyond their control and Roger made a suggestion to add a sitting wall to our fire pit, which we are very happy with and added to the beauty of the fire pit and our backyard. We have had so many compliments on our yard from neighbors and people just passing by. Our yard has definite curb appeal and we owe Brick Creations all the credit. We would recommend this company to anyone and have made several referrals to people impressed with our yard. We plan on having them come back every year to do maintenance on the edging and mulch and every 3 years to maintain our paver sidewalk and patio with sand."

"I had purchase the $1399 Deal to have paver stone patio installed in the back yard. Working with Maria, I decided to expand from 10x20 space to cover the entire width of my garage.  The additional price quoted was fair.  Because I purchased the service in October 2013, the weather was changing and the window of opportunity to install was small. Nevertheless, Maria and her crew were able to install the patio within 3 days (1 day had rain).
The crew arrived promptly,  were courteous and were professional.  Maria remained on site supervising the work. I am please with the patio and plan to use the company for future landscaping project.

"Luis of Designer's Concrete set up an appointment to make an estimate, and arrived at the appointed time. I had already had the utilities located. We talked it over, and he explained to me what was necessary, and the reasons for the cost estimate of $1000. He said he would take care of getting the city permit for the project, and he stayed in contact with me throughout this part of the process. He knew exactly what the city needed from me. Once the permit was given, Luis arrived with his crew, and laid in the form. The city had to inspect the form and foundation for the pad, but once they had, the crew returned the next day and finished the job. The longest part was waiting for the city permit (about a week). When that went through, it was only three days until it was finished. Luis told me how to cure the cement before I drilled into it to install the shed. Luis accepted the Angie's List coupon. He followed up with a call a few days after it was complete. They did not mix the cement on my property, but had it delivered. Personally, it seemed more expensive than I thought it would be, but that was probably just my ignorance going into such things. Overall, it was a great experience working with Luis and Designers Concrete."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Brookfield, IL

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
