"Kevin did an outstanding job of evaluating my basement project, making suggestions, and overseeing the 2 different crews that did the job. Both of the crews did a great job protecting the areas from getting any damage. We had closed cell foam sprayed on all the exterior walls and the sills, including underneath the 3 bay windows, The second crew sprayed a layer of cellulose that makes for a quiet wall all the way to the edge of each stud. They cleaned up after the job before they left."

"I hired Corona Insulation to remove old insulation and straw from underneath a crawlspace of an addition to our home. We bought our home 3 years ago, and one of the prior owners apparently thought it was a good idea to have layers of straw (think "bales of hay", as there was a crazy amount of it) on the floor of this crawlspace area. All it did was invite mice and probably other rodents to live there, and eventually find their way into our house (which mice have). So, as you can see, we needed this cleaned out and redone properly. Ricardo from Corona Insulation was my main contact from the beginning after going through HomeAdvisor - he then came out to do give a free estimate, and then once hired, he was also the person who handled the job on his own. Not an easy task! There was a super large amount of straw that he removed along with the old insulation - as well as some not-used/not-connected electrical outlets, a couple poles, broken pieces of wood, etc...in short, he cleaned everything out of the crawlspace that the prior owners had left there. There were 2 vents that prior owners had set up to carry heat/central air to the addition above. I say "set up", but one of the vents wasn't even connected, and the other was half-way laying on the ground, covered with the straw. Ricardo informed me that they were both filled with all sorts of debris - the straw, dirt, etc. - and, they were also cut up (probably chewed by mice, I'm guessing). So, he also offered to replace the vents and hook them up properly, which I agreed to. Along with replacing the insulation above (under the floor of the addition) with good thick layer of spray insulation, there were also 2 problem areas on the old "wall" of the house (where it used to end before prior owners put up this addition). One was a window that was since broken and not sealed - making it easy for the above-mentioned rodents to find a way into the walls of our home. And then there was another spot/opening along that wall that also wasn't covered. Ricardo suggested putting up some 1/4 inch mesh, and said he could install it for us. My wife was running errands at the time, so she picked some up for him to install for us at no additional cost, to seal up the 2 problem areas. He then used the spray insulation to seal things up further. Ricardo explained everything he was doing along the way, and did everything I wanted him to do. When he hauled the "bales of hay" away and all of the other debris, there was still a lot of clean-up to do on our driveway adjacent to the crawlspace opening...but, Ricardo also swept up everything in sight. Honestly, it doesn't even look like he was there, everything was so clean on our driveway. Corona Insulation did an awesome job, and I'd highly recommend them for your insulation needs."

"Robert was very helpful and patient during our consultation and was willing to take the time to understand our somewhat-complicated split-level house to make sure he was recommending the right work to be done. We ended up going with closed-cell foam under the floor in the crawl-space of a bump-out room, on the rim joists in the basement, and in the lower 2 feet where a foundation wall had been left un-insulated above the frost line. As an extra bonus, ARC Insulation was also willing/able to coordinate with the general contractor for a bathroom remodel we were doing around the same time, and foamed the exterior wall of the bathroom while the wall was open for the remodel. Also, I would say a sign of a good company is how they handle unexpected set-backs. In our case, when the foam truck arrived at the agreed-to time, unfortunately the foam machine had stopped working, and the workers were unable to start the job (truck needed to be brought in for repairs). Craig was extremely helpful to keep our project (and the bathroom remodel) on track and was able to get another truck to come out the following morning. The following morning, the workers arrived on time, did a reasonable job at protecting areas not being sprayed (all I noticed was some red spots on the carpet from when they snapped a chalk line and some overspray on the wall that would need re-painting anyways), and cleaned up after themselves when done. Shortly after they finished, there was a chemical-like smell for a few hours, which I was able to get rid of by running fans in the windows for a while. After 24 hours, there was no detectable smell. Finally, ARC Insulation was quite understanding / helpful when the general contractor for my bathroom remodel complained that the foam stuck out past the furring strips on the wall, preventing them from installing cement board for the shower. That same afternoon, two workers came to trim down the excess foam, and the shower-work was able to proceed the following day."

"I am very happy with the work done by Green Attic Insulation. David and Charlie were very friendly, professional, responsive, and flexible in working with my changing needs. I originally was looking into insulation but then discovered there was mold in my attic. As the job grew, David, Charlie, and their team worked with me to address the additional parts of the job. I really appreciate their knowledge and the thorough job they did. They took many pictures of their progress and kept me informed each step of the way. Thank you very much!"

"Very accommodating company. Responded to all my questions and concerns, treated my home with the utmost respect and left it clean. The room was a bedroom carpeted by prior owners. When I removed the carpet, it uncovered a nightmare. The room used to be part of the garage. The previous owners left the oil spills. dirt, and cracks and just covered it with carpet. Soooooo disgusting. Perma seal ground out the cracks, pumped poly foam underneath for support, sealed the cracks, ground them to level them, and it even looks like they tried to clean up the disgusting oil spills left by previous owners. (I'll be doing additional scrubbing). I will wait for spring thaw to assess its waterproofness before I order my new floor. See before and after shots."

"Gilbert returned my call within 30 minutes of the Home Advisor request. He arrived at my home within 2 hours and explained the process of insulating my garage ceiling. Gilberto gave me a fair quote and we scheduled the job for 4 days later. He arrived with his crew on time and finished the insulating within 2 hours. The crew broom swept the garage floor & placed our objects back in their original location. The entire crew was polite, knowledgeable and respectful of my property. Since the insulation was installed, our garage is a very comfortable temperature. Gilbertâ s recommendation for the proper type insulation was absolutely correct. He knows his trade! I would highly recommend Insu Tech to family and friends."

"Nick and his crew were so informative and pleasant to do business with. We had attics insulated, new vents installed, and outside blown-in cellulose, and they worked long hours to make sure everything was done correctly. I would definitely recommend this business. A great surprise was how the insulation muffled loud outside noises (fireworks and loud vehicles)."

FAQs for spray foam insulation projects in Brookfield, IL

Local and federal rebates are available for insulation installation, which can significantly reduce your overall costs. Many utility companies offer incentives or rebates to homeowners who improve their home's energy efficiency. Contact your local energy provider or government agencies to learn about available programs in your area, and consult with a professional insulation installer to maximize your savings.

It's not necessary to remove old insulation before adding new insulation, as long as the existing insulation is in good condition—dry, free of mold, and not damaged. Adding new insulation on top of old insulation can improve your home's energy efficiency by increasing the overall R-value. However, if the old insulation is wet, moldy, or damaged, it's best to remove it before installing new insulation to prevent potential health risks and ensure optimal performance.

Insulating a house takes between five and twelve hours for batts or boards, and two to five hours for spray foam or blown-in insulation. The exact time depends on the size of your home, the type of insulation, and the accessibility of the areas being insulated. Keep in mind that projects may take longer if old insulation needs removal, if there's a larger square footage, or if spaces are difficult to reach.
