"I could not recommend a better company for asbestos removal. We bought a new house and found asbestos under all the old flooring, everything had to go. Steve was very friendly and came all the way out to our area to take a look and give us a proposal quickly. Pricing was good. The work was easily scheduled and very well done. They took the proper safety steps and even had a third party come do air samples to make sure no asbestos was in the air. We even called them back for another job a few weeks later. They were just as prompt, friendly, and thorough as the first time. Don't bother looking for other companies, go with this one and save yourself the time."

"We wanted to get a mold testing done on our first home purchase and were very nervous because there was a basement settlement crack and some moisture had come in. <br /> Pete was very knowledgeable and courteous. He completed the Mold inspection in 30 minutes, but stayed back to go over other concerns that I had regarding the house. <br /> He explained to me in detail why he thought that the repair work was done properly and actually was able to identify the source of the water that had come in. (Other contractors and inspectors had not been able to give the seller this information) <br /> I was also planning to have the stucco inspection done by Pete. Pete completed the mold testing and did a visual inspection of the stucco. He assured me that the builder had put every safety measure during construction of the house and that he could say with very high probability that there would be no issues with the stucco. <br /> <br /> I really appreciate the fact that he did not want me to waste money by getting a thorough inspection.( money that he would have made!!). <br /> <br /> I am very happy and satisfied by his work and would advise anyone who is having a mold inspection or a stucco inspection done, go through Real Estate Inspections."

"Very affordable and thorough test results. I really appreciated that the Moldlab not only provided us with what kind of mold they found but what the affects are on people/pets and then how to get rid of the mold! Our kit was mailed on the same day we ordered it and Charlie was quick?to resend my email results when I accidentally deleted them in my spam folder.?"

"Very well Had a number of estimates but choose Hometown because Michael Curran gave the most through inspection and best explanation along with a detailed, point for point written estimate. In addition Michael worked with my time table and that of the plumbing company that was to do HVAC work when asbestos was removed After work was finished Micheal provided me with a third party independent lab air quality test results that showed that no asbestos was to be found in air samples taken in my house."

"I have used a couple of home inspectors in the past decades, but nothing compares to the thorough, professional and complete inspection that was provided. <br /> John showed up early and was doing and exterior inspection of the house taking photographs. Importantly, use inspecting the property while the ground was frozen and ice and snow were evident around the house.  <br /> He inspected the exterior condition of the house, and also discovered underfloor soffits (the property used to have Bay Windows) were not sealed. He noted the direction and depth of ponding water in the back of the house, and made a suggestion that this would be ongoing and a swale might have to be installed. With the snow and falling that subsequently followed, this prediction and observation turned out to be 100% true.  he also observed roof shingles that had peeled back in the direction of the prevailing wind, and recommended that this be fixed. <br /> Mr. Muffi also noted that the porch railings were loose and suggested that they were a safety hazard and ought to be prepared and tightened. Upon entering the house, basic and small issues such as loose towel racks etc. were quickly noted. In the kitchen, he also inspected each appliance and tested operation of each appliance. He opened every faucet and sink tap and check the hot water. <br /> Because we had been provided before and after pictures of the renovation by the builder, John was able to see that behind the drywall all the insulation had been done. Before we saw the photographs, he was clear that we wouldn't know about the insulation and how good it was until a snowstorm. <br /> In the basement, he noted that the walls were sound as far as cracks etc., noted some missing parts on the main electric box, and also noted previous work on the joists on the floor and recommended a formal in query to the builder as to why the joist had been replaced. <br /> In my mind's eye, by using JM Property Inspections, we went into purchasing this house knowing all the facts ahead of time, and making sure the problems were remedied. I was particularly impressed that with out seeing water come into the house, he predicted that it might happen ? which it did ? two weeks later. <br /> I have never seen a home inspection performed by somebody as professional and thorough as Mr. Muffi. the big picture and the smallest details were not neglected. I have already recommended him to somebody else that I know is looking for a home inspector. <br /> I cannot recommend him enough. Thank you John! <br />"

FAQs for asbestos testing projects in Brookhaven, PA

Asbestos appears as long, thin, or curled mineral fibers that are not visible to the naked eye under normal conditions. Homes constructed before 1989 are more likely to contain this material, so a professional inspection is essential. Because asbestos identification requires specialized techniques, having a certified inspector assess your property is the safest way to confirm its presence and protect your family’s health.

Free asbestos testing services do not exist. You can purchase testing kits online for $30 per unit, and these kits include lab fees, return shipping, consultation, sampling media, and the final results. The results from a kit are less detailed and accurate than those provided by a certified asbestos testing professional. Since collecting a sample exposes you to harmful fibers, hiring a professional is essential to ensure safety and accurate testing.

Receiving asbestos test results takes one to seven days, but different labs offer varying turnaround times. When expedited processing is arranged, the laboratory completes analysis within 24 hours; standard processing requires up to two weeks. Hiring a certified professional ensures that all samples are collected correctly and results are provided without delay, safeguarding your home throughout the process.

Home insurance doesn't often cover asbestos testing and removal. Many policies have a clause called a "pollution exclusion," which means they do not cover indoor pollutants like asbestos. However, your insurance company might cover something like asbestos siding removal costs if it is released due to things beyond your control, such as storm damage.

If a DIY project or accident in your home releases harmful fibers, you must pay for the test and removal.

Yes, you can legally inspect and remove asbestos in your house as long as it's a single-family home and not a multi-family unit. However, the EPA strongly recommends hiring an asbestos abatement pro since testing can be dangerous.

Pros have all the right tools and safety equipment, and you risk breathing in the fibers by taking samples yourself. They also know how to collect samples and safely dispose of materials properly.

Asbestos encapsulation is a process that seals asbestos-containing materials with a protective barrier to prevent the release of harmful fibers. It serves as an alternative to complete removal when full abatement is not necessary. Encapsulation costs between $2 and $6 per square foot, offering a cost-effective option that contains asbestos safely when applied by a certified professional.
