"Hired for asbestos testing. Jason Dua explained everything thoroughly on the phone and even managed to save me about 30% off the initial quoted price by eliminating unnecessary tests. The technician, Manny was very personable as is Jason. Manny actually showed up early for the appointment. Definitely recommend Atlas."

"We wanted to get a mold testing done on our first home purchase and were very nervous because there was a basement settlement crack and some moisture had come in. <br /> Pete was very knowledgeable and courteous. He completed the Mold inspection in 30 minutes, but stayed back to go over other concerns that I had regarding the house. <br /> He explained to me in detail why he thought that the repair work was done properly and actually was able to identify the source of the water that had come in. (Other contractors and inspectors had not been able to give the seller this information) <br /> I was also planning to have the stucco inspection done by Pete. Pete completed the mold testing and did a visual inspection of the stucco. He assured me that the builder had put every safety measure during construction of the house and that he could say with very high probability that there would be no issues with the stucco. <br /> <br /> I really appreciate the fact that he did not want me to waste money by getting a thorough inspection.( money that he would have made!!). <br /> <br /> I am very happy and satisfied by his work and would advise anyone who is having a mold inspection or a stucco inspection done, go through Real Estate Inspections."

"I received the testing kit in just a few short business days with all of the necessary items to perform a quick test on the mold I had present in my home. I followed the easy directions and sent the tests back in. I got the results within 5 business days or so and they were very detailed. It was helpful to learn exactly what type of mold I was dealing with and at a low cost. Much cheaper and faster than what a lot of the local companies wanted to charge me! ($450) <br />"

"The first time Michael came to the house, he looked at all of the areas we plan to remodel (3 bathrooms) and gave us his opinion on what materials could potentially contain asbestos.  He also volunteered to check out the basement as well.  In the basement, he identified old tiles and glue that could have asbestos, however we decided not to have them tested as we do not plan to disturb them at this point.  He also mentioned that there could be old asbestos insulation behind a vent we plan to move in the master bath, as well as possible asbestos containing tile under our current bathroom tile (the floor is raised, so it appears a new tile floor was put over the old one).  As we are now getting ready to demo that bathroom, we asked him to come back out to take samples.  When he opened the vent, he could see no insulation.  He broke up a bit of the tile as well, but only found a thicker concrete wet bed underneath, no old tile floor.  It was a relief to us!  Therefore, there were no samples taken.  Michael did all of this work free of charge.  I definitely plan to contact him again in the future if we have any other asbestos related concerns. <br />"

FAQs for asbestos testing projects in Brookhaven, PA

Asbestos appears as long, thin, or curled mineral fibers that are not visible to the naked eye under normal conditions. Homes constructed before 1989 are more likely to contain this material, so a professional inspection is essential. Because asbestos identification requires specialized techniques, having a certified inspector assess your property is the safest way to confirm its presence and protect your family’s health.

Free asbestos testing services do not exist. You can purchase testing kits online for $30 per unit, and these kits include lab fees, return shipping, consultation, sampling media, and the final results. The results from a kit are less detailed and accurate than those provided by a certified asbestos testing professional. Since collecting a sample exposes you to harmful fibers, hiring a professional is essential to ensure safety and accurate testing.

Receiving asbestos test results takes one to seven days, but different labs offer varying turnaround times. When expedited processing is arranged, the laboratory completes analysis within 24 hours; standard processing requires up to two weeks. Hiring a certified professional ensures that all samples are collected correctly and results are provided without delay, safeguarding your home throughout the process.

Home insurance doesn't often cover asbestos testing and removal. Many policies have a clause called a "pollution exclusion," which means they do not cover indoor pollutants like asbestos. However, your insurance company might cover something like asbestos siding removal costs if it is released due to things beyond your control, such as storm damage.

If a DIY project or accident in your home releases harmful fibers, you must pay for the test and removal.

Yes, you can legally inspect and remove asbestos in your house as long as it's a single-family home and not a multi-family unit. However, the EPA strongly recommends hiring an asbestos abatement pro since testing can be dangerous.

Pros have all the right tools and safety equipment, and you risk breathing in the fibers by taking samples yourself. They also know how to collect samples and safely dispose of materials properly.

Asbestos encapsulation is a process that seals asbestos-containing materials with a protective barrier to prevent the release of harmful fibers. It serves as an alternative to complete removal when full abatement is not necessary. Encapsulation costs between $2 and $6 per square foot, offering a cost-effective option that contains asbestos safely when applied by a certified professional.
