"Reliability distinguishes the best contractors from the rest. This was never in doubt with Jay in spite of two unavoidable issues that arose prior to installation. Both were handled perfectly with excellent communication. I don’t know what is typical but the sod from Jay’s supplier seems very clean to me. A month after installation I’ve seen only 3 or 4 small weed sprouts from 6,000 sq. ft. of sod. Owing to outstanding site preparation there’s also been almost no breakthrough of preexisting weeds."

"Seabreeze did an amazing job clearing my backyard property of dead limbs, leaves, roots, and then planting a LOT of St. Augustine sod, after they fixed my sprinkler system. They also planted very nice plants along the perimeter of the house and mulched with pine bark. I liked the job performed so much that I continued to hire them for other areas of the property to include clearing my front yard and dead tree removal. Additionally, they expertly installed pavers by both backdoor and front door, which looks awesome! I am well-pleased with their professionalism, knowledge, and courtesy, Pricing seemed fair. I would highly recommend. I am not listing the pricing because not all jobs are the same, and it would not be fair to them to show you what I paid, however, I will reiterate, I thought it to be fair. In summary, they transformed my yard from something of an eyesore to a beautiful paradise."

"Eveready does all my hauling for construction debris. They do a great job and are very dependable and will work with you on cost if you need them for more than a single job. They have dump trailer drop-off but also have a crew that can help you out with labor if you need help loading or with demolition, etc,. They also do garage/house cleanouts and various other chores."

"Overall, I am very pleased with the work that DC Lawn Service provided.  They were punctual and upfront about the amount and cost of mulch that I would need. They covered the beds adequately.   I have a large yard with large flowerbeds.  They left the work areas clean and I was impressed with that.  The only thing that I will ask them to do next time is to lay down some weed killer pellets before they install the new mulch.  Perhaps that will slow the regrowth of the weeds which was almost instantaneous after the mulch was installed.

"When I called Albert, he was good at answering my questions and I had lots of them. The quotes prices were a bit too good to be true but he delivered the job within $10 of the quote over the phone. My pavers near the pool were looking really rough. I honestly didn't remember what they were supposed to look like but when he was done, I swear I don't remember them ever looking that good. The new look is something I can get used to so I think I'll have them come back every 6 months or so. I can definitely recommend them."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Brooksville, FL

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
