"I used to be a travel agent, for many years, and one of my clients were Quality Heating & Air Conditioning. So over the years, like 40 years, I eventually called my former travel agent's line back that sells in Quality Heating & Air Conditioning. And said  I need a wall furnace. You need to help with my down stairs wall furnace, it's not working. So he came out, he came out and walked. He came outside, it was many hours, many days off of work, many dollars, he got my new wall furnace that, like it is like really ugly, not at all what I expected. And his guy like charged me like $400.00 for trying to fix the gas problem existing. And it didn't happen, so I still don't have a working wall furnace down stairs. So I said ok, I want to buy a new one then. Help me pick out like what would fit and what is appropriate and all that, with your expertise. He was like ok, I'm contacting the company that sells the heaters and find out. Months go by, you know it's hot outside, I am not worried about my heater. So a couple of weeks ago I contacted him and said so how is this coming, and he was like ya know we really just don't do wall heaters. He was like your's is the only one we have installed in like 20 years. We really just don't want to deal with it. I was like well how sad, but ok. I asked him if he knew anyone around here that would do that, and he wrote back and said I'm sorry I don't know anyone. After all that, months and months."

"<p>I did get the installation of a clean-out drain, but the two plumber's work did not fix the problem in any way at all.  When I received the bill, I was in shock.  Earlier reviews warned me that Lohmeyer Plumbing is expensive but professional.  They were good at communicating and even arrived EARLY!  However, I was charged $488.39 for one hour and 15 minutes of work only to be referred to a septic tank clean-out service when they could not fix the problem.  When I called the company to protest the charge, Dave worked with me, and my bill was lowered to $391.26.  I still think this was too high.  </p> <p>Here is the original bill:</p> <p>Service Call:  $109.75  (I was told that this is the standard service call for people OUTSIDE the city limits and is charged just to DRIVE TO YOUR HOME.)</p> <p>Labor Cost:  $235.63 (Lohmeyer charges $94.25 per hour for EACH plumber provided)</p> <p>Charge to use Drain Machine:  $100 (even though I already paid per hour for labor)</p> <p>Supplies were Reasonable in Cost:  Plastic Pipe was $11.06; PVC Plug was $3.86; Female Adapter PVC $17.85; Concrete Mix $5.21; Miscellaneous Supplies $2.40)</p> <p>TOTAL ORGINAL LABOR CHARGE TO BE AT MY HOME FOR 1.25  HOURS was $445.38!</p> <p>Dave of Lohmeyer Plumbing understood that I was unhappy because the problem was not at all resolved, and I then had to pay a septic clean-out service.  He deducted 30 min. of labor cost ($47.13) and half of the drain machine charge ($50).  This is how my bill was lowered to $391.26.  (I still had to hire a septic clean-out service for $285 more!  If I had listened to a friend of mine and just called the septic clean-out service FIRST, I could have saved $391.26, but I thought a professional plumber could better diagnose the actual problem.)  </p> <p><br /></p> <br />"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Brownstown, IN

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
