"We had a pipe break in our first floor bathroom at 1:00 am on Sat and a lot of water poured out and the first floor was completely flooded. After contacting 3 other plumbers with no success because they were busy with other customers, I went to home advisers and requested emergency service from several plumbers in the area and Rene from R plumber called within 10 min and was at our house within the next hour (very prompt). We had no idea where the water was coming from and Rene was very upfront about what needed to be done as far as cutting holes in the wall to find the source. He cut one hole in the bathroom ceiling and found a pipe completely severed which he was able to fix an restore water. His customer service was superb. THANK YOU VERY MUCH RENE!"

"CALLED AND MADE APPOINTMENT AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN THE NEXT DAY. THEY SAID THAT IT WOULD TAKE A DAY TO DIAGNOSE AND 1-2 DAYS TO REPAIR IF THERE WAS NO ENGINE DAMAGE. THE NEXT DAY WE WERE TOLD THAT AFTER TESTING WE NEEDED TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP AND NEEDED A WHEEL BEARING. TWO DAYS AFTER THE ESTIMATE THE VEHICLE WAS READY. THIS COMPANY HAS ALWAYS BEEN VERY PROFESSIONAL AND PROMPT. THE SHOP IS CLEAN AND ORGANIZED AS IS THE RECEPTION AREA. ANOTHER PLEASANT EXPERIENCE WITH THEM."

"Our tank water heater stopped working during the COVID-19 shutdown, and we decided to have it replaced with a tankless heater. Tankless Concepts responded within minutes to a voicemail left on Saturday, and a detailed quote was provided based on an extensive phone conversation and photos that I provided, including discussion of anything that could arise unexpectedly. The installers arrived on Monday, and the system was installed exactly according to plan, with the job completed in less than 5 hours. They arranged upgrade of the gas meter with Washington Gas (on the same day), removed and disposed of the old tank, arranged for utility rebates, and provided forms to apply for tax credits. The installation was done "contactless" during this pandemic. Everybody was highly responsive and professional."

"Lynn responded to our urgent call and put us into the schedule the next day. A few years prior, he had installed an easy to use shut-off valve (that also limited peak pressure into the house) so that additional water damage could be limited. On arrival the next day, he found the water pipe between family room and bathroom and also inspected surrounding pipes. Wet areas (to include between the walls) have dried without additional damage, with one preventive repair to follow. Lynn knows what he is doing and prices are reasonable for what is needed. <br />"

"Brandon and his assisant were fantasticI He was very responsive with initial appointment, estimates and getting the work done. The water line went through several interior and exteriour walls and I really appreciated that Brandon kept me infomed and gave me options during the job since there were pros and cons to differrent paths. I had an additional toilet issue I brought up after the job and he cheerfully spent a considerable amount of time assessing the issue for no additional charge. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience and I would highly reccoommend Potomac Plumbing and Gas."

"Team of three arrived exactly as indicated, and did a fine job on the entire project (taking out old hot water heaters and setting up new hot water heaters, including new copper pipes as needed and new code required elements). They explained what they did so I'd understand what took place, and they worked diligently for almost five hours on the project. The area was spotless when they were finished."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Washington DC, DC

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
