"Removed and disposed of old cast iron baseboard in kitchen (to make way for sliding patio doors) then supplied and installed copper piping & fittings to re-connect remaining baseboard. Chris and team always do a good clean job and I like the ease of doing business."

"Scott was referred to me 15 years ago by a professional realtor who he did commercial and residential plumbing work for. He has done large and small jobs for me over the years including installing complete heating systems, replacing and repairing frozen pipes in the dead of winter, repairs to main house underground water lines, bathroom fixture remodeling, and lots more. He has always been quick to return my calls, quick to come out to the house at all hours, honest, knowledgeable, clean, neat, excellent professional work completed, and provides me with the knowledge I need. His workmanship and ethics are far above all the rest! 10 Stars!"

Small jobs welcome

"Joe Was very professional he understood the urgency of our problem, we had no heat in the middle of winter. He arrived on time checked out our boiler, explained what the issue was thoroughly. He offered options, but gave his professional opinion on what the best course of action to take was. Got the part needed by the next day (which was a Saturday) Gave us a call and came right over to take care of it. Joe also gave a courtesy call to make sure everything was good a couple of hours after he left. I had an excellent experience with Joe Merritt (Plumbing with Merritt)."

"after the most horrible experience it is nice to know that reliable people with good interpersonal skills actually exist. they did outstanding work and did more than we had asked for. they were also very cost effective and incredibly pleasant to work with. they also explained all the work done before and after in detail. I would hire them again and recommend them without any hesitance to anybody anytime."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Providence, RI

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
