"Thrasher did a great job. The foreman was knowledgeable and he explained what was going to be done. We were allowed to watch the process. They leveled the front step and the sidewalk by drilling holes in the concrete and pumping foam under them until everything was level. They caulked everything when they were done and cleaned up the area. The entrance to our home looks so much better. It was well worth the money."

"Have used this company twice and would highly recommend. First time they leveled a patio that had sloped towards the house which was causing water problems. That job was done above and beyond expectations. Second time they raised the front walk from the driveway to the front porch with excellent results. Absolutely no mess with incredible results. Very willing to work with you."

"We thought we needed foundation work. They not only told us that was incorrect. They directed us to a structural engineer who would be able to help us. No charge. Most appreciated."

"The immediate contact from company rep through Angie's List went well and they had someone out to give an accurate estimate right away.  This person did a good job of explaining the process and answering our questions.  Because it was the time of the year it was we were able to schedule the work within a few weeks.  We had to put down a 10% deposit which was reasonable.  When it came to the day before the work was to begin we received a call from the owner saying they were experiencing equipment issues and could not make it to our house to begin the work the next day.  On one hand it was good he called, on the other hand we were counting on a 2 day plan.  Due to impending bad winter weather the next day, the work was delayed another day.  The crew did show up as planned on the third day and went right to work.  While the equipment was noisy the crew was very professional.  They had to jack hammer a trench around the entire interior of the foundation and haul several dozen buckets of dirt and sand up the stairs on day one .  They also had to haul several bags of concrete and buckets of rock down the steps on day two.  THIS IS NOT EASY WORK AND THESE GUYS DESERVE A LOT OF MONEY!!!  The crew was friendly and finished up in the two days as expected.  They did end up placing the sump pump pit in a different place than the plan and as was explained to us by the estimator.  I don't think it will end up being a big deal for us, but for others it could be.  The finish work looks good.  They clean up as much after themselves as I could expect.  Now the real test is how it does controlling our water.  It will be tested in the future because we always have water seepage. There is a lifetime guarantee which is transferable.  All in all it was a good experience and I'm glad we had them do it. <br />"

"Expert House Movers brought a crew of 6-8 & came in late August 2013 to start the process of raising & moving the house.  My husband had done all the prep work of disconnecting the utilities & removing the furnace, etc. They dug access ramps to the old foundation/basement with bobcats.  They poked good sized holes around the foundation so they could put in steel beams and jack up the house.  Our foundation was from 1917 & built from old creek gravel cement, so it was pretty tough.  It took three & half days to jack the house & move it over the driveway.  It seemed really fast to me.  The only thing to fall in the house was a picture off the piano.  We still had access to the house through a tall ladder to get clothes, etc. that we needed. <br /> We took over the process of arranging excavation, concrete pouring, and carpenters with more local contractors.  Expert does have concrete people & others they use in the St Louis area that know exactly the requirements needed for the new foundation. <br /> After the basement was poured & cured (curing takes about 3-4 weeks), Expert returned in October 2013 to move & set the house.  They had been in contact with the concrete man for specifications, but there were no slots for the beams when setting the house down.  A concrete worker had to come & cut those slots.  We had a carpenter on hand to finish the sill installment & make sure the sills for the permanent beams was correct & set the support posts in the basement.  We also had a friend's tractor help Expert's bobcat pull the house back over the foundation.  While all this was going on, Expert was jacking and moving supports & placing slider beams & raising & lowering the house.  The process was complete in about 2 1/2 days with care & precision.  Some of the cracks in our house even disappeared.  Great job guys. <br /> Our carpenters returned to build a staircase & some other requirements.  We are working on re-connecting utilities & returning the furnace, water heater, etc. to the new basement.  We plan to move back into the house in the first week or so in November 2013.  It's been a long process, but well worth it.  Made possible by Expert House Movers! <br />"

"10lb weight restriction. This was extremely frustrating since we were told they would come on Tues. Overall, once the gentlemen arrived all of them were pleasant and courteous. Work went smoothly and they finished in 4 days. The concrete finish work is poor. This was especially discouraging as he guy old me he doesn't normally do concrete work. It seemed as if som of he workers weren't as knowledgable about the product, since they didn't have answers for questions I had. The first night after it was finished, we had a large rainfall. The basement is dry and with the dehumidifier running, I no longer smell mold. We looked in he drain ports and noticed water running the opposite direction of he sumps. Regardless, the basement is dry and water stayed out! We're glad we did it as the end result is a dry basement. However, there were issues we weren't happy with as stated above. Maybe we're just being picky, but we should-it was a lot of hard-earned money."

"I feel bad because this was one of the best companies that I have ever dealt with. I think we had 3 different crews and they were all great. Here's my problem and it wouldn't cause me to not recommend them or use them again myself. From the time I signed the contract to the time the work was scheduled the salesman that I worked with either left or was terminated. When the crew got here they didn't seem to know what to do and asked me if I had planned to provide my own sump pump. One of them also told me that if I would just open the vents in my crawlspace it would dry out on it's own. This is against everything they recommend as I was sold on sealing the crawlspace and I'm glad I did. They have a system called and quot;Ice Guerdand quot; where they bury the discharge line from the pump and have a mechanism to keep it from freezing in the winter. The salesman showed me this and I was lead to believe I was getting it. The crew that came told me they would need another 350.00 to do that so instead I have a 12 foot pipe sticking out into my backyard. I expressed my disappointment on the exit survey and received a nice call from Bix telling me they would be back to install it no charge. Of course I was thrilled thinking this was above and beyond what most contractors would do. I was scheduled twice but had to be cancelled because of rain. I sent an e-mail a couple of months ago asking about it but did not receive a reply and I called a month ago and talked to a real nice lady who said someone would call to re-schedule. So far nothing. I'm a bit worried that If I have a warranty problem I'm going to get the same treatment. I even expressed interest in signing a service contract to have a yearly inspection but also did not receive a reply. Again, a good company that did a great job at a reasonable price. I just think maybe they have too much business to keep up with. <br />"

FAQs for concrete injection leveling mudjacking projects in Burlington, IA

Mudjacking and foam jacking differ significantly in both materials and methods. Mudjacking uses a cement-based slurry to fill voids beneath a slab, while foam jacking uses expanding polyurethane foam delivered under high pressure to achieve superior structural support. This material distinction enhances load-bearing strength and overall stability in your repair.

Mudjacking takes between one and three days to dry completely. During this time, it's important to avoid putting weight on the slab until it's fully cured. The drying time depends on the project size and environmental conditions. In contrast, polyurethane foam used in foam jacking can cure in as little as one hour.

No, mudjacking is not a permanent fix for sinking concrete. While it effectively lifts the slab and can last five to 10 years, it doesn't address underlying soil issues that may cause future sinking. For a more permanent solution, you might consider foam jacking or complete slab replacement, which can address deeper structural problems.
