"Jason, our repairman arrived on time and did a fantastic job with repairing our garage door. He was very friendly and experienced. We had several issues and he fixed all of them and saved us from needing to buy a new door!"

"The first project was electrical socket and breaker box work to replace faulty job from a different contractor. Second was to replace and rebuild bathroom floors, shower plumbing, and tile work. Third was to install wood flooring in kitchen, laundry, and front door areas. Lastly was to paint walls in bedrooms and kitchen. Following the painting, was to replace four windows due to rot. His quality of work was very professional, and all jobs are done in a quality manner that I am truly pleased with. I would recommend him highly to all friends and coworkers.
"

"This is our second tuff shed. The first tuff shed was installed quite a few years ago, and has been just great from the beginning.
This is the story of our second shed - and it has a happy ending! The shed arrived and was installed on schedule. However, when we checked it out after work that evening, we were appalled to find that the installer had cracked almost every single joist where it connected to the shed. Not just cracked, but in several instances, huge chunks of the joists had broken off. Apparently the installer just kept on working despite wrecking the shed worse at each joist.
Also, screws were not flush set (much less counter sunk) on the walls or the floor. The walls were an inconvenience, but the FLOORS would have been dangerous - thin-soled shoes would have definitely been damaged if they happened to scuff across that piece of floor, much less bare feet. Any boxes that had to be slid on the floor would have been damaged.
The weather stripping wasn't attached properly, and stuck out in several places.
We called the Tuff Shed office in Bakersfield first thing the next morning, and were immediately connected with Russ McGuire, General Manager of the Bakersfield office. We emailed him a few photos at his request, and he called back almost immediately to say that he would have a crew out the NEXT DAY to make all the requested repairs.
Good to his word, Russ had a crew out right on schedule the next day and every single issue was repaired by the end of the evening.
Although it was an inconvenience to have had it originally installed with such shoddy work, we recognize that sometimes you get a bad employee. We also recognize that Tuff Shed stands behind their work AND workmanship, and we would highly recommend them to anyone.
"

"It went GREAT! Scott was punctual for estimate appointments and the construction crew arrived and commenced work as scheduled. Taylor, in the office, was a delight and extremely helpful. Without asking, we were provided with construction diagrams and all license and insurance information for Americal as part of the estimate and construction processes. The completion of our awning only took a couple of days and we are very pleased with the result. The necessary building inspections were scheduled by Americal and completion of the project went smoothly on that end. Americal provided an electrical plug and a security light receptacle and switches to control each as part of the installation. We requested that part of the awning be curved to match a seat wall at the end of the patio and our request was accommodated and looks fantastic. The crew cleaned their work areas each day and were meticulous in their attention to the finish details.
Our friends used another awning shop to do their awning (we called this company for an estimate too but were stood up) and this company FAILED to call the building department to obtain the necessary inspections, so their awning could not receive final approval until the company returned and removed the lighting for inspection and approval.
You can get other estimates but I doubt you'll find a company more punctual and professional than Americal.

"

"First the bad then the good. 1. This project took almost 4 months. We were told a few weeks. 2. Communication between the office and workers needs a lot of work. 3. The estimates were confusing as were the details in the final bill. 4. Final touches were slow and I eventually finished the painting myself. 5. Lack of job oversight by the owner of this company. The good; 1. The mold/mitigation work was swift and well done. 2. Overall the finished product is good but for the price not perfect. I expected this to be wonderful and while I like it I don't love it. 3. We were so glad when it was done. 4. Love the shower tile and wood look floor tile. 5. Love the shower door but it isn't perfectly even.
"

"I'm in Palmdale CA, 15th Street W. and Avenue O. Sure glad I found United Carports! Great customer service, Diane promptly answered my many questions. We communicated mostly by email with a few phone calls. She promptly adjusted price based on my several changes to specifications and options. Price was VERY good compared to others after much online shopping and estimates from local contractors. I got the certified plans from United Carports and used those plans to get the permit for LA County (a "learning experience"). I was quite nervous about the down payment and $500 for the plans as I didn't know if plans would be approved. After a couple of mods to the plans and about $3500 to the County, they were approved much to my relief. It took about 3 months for County to approve them.

After finally getting approved plans, I got a local contractor for the concrete floor, he just followed the plans and did an excellent job. Then United Carports sent out a team to put up the building. It took about 2 1/2 days. It was obviously an experienced installation team with 2 to 6 installers working on it at any given time.

I'm VERY happy with the results, it is rated for 110 mph winds per County requirements for Antelope Valley so it is a little more sturdy than the standard frame.

The building isn't perfect but I didn't expect perfection for the price. The building is sound and was wind/rain tested a couple of days after the install. I got some drafts and blow-in around the bottom base rail. I asked United Carports about methods for better sealing . I was just looking for some tips on getting a better seal and fully expected to do it myself. But the next day one of the owners made the 4-hour round trip to my house to help with sealing! Awesome customer support after the install! The standard roll-up doors are a bit "cheesy" but quite serviceable. I ordered optional seals around them but they still won't be sealed well around the sides. For the price, I didn't expect any better. If I decide better roll-up doors are needed in the future, then it appears it won't be difficult to replace them. Windows and walk-in doors were good quality.

Overall, a great experience working with United Carports customer service and the installation team. I am quite impressed with the final product, it exceeds my expectations. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!"

FAQs for garage building service projects in Buttonwillow, CA

A well‑constructed, properly permitted detached garage adds between $12,000 and $36,000 to a home’s resale value. Buyers appreciate the secure parking, extra storage, and flexible workspace, so appraisers often bump the property’s value accordingly. The exact return depends on the garage’s size, finishes, and how well it matches the main house, but most homeowners see a strong ROI when the build meets local codes and passes inspection.

Yes—once it meets local building codes and you secure the proper permits, a detached garage can be converted into living space. Finishing the interior, adding climate control, and ensuring safe egress effectively increase your usable square footage, though it may not always count toward the official listing. Skipping permits can trigger fines and even force you to undo the work, so always clear plans with your city first.

Most homeowners policies cover a detached garage under the “other structures” provision, but coverage limits vary. Review your declarations page and ask your agent how much protection you have for separate structures. If the limit is lower than the garage’s replacement cost, you can raise it for a modest premium. Confirming the details now prevents headaches if you ever need to file a claim.
