"This was a great experience from start to finish. Joe Nelson gave us a quote and estimated timeline for completion and both were exactly correct. He was excellent at communicating who would be working at our home and when. He answered all texts promptly and kept us well informed throughout the whole process. The work done by Joe and his people was excellent quality and we could not be happier with our new finished lower level. Highly recommend!"

"Eric, who works with Kevin, arrived promptly on a very hot day and took down an old basketball hoop, jackhammered out the old cement, dug a deeper post hole required for a new hoop, and installed the new hoop anchor and poured cement. It seems like a simple job, but he and his helper were working for five or six hours straight and it was hard work. The anchor was perfectly even, resulting in a straight pole and hoop when the company came to install the new hoop on the anchor. One Call does it right."

"It went well. Bob was the most reasonable out of all of the bids that I received, he also allowed us to purchase a lot of the materials ourselves, which ended up saving us money with rebates. He also thought to rent a port-a-john as we were going to be without our only bathroom for at least 2 weeks, which turned out to be an absolute necessity. Once the project was started, Bob was really good about calling me either every day or every other day to keep me in the loop on where they were at project wise. His team was good about cleaning up after themselves and was always professional. <br /> When I say gutted our bathroom, I mean that literally - it was tore out down to the studs with all new drywall, tub/shower surround, flooring, vanity and cabinets. The bathroom is amazing - showroom beautiful for sure. <br /> Bob was great about advising me on different things that he could do that would assist with the improvements - such as using the remaining tile in our little laundry area rather than the vinyl - he thought this would create a more stable environment, especially because with the age of our home, being level just wasn't something that came easy. <br /> I did have Bob come back after the work was complete for just a couple of minor issues, such as a tightening of a faucet and a minor vinyl correction, that he took care of immediately. I would highly recommend Bob and his son, Robert for any project and Bob's Home Improvement will be my first call for any future home improvement projects. <br />"

"I had explained that I had the materials, I had most of the work already completed, just needed them to finish it.  <br /> I had to pay for them to get to and from my home, totaling $25, this also began the hourly rate...so it was more than that in the end. <br /> They said it would take 4.5 hours total (again, this included the travel time I was paying for separately) and the rate was $55/hr. <br /> They also added another fee of $180 to general labor. So, I'm paying TWO labor fees? <br /> Having 2 panels of screen hung on my porch for almost $500 is ridiculous. The other reviews on here seemed similar. <br />"

"It went great.  James is friendly, takes the time to talk about the job so everyone understands everything.  On time, and worked efficiently.  He even injured himself, went to get stitches, and then returned the same day to finish my job!  I definitely would call him again."

"We were referred to Paul with R&P Construction from another local contractor back in February. I requested a quote from Paul by phone to replace our wooden soffitt (DIY by the previous homeowner...) with aluminum. He called me and texted me to let me know he got my message, and he emailed me the quote within a few days. He was very reasonably priced and great at communicating (which I love from any contractor!!). They were able to come in April (4/21/2020) and do the work. He had a few guys with him and they replaced our soffit within two hours of arriving. It looks incredible!! SUCH an improvement. The crew cleaned up after themselves and Paul was very kind to speak with. I hope we get to hire them again for other projects in the future! Would definitely recommend to others."

"Contractor was punctual and professional. Had great attention to detail. I was convinced he and his crew would do a very good job if hired. His price was well above another bid I ultimately accepted for another contractor using the same materials. His wait time to start the job was also much longer, which I took to be a sign that his work is very highly regarded by others. The only reason I didn't rate overall experience higher is that I couldn't afford the price he bid. <br />"

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Cedar Rapids, IA

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
