"John Wiltshire was able to fit us in on this super hot day. Wasn't expecting his service until tomorrow. I'm so thankful he found the problem and it didn't cost an arm and a leg. Excellent work, very polite and explained what needed to be done. In no time we had AC again. I would highly recommend. Thank you, Spoor's Heating &Air ?"

"Finally an honest Solar company!! I went through several companies trying to get quotes for one of my properties, either they were ridiculously expensive or they didn't return my calls. A friend of mine referred me to Mega Sun and I have to say I am very pleased. Within a couple days from the initial phone call I already had an estimate and once i decided to go with them the installation was completed in one week. Its been a little over a month since they completed the install and everything is working smoothly.

I was amazed at just how great the customer service was. I just want to say thank you to the whole team who helped out, I really appreciate all your hard work. Now I know you guys are the ones to call for all future jobs."

"Two techs arrived on time. They wanted to check out my water heater first. They tried to convince me it was old (it isn't) then tried to convince me it was installed wrong (it wasn't). We then went into the house where they flushed one toilet and looked under the kitchen sink. Even though i have 3 additional bathrooms with toilets they were done and left. It was so painfully obvious they came only to sell me a new water heater. I immediately cancelled my service contract with them. I have had them service my air cond/heater since they installed it about 11 years ago. I noticed that unlike previous ownership this new group tried to sell me something on every trip. I went for the new duct work because I figured it was over 30 yrs. old and didn't realize I was now dealing with a large corporation instead of a family owned business. The next trip they said I needed some kind of compressor booster based on the units age. 2 other companies said that was nonsense. Now the fake plumbing visit. Even though there service contract was very reasonable I don't trust them anymore and won't have them back in my house.

"It was a little complicated. As far as the plumbing work, that went fine. They're a little bit high pressure on their service contract. I ended up signing for a service contract for $15 a month. It's an automatic withdrawal so I have to wait for a year to undo it. I just wanted my plumbing fixed. I don't want the service contract. It was a simple job. They're polite. I ended up paying an additional $200."

"The crew brought and installed the furnace heater with no set backs, everything went as planned. They delivered the furnace heater and professionally cleaned everything all for a low price! Would Definitely hire again."

"We were getting ready to sell the house at the time so we wanted the service taken care of. We had more ducts and vents then were included in the deal so we had to pay additional fees. They did a good job."

"Conditioning Unit drain was plugged and water was leaking under our floors.  Previous service call in 10/2013 from a different company (Performance Plumbing Services) sent out through our home warranty company AHS said he couldn't do anything to fix the problem until we were able to locate the drain outlet and to call him back when we were able to do so.  They did some mickey mouse adjustments which didn't work. We therefore stopped using the air conditioning.  In the spring we decided to not go through our warranty company AHS since we had no satisfaction from the company they sent out in October and, therefore, called GRAYDON KOURI direct as we had used him several times in the past and found him to do outstanding work. Mr. Kouri diagnosed the problem and was able to correct the drainage problem by pulling out the hose that was stuck in the mud, replacing it with a new pvc pipe and repositioning it over the hole in the slab.   We have always found Mr. Kouri to be very professional, friendly, knowledgeable and honest and would highly recommend him to everyone.  HE IS EXCELLENT!"

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Challenge, CA

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
