Customers say: Quick response

"Ariel and his team were punctual, responsive, and attentive. We had our fireplace remodeled, and the tile work was excellent. Ariel also installed a basalt slab at the base of the fireplace, and over a counter top for us. The work was high-quality, and I was really happy with the final result. He and his workers were great. I would recommend them to anyone!"

"I got three bids on this project, and Kestner was my favorite of the three, so I was very excited when their bid actually came in the lowest. I was already pretty sure I was going with them, and that easily sealed the deal to hire them. This was much more complicated than a typical deck project. It included an outdoor kitchen area and some other features, plus the way it sits against the house is a little out of the ordinary. I had a good idea of what I wanted, but Ryan was SO helpful in making suggestions to help me finalize the details. He really listened to what I wanted, made excellent suggestions and didn't hesitate to be honest when he thought something might not end up looking right. I desperately needed that - especially since this project happened during the COVID shut down so I didn't have as many people around to provide feedback. All of his suggestions were spot on and I am in love with the final project. The whole crew was amazing. They finished the job quickly and weren't disruptive, even while I was working from home the whole time. My neighbor even mentioned that she was impressed by how hard they worked. And honestly they were some of the nicest guys...I was kind of sad when the project was over because it meant we didn't get to joke around anymore. I've got several other major projects on the horizon and I will be hiring them for every one. I can't recommend them enough."

Small jobs welcome

"These guys did a great job! We just completed a big basement remodel removing a bar and adding an additional bedroom to our house. They completed the job in a timely manner and it looks great! We are getting another bid for an additional project we want to complete and would love to work with them again. Highly recommend."

FAQs for carpentry framing installation projects in Andover, MN

Both steel and wood can last over 100 years with proper care. However, wood could rot or warp when exposed to moisture, whereas galvanized steel is rotproof, insect-proof, and much more fire-resistant. Steel is friendlier to the environment as it doesn’t require cutting down trees, and the frame can be recycled. The energy-efficiency rating of metal stud framing can be higher than conventional wood construction. Metal studs are easier and quicker to install.

Whether you’re using wood or metal stud framing, follow the “16 on center” rule, meaning you should have a stud every 16 inches. A 20-foot wall spans a total of 320 inches. This works out to 20 spans of 16 inches, plus one starting stud, for a total requirement of 21 studs to frame a 20-foot wall.

Drywall installation costs $1.15 to $2 per square foot on metal stud framing or $2,300 for an average 2,000-square-foot house. The total cost for metal framing and drywall ranges from $20 to $30 per linear foot. Metal frames often seem light, but they can be exceptionally strong once drywall or sheathing is attached.
