"JADA Construction really came through on a difficult window replacement for a 19th century building! The windows were all over 80? in length, so had to be custom built to fit. JADA handled everything from measuring, getting custom windows, and installing on a beautiful November day. Their install team was courteous and cleaned up after themselves throughout the process. I definitely recommend JADA for your custom home needs!"

"A needed to fix the attic floor of my rental property, it was noisy even with the carpet, a friend recommended Dorian. I gave him a call, since I don’t live in the country and I told him what I wanted to be done, he took care of everything, he got me the exact floor I wanted, removed old carpet, fixed subfloor, installed new floor and new baseboards, I was very pleased with the job, i also ask him if he could paint it as well and he did an Excellent job! He was very professional and easy to deal with. I would definitely recommend him."

"Robert and his crew were the best at everything, from the initial estimate, to the scheduling, to the high-quality work, all done in a very short time, even in freezing weather! I would hire them again for any framing. They are some of the hardest-working guys that I have seen in a while, showing up every day at 7am, getting started right away, and not stopping until they were done. Very good experience!"

"I used On the Ball Remodeling Services to transform my new home. They put in new floors, painted all the walls and interior trim, replaced baseboards, painted my kitchen cabinets and installed a new backsplash, and a whole bunch more. Working with Jabari was a pleasant experience. He was quick to communicate if issues arose through the course of the work and offered solutions, even recommendations on what would match the aesthetic I was going for. I was scared to take on renovations, but after this experience, I know who I'll be going to for any other projects I may need and who I'll be recommending to friends and family looking to undertake renovations."

"November 13 2025 I hired Elite & Elevated Construction & Excavation to complete excavation, footings, and foundation work for a large project I was working on. I invested about $55,000 in the project, and I couldn?t be happier with the results. The job was completed perfectly and on time, even though the weather conditions were terrible. We had snow, rain, and freezing temperatures, but nothing stopped Mario and his crew. They showed up every day, worked efficiently, and stayed committed to getting the job done right and fast. I truly appreciate their dedication because I needed the work completed quickly, and despite the weather challenges, they delivered exactly what they promised. Professional, reliable, and hardworking team. I would definitely recommend Elite & Elevated Construction & Excavation, and I will absolutely hire them again to install my concrete driveway in the future"

FAQs for carpentry framing installation projects in Chicago, IL

Professional contractors complete basement framing in three to five days, depending on the size and complexity of your space. Projects with simple, open layouts progress faster than those with multiple rooms and corners. DIY framers should expect the job to take significantly longer, potentially seven to 10 days or more, depending on experience level and available time. The timeline doesn't include other aspects of basement finishing like drywall installation, electrical work, or finishing touches, which extend the overall renovation schedule.

Most municipalities require building permits for basement framing projects. These permits cost between $1,200 and $2,000, ensuring your renovation meets local building codes for safety and structural integrity. Working without proper permits can result in penalties, forced removal of completed work, and complications when selling your home. Your local building department can provide specific information about permit requirements, inspection schedules, and any special considerations for basement renovations in your area.

For basement framing, use pressure-treated lumber for bottom plates (the horizontal boards that contact concrete floors) to prevent moisture damage and rot. Standard kiln-dried lumber is suitable for wall studs and top plates that don't directly contact concrete surfaces. The most common lumber dimension for basement wall framing is two-by-four, though some situations may call for two-by-six lumber to accommodate thicker insulation. Always check local building codes, as some jurisdictions have specific requirements for basement framing materials.

You can install drywall after framing is complete and inspected, but several important steps should happen first. Ensure any electrical, plumbing, or HVAC rough-ins are completed and inspected before closing up walls. Installing insulation between studs is highly recommended for temperature control and moisture management. Drywall installation adds an average of $3 to $4 per linear foot to your project, with painting costing an additional $2 to $6 per square foot. Address any moisture concerns before enclosing walls to prevent future damage and mold issues.
