"Professional, friendly, great attention to detail. Jesse and his crew rescreened our existing porch moving the screen to the outside of the porch framing. The work was beautifully done, great attention to detail, great clean up after the completion of the project and an ever present concern for the safety of the crew. (We had several rain days that could have been dangerous work using 2nd floor scaffolding.) I would recommend Summerlin Exteriors."

Customers say: Quality work

"Les designed, fabricated, and installed a kitchen banquette bench for us. His vision for the design and craftsmanship for the fabrication was excellent. Because no house is square or plumb, he was able to install the bench in such a way that it looks built in. All aspects of the project went very well. He did a remarkable job and we are extremely pleased."

"Andy responded immediately when I reached out for an estimate. He promised to do the work in a timely manner and he did. He had to invent a carpentry solution and creatively did so. He also installed grab bars in a tiled shower flawlessly which is not easy to do. Delightful man who arrives with a workshop in wheels."

"Needed deck footers and supports redone on a 12x20 deck that my original contractor did incorrectly and failed inspection. KB did a great job of correcting and installing the correct footers and we passed our inspection with flying colors. "

By that I mean everything is covered so his work does not interfere with the cleanliness of your home. From plastic covers over area to floor being covered. Highly recommend. FAQs for carpentry framing installation projects in Asheville, NC

Both steel and wood can last over 100 years with proper care. However, wood could rot or warp when exposed to moisture, whereas galvanized steel is rotproof, insect-proof, and much more fire-resistant. Steel is friendlier to the environment as it doesn’t require cutting down trees, and the frame can be recycled. The energy-efficiency rating of metal stud framing can be higher than conventional wood construction. Metal studs are easier and quicker to install.

Whether you’re using wood or metal stud framing, follow the “16 on center” rule, meaning you should have a stud every 16 inches. A 20-foot wall spans a total of 320 inches. This works out to 20 spans of 16 inches, plus one starting stud, for a total requirement of 21 studs to frame a 20-foot wall.

Drywall installation costs $1.15 to $2 per square foot on metal stud framing or $2,300 for an average 2,000-square-foot house. The total cost for metal framing and drywall ranges from $20 to $30 per linear foot. Metal frames often seem light, but they can be exceptionally strong once drywall or sheathing is attached.
